    I love what you do. For what it's worth, here's my free input- you get what you pay for. Seems as though most of the silicon carbide granules would settle at the bottom of the felt. They are also very hard, so for them to be more effective, shouldn't the pad also be hard? Just a thought. Thanks for sharing

    • @meMiner
      @meMiner  6 лет назад +1

      For sure many got thru the pad as the vibrating continued. I actually really liked the sandpaper and will try to cut some full sheets and see how they work. I looked around online and nobody else is doing this, so there must be a reason, but I cannot think of what it is. Except, most people probably have a trim saw and don't have the wheel marks to contend with. Thanks for your feedback.

      I am going nuts trying to find the right rock to cut. In the end, I want a couple of 3.5" cubes. Because my tile saw blade is 7", that will be a max cut and anything larger will get stuck in the saw. I have plenty of smaller rocks or funny shaped rocks, but nothing yet that I can cut a good cube. I will look over my stash of rocks again today to see if I can find something that will work. Once again, I am handcuffed with a small saw.

      I like the way you think. I recently bought a small flat lap and will set it up this winter to try to make some jewelry. It might make me pay more attention in the future.

    I usually take the rock I'm cutting and hold it up against the side of the blade after I cut it and rotate it different directions while leaveing the flat sutface on the blade until it's super flat and the saw blade marks are out.

    That is a fantastic epidote specimen, where did you find it?

    • @meMiner

      Old iron mine in south-east Ontario. It is under new ownership and was closed to collecting this year.

    That’s so COOL!!!! Question, what ratio do u dilute the muriatic acid? And did you make the acid dropper?

    • @meMiner
      @meMiner  6 лет назад

      I usually dilute 4:1 water:acid. The dropper was one that I had from gold prospecting. It was supposed to be used to suck up fine gold from a pan.

    I did not get it. Do you use hydrochloric acid to dissolve the calcite ?
    Thanks

      Yes. Vinegar will do it too, but diluted muriatic is faster. Just do it outside and safely

      @@meMiner Thanks. Just realized that muriatic acid was hydrochloric acid. Never heard this word in France but I was probably focused on something else during chemistry courses in high school. I loved physics and maths.

    It amazes me when I see that people don't like a video. They could just watch part of it and leave but nooooo... they have to click dislike. It's not even a political video or hate video or anything negative at all. Sad that people have little else to do but complain. Sorry I complain about people who do that. :)

    • @meMiner
      @meMiner  6 лет назад +3

      For sure, it would be helpful if they provided some feedback as to what bothered them so much. In fact, I have learned from people who provided Constructive criticism. I continue to try my best and try to improve video quality over time. However, at the end of the day, I do this for fun and recognize that I am and will remain an amateur. Thanks for your support.
