Holy smokes! Nostalgia! I forgot about these until seeing your video. I had several of these and loved blasting my little brother, cars driving by, and my dog!
True story... In 1985,my friend and I were riding around after graduation in the IROC Z 28 he had received as his going away to college wheels. I had one of the Intertech Squirt Guns that looked exactly like an UZI... same size as the real article, and detailed down to the extended clip and wire frame retractable stock. We thought it would be a lark to do "Drive Bys" on our friends and soak them. About an hour into our "shooting spree", we got pulled down on by 4 Local Cops, 2 Sheriff's Deputies, a State Trooper, and I shit you not... a Wildlife Management Officer. That happened obviously before the " Red Muzzle" editions.
I had one of thoose back in the end of the 80´s here in Sweden, I remember there was one in a "lime green" color with a orange trigger and yellow magazine with a red filler cap inside the magazine, And there was a a pink one, also with a yellow magazine, same filler cap, but it had a pink trigger, the pink one i had, and i used some black spray paint, and some humbrol colors, to make the grip "brown" the mechanism died pretty fast, and i lost the batterycover, but it was a steady prop in "playing war" in the forest with the local kids. Thank You Retroblasting for deliver all this awsome content! Stay Safe now! / from a Swedish Fan!
Analog Toys - yeah, I was one of those who got lucky and got one before they changed colors - thank God I never got shot as much as I ran around my neighborhood with mine....
80's toys appearing in 80's TV was when I usually stood up off the couch pointing at the TV like a crazy person. Like season 1 Miami Vice where a random goon is playing with a Shockwave.
The Entertech line hit at *exactly* the right age for us at the time. In '85, I was 10 years old and my cousin and I tried to find every one of them (although, like most kids, we could never find the bazooka; but a friend of ours had the M-16). We would spend whole days playing with them. Just endless fun. Btw, I usually find that a squirt or two of WD-40 into those Kenner-style motors really loosens them up and enables them to run faster. P.S. I clearly remember those guns having a leaking issue, even back then, so it may not be vintage-wear causing that, necessarily.
Great video, I have a boxed one that still functions perfectly. The pressure on yours looks a bit weak for sure, but still awesome. If you had one of these in the neighborhood back in the day, you were king. Really underrated toy today in my opinion.
Oh my gosh, I had completely forgotten about these! I had this same one but I guess it was an earlier version because mine did not have the orange painted tip. Thanks for the blast of nostalgia!
That brought back many memories seeing that in action again! Oh man that sound and even the leaking! From what I remember they all tended to leak bad. My friend had this one and the M16 and we would play "army" with them minus the water because they were so bad at leaking but they made "great machine gun sounds" with batteries lol. Excellent video and I swear I saw a little 10yr old Michael there when you were shooting off the porch lol.
That's awesome! Very cool how similar it is to the Star Wars Kenner tech of the time. Even the same exact motor. I had a couple of these as a kid and used to go out in the woods with my buddies and have squirt gun wars. Thanks for bringing back the memories.
Between these and the Lazer Tag sets were awesome. It gave us a gateway to between playing GI Joe and team building. Awesome video! Life before nerf blasters most of all!
I can just imagine Michael sitting at his desk tinkering with this and various other blasters, like some mysterious gunslinger, customizing his pistols to their peak
Thats spooky as hell, ive literally got an episode of The A-Team on in the background while watching this. Love these videos Michael. Keep them coming please.
Great video! I have a water gun very similar to this I picked up a few years ago. It looks like a full size Uzi, with no orange tip. Keep up the awesome work!
I had one of those. I think it was the earlier version. I remember it working the same as yours. Never quite had the bang you thought it should have and yes mine leaked just like that too. Thanks for the video Michael, always taking me back. I forgot all about that gun till this video.
I would like to recommend a refresh on the grease used in older toy gear train’s. They didn’t usually use the best in the first place and it breaks down over time anyway. I’ve found super lube grease to be pretty good in toys. Best
Thanks for this much needed upload! What I mean to say is that in this time of limited interaction it's like having friends over when you pop up in my subs box. This video has reminded me of just how much of my playtime was taken up with plastic guns. I remember having a really realistic M-16 that definitely had no orange tip. With the UK police being unarmed it just never appeared on our radar that there was ever any danger. What were no doubt more dangerous was the elastic band guns that my dad used to help me make!! Great video and all the best my friends.
Awesome job!! I had one that was green with black animal stripes those battery doors always where a PITA!!! i would also hit the piston with a light coat of marine grease and maybe some of that or some Vaseline on a little brush and hit the gears and their axels the best you can. That whine sounds like the power is released while it was starting the torquey part of pumping the water and it's binding a bit.
I remember the rumor about a bazooka model that shot a gallon of water at a time that had a backpack you would wear with 2 shots. Man I wanted that to be real.
Another product of the 80s that would never happen today but man were they fun! I used to dress up like a commando and pretend I would be on a mission in the woods haha
The Super Soaker Electro-Storm & Lightning Storm models use the same 4-"AA" power arrangement, but incorporate a simpler pump that simply kneads a section of surgical tubing along part of it's length, which makes it far-easier to clean & repair. Plus it's firing rate/output is better, and the Lightning Storm can use all the larger clips/tanks made for the series.
Remember these. I had the Baretta 9mm back in 1988 when they made them neon colors. They were forced to stop making the original black guns because they looked too real and criminals were using them for stick-ups. And police were killing people who carried them. I miss the days when kids could play with realistic looking toy guns.
I had two black Barettas, the pump shotgun, a non Entertech uzi, and two cap guns that looked like real weapons. Glad I didn't run into the cops running around my neighborhood with those.
so sure i had one of thos with out the red tips ..ok was the water blaster and sound types so burnt though the AA battery's to my parents hate lol so so loved it cos i thought i my head it was the / a real one lol ..... PS love the videos a real fan here ... and ya wising the A-team team song nice touch LOL
Casually hums a certain 80's theme tune while rebuilding a toy pistol.... Hahahahaha. I used to be an airsoft mechanic and I did that all the time! And every entertech water pistol I've ever own/used leaked!
I think you're remembering differently, that seems to be about what I remember, but we're the same age, so I haven't seen a new one in action in over 30 years
The water guns I had in the 70's and 80's (before super soakers) were pretty weak. It was more effective to just cup water in your hands and throw it. (We still had fun, though!)
This makes me think of the 80s toy “the animal” or as it’s identified those battery powered trucks with the animal claws that come out of the tires.... I wonder if they make replacement wheels for them... that rubber has to be totally deteriorated by this point
Later that Day. Michael was heard to have said.. "Be Vewy Vewy Qwiet.. I am hunting Bwoken Vadahs....Huh Huh Huh!" Broken Vader had No Comment.. worth repeating.
I think the squeak may be from running it dry, I imagine the pump sort of depends on a certain amount of water flow to help keep it lubricated. I notice seemed to squeak less with the water in it.
The whole video I'm thinking I remember these guns and I knew the controversy....but did I actually own one? Then as soon as you got the motor to run and I heard the sound, it came flooding back to me the way I would run around and spray my younger siblings! BTW, the A-team music and Hannibal jacket were great touches.
Super soakers were more effective and didn't require batteries. That probably didn't help with longevity of this style of water pistol. But it sure looks bad ass.
Lowkey, kinda disappointed that we didn't see Michael loading up the water tank in a shot similar to the Shadow the Hedgehog intro. Still, pretty sure this thing works better than any of the water guns I ever had growing up...Though I may have just had really crappy water guns.
I remember these being used back in summer camp by the college age counselors circa the 80s. I can easily see why they no longer make these as they look a lot like the real deal. Still I know we had a couple as kids (3 brothers) but I doubt they’re hidden at our parents anymore.
Sir... Michael I guess it is... I just got a Rambo RPG watergun made by entertech. It was not working and I soldered a wire by the battery area and now the motor works. But water won't shoot out. The water tube seems clear. Not sure it'll pop apart as nicely as yours did. Any thoughts on how to get it to shoot?
Awesome i was wondering do you also have a cap gun collection from the 80's when i was growing up we used to have whole block shootouts acting out the A-Team 😆
I really hated it back then when they started putting orange tips and then really bright colors on toy guns. As it ruined verisimilitude when pretending to be Rambo or something. Though looking back, it was probably the right move to help keep kids safe. And if I were to get a toy gun today for a child today, I'd only get the brightly colored ones of today vs. getting an old realistic looking one like what I had played with.
You whistling the A-Team theme just made me think of the construction montages in the show. 😎👍
Wish I could give this comment two thumbs up!
Ditto!
Holy smokes! Nostalgia! I forgot about these until seeing your video. I had several of these and loved blasting my little brother, cars driving by, and my dog!
Watching Michael repair toys is like watching Bob Ross paint.
lol so true ,,,well said

Did you use water with red food coloring mixed-in? I did that with my motorized M-16 auto-fire water rifle, and boy, did I start panic! ;)
Ha! I will also whistle The A-Team theme at work. Usually when it's a crazy day. Keep up the great work!
Love the “pew pew” sound the pump makes!

My brother had a bright yellow with tiger stripes and a lime green tinier something with tigerstripes
Very satisfying to see the Entertech Centerfire fully operational again. From memory I had a fluorescent orange one!
Analog Toys - yeah, I was one of those who got lucky and got one before they changed colors - thank God I never got shot as much as I ran around my neighborhood with mine....
I love it when a water gun comes together. ;) . . . or is it plan.
The water gleaming in the sun looked pretty cool. Great results. :)
80's toys appearing in 80's TV was when I usually stood up off the couch pointing at the TV like a crazy person. Like season 1 Miami Vice where a random goon is playing with a Shockwave.
Jason Anderson had that moment with the movie HOUSE where the toddler plays with buzz off and a kenner Batmobile.
I had one and played with it a few times(they broke easily) but the power is the same as I remember. everything was better when we were kids, lol

Obviously, " rooting around " is Michael's code for " Playing with! " 😁
Great video as always retroblasting, love the sound of the water gun "pew pew" 😁
Mine used to leak back in the 80s, so I'd say yours is in working order!
Doctor French with another successful operation!
It probably just seems like it used to shoot further cuz you were shorter back then.
They never shot far. 20 feet maybe

Had the M-16. SO MUCH FUN! :)
OH MY GOD I HAD ONE OF THOSE! Best water gun I ever saw...
I remember wanting these for Christmas back in day.
Even though I hardly remember watching the A-team on TV I sure as hell know when Michael whistles the theme song!
The laser tag blaster doesn't even look like a real gun. It's like a science fiction futuristic thing.
I want one of those more than anything
Awesome job!! I had one that was green with black animal stripes those battery doors always where a PITA!!!

This takes me back. Entertech water guns were cool but they didn't stand up to play very well. They would tend wear out in a matter of months.
Forgotten toy of the 80s. Never had one but my neighbor had a bunch for him and I to use.
A-Team theme song. Hell yea! 🤘

Like the Nintendo Zappers and G1 Megatrons
@@larrychilders6599 Sadly. Used to be kids could play with those all day long until the crack epidemic crime wave of the mid to late 80s.

I had the Entertech Uzi water-gun. Unfortunately, burned its motor out a long time ago.

What was the name of the late 80's toy guns that could break apart and become little army fortifications and such?

Can’t have those around anymore. They’re “problematic”. But it’s very satisfying to see you repair them.
Seals must be worn out as well as the motor. Your memory might be spot on, but the equipment seen better days.
Hey Michael!!
No Oil , lube or grease on the gears? Similar to what is used on RC cars might make it less rough sounding
My first thought when Michael started whistling the A-Team Theme song was, Oh no this video's going to get Demonetized because of that.
As for it leaking, perhaps that's why they sealed it with glue?
I've still got my Uzi, not sure if it works though.
I had a uzi. The clip held the water. It was powered by 4 aa batteries.
