What you must know: only 2-3 day's before this recording Emma went through her periodic, every 5 months, stomach surgery (to replace the tube and the connections with the pumps she is depending on 22 hours a day). To minimize the risk to her vocal cords, she has made the choice to let it do without any anesthesia... This time it went wrong: instead of 15-20 minutes the doctor needed 1 hour to get it done (to be honest: I don't know how she can stand that. It gives me the shivers, just to think about it). Never the less: one day after this ordeal she showed up at the final rehearsal (pale as a sheet and in the warmest clothes imaginable) and here she stand: if nothing is wrong at all. Talking about determination!! I have seen a few interviews with Emma and André Rieu together on national tv: they have the upmost respect for each other and André is like a very protective grandfather for her. And that's not all: André Rieu has announced that Emma will be on tour with him and his orchestra in 2025 as well. By the way: Emma's mother is on tour as well: she gives Emma the extra care and support she needs. André said when asked about it: "You know Emma is still a child and I wouldn't take her on tour with us when her mother would not be with her every day of the week". And recently a very, very happy Emma announced that, thanks to André Rieu, she will have her very own concert on 21 October 2025 in the monumental Royal Concerthall in Amsterdam. This is something she is dreaming for since she did win "Voice Kids Holland" in 2021. Within 3 hours(!) after Emma made the announcement it was SOLD OUT.... Yes she absolutely is "Dancing On The Stars". When you seach on "Emma Kok" on youTube you will find many video's to react on. Emma sings since the age of 10-11and most of the videos do have decent sound quality. At age 12 she did a wonderful rendition of "Opportunity" (SIA). She was 12 at the time and, despite the blurry images (again: sound is good), you can see so clearly how her condition is hindering her growth.... Another wonderful song is "You raise me up", she performed during a memorial military service (WW II) this year. But she has done many more songs. What all the songs she performs have in common: somehow they are related to her own personal story. This is a gifted girl, born to sing.
Performing like this at 16 years old is beyond extraordinary. It's good to be alive, indeed, if only to see what this gifted young artist does next. Well done Emma. Brava! ♥🌹 Great reaction. More Emma please!
Andre said of her : she is a stage beast. She said she loves to sing for an audience, 12.000 or 30.000. Because there she is free from the pumps she is connected to 22 hrs per day. And then she fills and owns the stage. Andre and thus the orchestra follow her, she is in full control. Emma can whisper and it sounds strong, her strength. She has sung for millions and the whole world loves her. Thank you Emma for being who you are, a Grand Little Lady.
We were lucky enough to see her sing this on the Square two days after this video was shot. What a wonderful experience it was! Our thanks to all concerned, and expecially to Emma and Andre.
Now you know why millions of fans worldwide love Emma! We play her constantly, especially the songs that express her experience, like Let Me Be Butterfly, music festival video with English lyrics; and Strijder (Warrior), official video, with English lyrics. After she won Voice Kids there was a drive-past her home, cars blowing their horns, and her family provided refreshments to those who stopped.
Also You Raise me up, When you believe she did with April Darby. Al, excellent performances by Emma. She performs tomorrow evening and I hope someone records and shares it. Then Fred and Friends later this month on TV over there. She is really enjoying herself. Even the short national anthem she sang at a race track was beautiful.❤️❤️🇳🇱🇳🇱
Estou encantada pela voz e interpretação de Emma Kok, história de vida de muita superação. Viva Emma! Gratidão por seu talento! Obrigada pelo vídeo/ reação. Abraço do Sul do Brasil 🇧🇷
I love your reactions to Emma, and Dimash, and so many others. Highly recommend you check out Emma's "Hallelujah" done on Christmas Day last year, and also her home studio recording of "Come Back Home," when she was 14! Both are amazing.
she is such a great sweet and caring person. awesome singer. found her when voila came out and was big fan ever since. when that snarl comes is when she just belts out. would love to see her live but no north america tour.
For another great performance by Emma Kok search for Emma Kok & April Darby with the song When You Believe. Emma sang on the canals of Amsterdam with people in boats seeing her sing.
Kurtis, I'd have been surprised if you didn't get goosebumps. This new song is the result of her spending the last year watching, listening and learning with Andre and his orchestra, and when you spend that amount of time with the cream of the cream, it has an effect, an impact, Emma has made good use of her time with Andre and the JSO, and it's starting to show, her top notes are higher, and longer, even when she's belting them out, and she makes it look so effortless, but I know it's not, she is working incredibly hard to deliver performances of this quality, but the result we get from that is getting better and better with the passage of time, this performance on the Vrijthof raised the already high bar of perfection that Emma set last year, and then she delivered a gold medal performance that cleared that bar with ease, and she made it look so effortless, though the reality will be different, she is working very hard to deliver a performance that strong and powerful, which will have significant energy implications, but that's Emma, she is a warrior, and determined to not let gastroparesis define her life. The next performance you need to have a look at was her preview of the concert she's guest appearing in next January, she appeared at the start of season awards show, and previewed 2 Disney songs, and this is an even stronger performance that Dancing on the stars, in that she's moving more, which tends not to happen on Andre's concerts, and again, she's putting significant power and strength into these songs, and finished it out with a classic Emma top note, delivered with huge power, and then she brings her hand down so powerfully, all her movements through the performance were so precise, so controlled, it was a sublime performance, on RUclips, ruclips.net/video/Ll1uR_HUOP8/видео.html The other performances you need to be aware of were her songs from the annual commemoration concerts that are remembering the huge number of lives lost liberating the Netherlands from German occupation during WWII, the most important was in Amsterdam, in the presence of the Dutch Royal family and many high ranking politicians, she sang a stunning duet with April Darby, a cover of 'When you believe' ruclips.net/video/YG8WV1GFt_c/видео.html From the Haag concert, done by KMKJWF, a cover of a technically and emotionally challenging song by Demi Levato,'Father ruclips.net/video/zXWBj7-edWU/видео.html More recent version of 'Hero' fron Amare Den Haag, 8 May 2024 ruclips.net/video/rohP0V3ECRY/видео.html More recent version of 'you raise me up', ruclips.net/video/NIXB7TbeMvw/видео.html There is so much more, and a search of RUclips for Emma Kok will find a lot of her peformances, my close is important, the only thing that can stop Emma now is her health, and that's why I am going to repeat my appeal to everyone listening or reading, if at all possible, please make a (regular) donation to Emma's foundation, who are working to find better treatments, or ideally, a cure for the illness that at the moment has no cure, and also can have devastating implications for sufferers, many of whom have taken their own lives as a result of the intense pressure and stress that the discipline of living with gastroparesis imposes on them. I know from recent social media posts, she still finds the unrelenting daily limitations of tube feeding incredibly hard to cope with at times, despite that she's loving the singing with Andre, which she regards as her therapy. She posted some heart breaking photos and comments from her holiday in Portugal, having to use her wheelchair after a time swimming, even then, at a time when the family were relaxing and enjoying a break away from their normal lives, Emma had no relief, no escape from the mental and physical pain of having to live with the numbing discipline of the 22 hours every day with the pumps attached to her, her ongoing lack of stamina that hugely limits and impacts on her life and desire to be free, and she never talks about the physical pain that so often is a side effect of the failure of her stomach to properly process the contents, or the indescribable pain of the procedure to replace her feeding tubes, which she endures every 5 months, without anaesthetic, to avoid any risk of damage to her voice. Her most recent change of stoma and feeding tubes (Her Mickey button) happened only 3 days before the first Vrijthof concert In Maastricht in July, and it went wrong, and took well over an hour compared to the normal 20 to 30 minutes, a video of the rehearsals the next day made it very evident that she was still suffering, she had to wear a winter coat to keep warm, and this procedure has to happen every 5 months. Emma's foundation can be found at gastrostars.nl Please, if at all possible, join me in making a (regular) contribution to her foundation, to enable them to help patients like Emma, and research this awful disease that has affected her from birth, and required her to be tied to the pumps and feeding tubes since she was 9 MONTHS old, for 22 hours a day, hopefully, the work of her foundation will find a cure. Please also be very careful if you post or respond to anything from Emma on social media, her increased visibility has resulted in significant numbers of bad actors creating fake accounts, the ONLY valid web site that supports Emma and others like her is the gastrostars site. One of the main people in Gastrostars is a surgeon who has a lot of experience in treating gastroparesis, and she is not only a surgeon, but also suffers from the same disease herself, to the extent that as a result of her condition worsening, she's had to leave her role in the hospital, and she is now dedicated to the foundation, and working to help find possible new treatments, or even better the cure that will free people like Emma to live a more normal life, rather than be tied to the feeding pumps for so many hours every day. It will be so good if the work of Emma's foundation can lead to a better treatment, or even a cure, which will free her to do more singing, and it may be people here who make that possible.
Yep, she got you hooked, just like she did me. Emma is amazing, genuine, full of passion, powerful, inspirational and pure goodness. I've suggested a couple of songs in the comments of Voilá: -Father: The setting, the cause, her rendition. It all just got to me and a performance you just can't miss: ruclips.net/video/y554GsqMHj8/видео.htmlsi=zanQpUhk5V14cf50
So young, but she's the next Whitney Houston, no disrespect to other great singers but she still hasn't touched her full potential and she has the deep voice of you better listen still. Adele didn't even have those middle vocals, Emma is gentle at low with a great high pitch. You can tell her voice will only get higher as she ages. At that age, its lessons but more so just natural talent. I hope this music makes a comeback just for her sake.
