saw him in concert a few years ago in houston with a 10 piece band that was also incredibly talented. Unfortunately, he didnt play this masterpiece but he did play some Dire Straits songs so still an awesome show..... 2019 I think

I think this could easily be his most "advanced" guitar playing in terms of scales use, chromatics, etc. You can totally hear that he's having lots of fun improvising, moving out of the tone a little, etc. From here, he started using less and less notes, while using his classic lick repertoire and slow playing "feeling" which is not a bad thing by the way. Such a shame they didn't included this masterpiece in the On the Night DVD, keeping cheesy themes like "The bug" . I will cover this exact ending solo soon , I think it's totally worth it to learn it!!!!
The music is great, I hadn't heard Planet of New Orleans live before. In some ways the video is a bit stupid, but its better than a slideshow I reckon. But the quality of music counters off all that. - its excellent for RUclips!! Thankyou for posting!
None of the shows they recorded had it in the set list. It wasn't played much on the tour. Which is a shame as it's one of the best songs on the album and an amazing live performance. They should have recorded a lot more shows, Italy, France and Spain had some incredible performances.

This track is not listed on tracks for the DVD release. I have this on VHS, but only want the DVD if it includes this track. Is there a specific release I should be looking for?
i don´t mind the video editing, but if you could not raise the volume of the audio track so much....Crank the speakers´s volume a bit, and the sound gets very distorted...

But the way they play on the images does not match the way "Planet of New Orleans" would be played.
