I’ve just bought farrow and ball eggshell for my UPVC front door... just realised that it says it’s for wood and metal, did you use this one please.. how is the door holding up ?
Hi . Which farrow and ball did you i Use estate eggshell ? Have noticed they have exterior eggshell on their website also ? Am gonna be doing outside pvc windows. I was recommended rather farrow & ball or zinsser allcoat which has a self primer built in.
I used a brush and roller and laid off with a brush as they were small panels. On big flat doors I use a short pile microfiber sleeve and lay off with the roller. Cheers Dan 🍻
The best thing to prep the door for undercoat is to rub down with 'mirka mirlon scotch ultra fine' £20 for 10 metres ebay. Use with warm water and a bucket. This is used in the motor trade to make paint stick to car body panels and they work to more exacting standard than decorating. Use any outdoor primer, you don't need to rub down after priming. You only need two topcoats after primer. Follow this and your paint will cover like you won't believe. You can thank me later. LETDK.
I wasn’t really understanding so what’s the color of the grey and finish exactly I want my door the same color what was the 123 paint was that the primer ?????????????
i think Anthony was asking if he could only use Zinsser, ie Zinsser All Coat Exterior Satin, water based from Rawlins, it comes in hundreds of colours from website, very quick delivery too
Hi Daniel I'm thinking of painting a new composite pvc door can I use this technique with the sugar soap prep, 123 primer and farrow and ball exterior wood paint?

Great video - I followed this and my front door looks great. Although now I want to change the colour. Do I sand down the painted PVC before priming or do I paint on top of old paint?
Got to say Daniel that looks good, and saved a lot of people money. Question if you don't mind , was offered to paint an"Old glass fibre "double garage panelled door"... white, to be honest I bottled it because they wanted it" Black" ! Satin or near as possible just not gloss, the door was very pliable, especially the panels you could easily flex with your thumb. With all the etching/grip paints available eg Zinsser being one of the better, would you undertake painting a door as described, or advise client go the route as used in "marine" (boats) complicated & costly, but achieves the desired outcome . Cheers Mark
Hi. I'm going to attempt my own garage door soon which is self finished. I hear that Bedec Barn Paint is good and All Coat by Zinsser. Also MSP by Bedec. All Water based aswell. Test a patch out but remember it does take up to 7 days to cure.
@@markbusby9709 it's PVC. I think with the right primer you'll be ok with a satin or eggshell Top Coat. I still think the Farrow and Ball is the best as it's a nice flatter finish
@@danielnugent2168 can you confirm if its the farrow and ball exterior eggshell as I`ve been reading not recommended for exterior plastics, nice job by the way

Gret stuff Daniel
Was wondering which brand round sash brushes do you use/prefer?
Thinking of ordering some Hamilton’s.
Hi. I've gone on to Arroworthy as I find they last and also they are compatible with the Brushmate 20 box for solvent paint brushed.
Cheers Dan
Brilliant job mate. If painting the inside is interior egg shell needed or can I just use the exterior stuff? Worried about safety.
Yes you can as its all water based. Cheers Dan

There is now a B.I.N Aqua for primer but I use Caparol Haftprimer and defo exterior eggshell
Hi Dan, great work as always! Will Zinsser BIN work too as I have loads left and don’t want to go and get 123 or Otex Akva if I can avoid it! Thanks
Perfect to use
Is this the same method to use in internal pvc skirting boards?
Hi what did you use to prepare the door before primer
Hi.
I used Virasol which is a degreaser
You can pick it up on MyPaintbrush
Thanks did you key the door before so the paint sticks
No mate but you can use a sand pad. They are like a flexi sponge with a sand facing each side
Did you use brush and roller? When you use both, do you lay off with the brush after rolling? Thanks, mate.

Can I ask what's the best roller to use
Two Fussy Blokes rollers are good. Or Wooster or Arroworthy. All are microfiber. I would use a medium pile.
Can I use just Zinsser Allcoat Exterior Satin or should go with Zinsser 123 first and then separate colour? thank you
Zinsser all coat is a self priming and undercaoting and also a finish. Yes it has good adhesion aswell so you can use that neat. Cheers Dan

Hi. Yes they should do. If you can't see it then try B&Q or Brewers as they stock it.
Cheers Dan
If you go back on Farrow and Ball and look for Exterior Eggshell. That will work. As the Estate is interior. Cheers Dan
Did you end up putting 3 coats or 2
Three coats as it was over white primer. Cheers

No wear as of yet
