Really enjoyed watching…You popped up on RUclips this morning. I watched that video and now this. I like the way you give very clear instructions and examples, and the filming is really good too, easy to see what you are doing. Thank you…Dottie (UK)
I just found you through RUclips suggestion. Amazing teaching skills you just shared. I needed this so thank you for sharing your talent. Can't wait to go back and start this series from the beginning. I just subscribed, of course, and I'm thankful I can be notified for ALL your videos. Don't forget to do those 2 things, this talented woman deserves it, for us who watch. Thanks again... Barb from Tombstone
Hi…I just came across your channel, and I subscribed. Your work is beautiful … and unique! I have a question. You used a scant quarter inch In part of a block. Why!?!? ☺️ I made a four-patch tonight and that’s the extent of my quilting, other than QAYG. Anyway, a scant quarter inch is scary. There are so many videos that teach how to do it. Anyway, would you please tell me why it was important in that particular part of your block? I need to know because I would like to use some of your ideas. Thank you!
A scant quarter is always good to use as a general rule. It does a couple of things: 1) It will help to account for the thickness of your fabric to allow your points to lay right on the seam, 2) it will allow for your block to be just a touch bigger. The second is the reason why I pointed it out in the color video. When making the 2 at a time HST, you draw a diagonal and stitch 1/4” on either side. If you stitch a scant 1/4” then you’ll have a slightly larger block that will aid in trimming later. It’s always helpful on foundational blocks like the HST to make it larger and trim down.
Press toward side with less seams! Easy concise to remember thank you!
