    i’m glad that new washers are finally letting you choose water level. It’s our water bills let us use what we want.

    • @michah321

      It's true, otherwise people just wash their clothes four times. No one's saving anything if people can't choose

    • @ronb6182
      @ronb6182 Год назад

      It's not so much the water level it's how long it takes to do a load. Mine takes 20 minutes. I think the wash is 14 minutes and the rest is spin, rinse and fill. I guess mine fills quickly. 73

    • @bobloblaw2754

      It's also the government telling appliance makers how much water a unit can use to wash clothes.

      @@bobloblaw2754 there is a way around the water issue. On the whirlpool front load washing machine you can use the afresh cycle to wash your heavy soiled clothes and just use the rinse cycle to rinse them out. I haven't tried it yet because I just brought the washing machine home from the mountains and haven't hooked it up. I will comment in an update the results also the time the afresh cycle is a little longer than a wash, you could cancel that cycle and start the rinse . We can fight fire with fire. I can conserve water some where else. The new commodes save water and if we forget to flush that's more water saved. 73

    My mom got a Ge washer and dryer set after her Magic Chef washer self destructed after twenty four years of reliable service. The GE set is going on five years of heavy use no issues. Meanwhile I’ve gone through a couple of lg and Samsung washing machines in the same time frame still have the Samsung but it’s on it last leg. I’ll be switching to GE top loader because the brand has proven itself reliable so far in my family. Screw the fancy front loaders I’m done with wasting my money.

    3:21 - The Spin Option is Duration, NOT Speed. This option gives you more time on how much the longer spin you want, and if it was speed, the washer would vibrate really badly.

    • @theminicooper
      @theminicooper 11 месяцев назад +2

      Wow... Not gonna lie, I was sure you were wrong and looked into it and it's true! The owner manual specifies "Spin Selection (Duration)"..... I know Samsung is Speed... It was probably cheaper this way than to have some sensors and work on programming... it's all down to the bottom buck!

    I recently purchased thia washer without the agitator, fot the ease of loading and extra room. I love it. It does a good job. But, I'll hVe to get use to how the water doesn't fully cover thw clothes, like my 28 yr old hotpoint washer did, unless I set the water lever to deep by using cycle for bulky items. Since I use cold watsr and have a good well, conserving water in my wash is not a high priority. Thx for the review

    We have had the GTW 685 for, I believe, around 5 years. It used to wash clothes well when it worked properly. Although, since it was new, it has been the noisiest washer I can ever remember owning. Unfortunately for our pocketbook, it's no longer working properly. It's unable to get through the spin dry cycle before stopping with the "B--A--L--A--N--C--I--N--G" message. After going through its balancing act, it finishes with a dripping wet load of clothes. With Speed Queens' 10 year warranty and a life expectancy of 20 or so years, they are looking better and better. One Speed Queen @ $1500 vs. four GEs at $600 makes more sense.

      I just got mine yesterday and testing it. The sales rep said it was a good washer but the biggest complaint is the electronic board shorts out from. Moisture . Also, Something I discovered and the manual confirms. It doesn't do a rinse unless you select it. It washes , sprays the clothes while it spins😒, and thats it. It doesn't have a second rinse. The high (800 rpm ) is suppose to ring the water out ,
      Leaving your clothes damp dry (less time in the dryer).
      On the bulk setting, I can put 2 queen comfortors and it turns the comfortors. The dual agitator is a true agitator. Overall, It's the better choice off all top loaders. The deep fill & soak (up to 2 hours ) allow you to use Lysol Sanitizer ( 16 minutes surface contact in the rinse cycle to sterilize)sterilized. I bought it from Lowes for the 3 year parts and labor replacement warranty . Best investment with peace of mind.

      I also feel top load washers are much quicker than front load... plus in North America, people are used to top loaders as this is what every has had for years and years.

    • @attlevi
      @attlevi 3 месяца назад

      If it was possible I would have both. Best kept secret is that the new American front loaders uses only a small amount of water which in many cases doesn't work in cleaning clothes. In MANY cases of large loads , the center doesn't get wet at all. Many of us Americans are used to going to the laundry mat & seeing our laundry submerged under water of a half filled front loader. Also , it spinned followed by a second rinse. In some cases, you will see the dirt and soil separated between tumbling. In today's frontloaders , none of this exists. You have to assume it's getting the job done when in truth ,it's not. I would only use a front loader for bulky items such a comfort or, blankets and anything that might tear in a top loader with an agitator. I would never get a top loader without an agitator. The clothes on top often won't get rotated to the bottom where the cleaning takes place. . Also, with the modern POS front loaders, unless your water heater is next to the machine, you won't get hot water into the machine because of small amount used to fill is the water in your pipes between the water heater and the machine. Foe this and many other reasons , many laundry detergent manufacturers have re-engineered their detergent to work in cold water.
      Nonetheless, I have this GE 485 model. The biggest takeaway with this machine is the temp control and waterfowl. My water heater is set for 180 degrees . In the soak cycle , I can kill larvae, lift deeply soiled items & sanitize, without much detergent. The computer temp is set much cooler because unfortunately, Noone wants lawsuit. In short , your jacuzzi is hotter than the "hot" setting ,& " warm" is really cold. Lastly, the machine restricts the water significantly adding unnecessary time to the cycle. My previous washer allowed the full pressure from the house which gave me back my time for other things like getting to work ontime. Sorry , didn't mean to type so much.

    • @glassman1533
      @glassman1533 3 месяца назад

      I live in apt.building. Water heater not a problem. It is possible, depending on the cycle, to use more water than normal cycle. I haven't really had issues with my front loader not getting clothes clean and I only use 1 top (15 ml) of detergent per load. It's really important not to overload machine.
      Top loaders are quicker than front load, but they do use a lot of water. Their relatively slow spin cycles also put more pressure on dryer to use a lot more energy to dry clothes. It's true that my front loader takes longer to complete the load than a top loader. It's also true that my hear pump dryer takes a bit longer than a traditional vented electric or gas dryer to dry. It is also more energy efficient than either of them. With a strategic is of delayed cycles, I can still have freshly dried clean clothes at my convenience.
      Many parts of the country are beginning to exhaust their ground water. For better or worse, we need to be more judicious on how we use what we have left. There's a reason water bills have been skyrocketing lately.
