I appreciate you taking the time to do this step by step. Without videos like this, guys like me without any formal automotive training couldn’t work on our cars. Much Appreciated!
@@Project380 Not just helped, but currently helping with the NA build I just started now that the ND1 is done. I didn’t want to do the GM coils and these look awesome. Hopefully using the links to purchase parts helps support the site. ✌🏼
For future reference the waterproof little silicone seals are supposed to get clamped under the rear insulation crimp part of the terminal so they get pulled down into the connector body when the terminal is pushed into the back of the connector. In all reality it does not make that much difference to there functionality of the seal as long as they get push inside the connector body they seal the back of the connector pretty well. one other thing you can put a teeny tiny(and i mean tiny) bit of of washing up liquid or silicone lube spray on the the silicone water proof seal to make it slide inside the back of the connector body. it make it much easier to push the seal in.
Hey man! Watched this over again to see how you did then sequentially but honestly making that harness looks like it’s gonna take me a century. I’m currently experiencing a blowout around 3900 rpm’s on r8 coils with bkr7e-11s at .022” gap. I’ve swapped back to stock ignition currently and it’s worse in boost but for causal driving it’s still great like the r8s. I’m only noticing the blowout during WOT. I have a bunch of data logs and videos but it’s been about an 8 month tuning process so far and have yet to figure it out. Maybe sequential will help? I’m currently on wasted spark and the r8 coils just plug and play directly into the stock coil harness(just had to repin the plugs on stock side to fit r8 harness.)
HELLO project 380 can i ask where you got you patch leads from was it just a ebay job or is there one you recommended ps we meet at japfest towards the end of the day was talking to about my vvt turbo mk1 that keeps trying to set its self on fire
Hi mate, I'm a Motorsport harness technician. As a first go this is a great effort however my only criticisms would be: Don't splice wires via solder as solder can deteriorate over time. Invest in shotgun splices or butt splices. I can send you the RS Component number if you're interested. The only big issue I would say is the waterproof grommet in the rear of connectors, the front lip of the grommet is meant to be crimped under the insulation crimp and butted against the conductor crimp so it's held securely in place, instead of being slid up. Keep up the good work bud and hope these tips help in the future!
well this is what i was thinking. i done a tonne of research adn dug up an old post on a forum that said use 16awg wire, i ordered 16 and i can only trust they sent the right wire
gotta ask bud, I guess by your name your shooting for 380 bhp , what are you going to do with your drive train . 6 speed with torsion lsd?? but even that isn't going to last long on track even less at drag strip love the vids btw
Wonder if you can help I am trying to fit a omex limiter and ders 2 wire from omex limiter needs to connect to negative terminal of the coil... i dont know which it the negative terminal and I have 6pin connection from coil pack which has 2.red 1blue 1green and 2black on my mx5 nb 2003 question is would you know were the negative terminal is?

For those about to be loom stripping get a larger "sewing torn knife" makes the job really easy and save!
good shout, im now about to redo it all so may invest in a better one

the patch leads for the coils? if so i got them through my work / the others were just off ebay
ahhh tht was you, good to meet you
Hey feller, absolutely love all your videos! Just wondering where you got all the connectors for this video please?
Thank you 😎, injector plugs came with the injectors and the rest from ebay
@@Project380 cheers, I've found them all now. I was struggling to find the 8 pin that connects the sub harness.

Thank you for the input i greatly appreciate it. in the future if i have issues ill make wiring harness 2.0 😉
@@Project380 hi do you have an email address by any chance?

Are the wires you have put to the coils not a bit big? Extra resistance and that?!?

Bigger wire = Less resistance. More space for the electrons to flow ;)

hey pete, its an Rs so its already got 6 speed and torsion , if they break then i will upgrade
Torsen should be fine to 400, the trans not so much sadly

is it 1.6 or 1.8. ive only ever fitted a *bee r rev limiter and had to use diodes to make it work.
