No it’s not 😢. The growth is the reason for all of this. It’s supposed to be a quiet sacred place to rejuvenate like it used to be…not a party destination.
Been here so many times for over 15 times , last time I went pre lockdown was started to see a change , the drug cartels started to move in , it used to be a safe family spot - but I was told by a cabana worker to always keep my children close - frightening.
Just got back from there went for a music festival that was at buuts ha Cenote and there was a shooting that happened between rival drug gangs no one got hurt but it was a a terrifying experience, got extorted by police 3 separate times for a total of almost $700 us and saw a guy get forced and beat up into a taxi, in conclusion I couldn’t wait to leave and did not feel safe at all.
Tulum is such a beautiful gem! Hope the crime situation improves.
