When that media person asked what would india be without british rule, my question is what would so called prosperous britain be without the 59 trillion doller they looted from india.

HIS WAY OF SPEAKING AND COMMAND OVER ENGLISH LANGUAGE JUST MESMERIZE THE AUDIANCE. HE REALLY DESERVES TO BE THE BEST PRIME MINISTER AFTER NEHRU. HIS MODESTY AND COURTESY ARE WORTH EMULATING. Only a true patriot like Dr Tharoor can criticise the British based on not just hearsay facts but on actual happenings that the British dared to commit and get away with. We salute his knowledge of history and a man of his stature actually belongs to the whole world. He is the only person it seems who has such vast knowledge of the true history of the subcontinent and also at the same time the courage to disclose that truth without any fear or favour. Undoubtedly an unparalleled personality held in high esteem by, I am sure, the whole world. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

Words 'freedom' or 'individual human rights' were foreign to Indian culture. Vegetarian community had accepted Muslim minority's rule as will of God. Plus, internal discrimination in Hinduism had snatched all kind of rights from low caste communities.
So atleast Hindus shouldn't criticise British occupation for apartheid or trampling of human rights. One could argue that Britain could have done more for general progress of Indians. But so far as individual human rights and equality among Indians ( leaving tiny European population aside ) were concerned, Britain left a very positive impression on Indian culture. Even low caste could compete in Indian Civil Service examination and become an administrator. This was a change which Britain brought to India. It is upto Indians whether they take it as a positive change or violation of their religious teachings.

How many times the Great Britain was invaded by invaders? Britain was under the constant invasions of Celts, Romans, Anglo-Saxons, and Normans. We don't need to address our country as British India, moreover what we have to rather explicate is Celtic Britain, Roman Britain, Norman Britain and Anglo-Saxon Britain.

And when India is doing same thing in Kashmir . They ban the press , speech and every other freedom . Google it, for how much time internet was shutdown from Kashmir in the past years. You'll get the idea that it's the same thing India is doing with Kashmir what was done to them by British . And indeed Indians are proud too of there autocratic rule in Kashmir. So i guess it's basic human nature to be overwhelmed and be proud of his power when used to curb down innocent voices
