I was in loved with this plant but I was unable to get it's cutting and can't afford to buy it.. after watching this video am extremely happy that it can be grown by it's leaf also. Now am definitely going to grow my most favorite plant.
Hi Ajk, I thinks this will work also on ficus microcarpa. I made a video on propagating this plant before. Here's the link: ruclips.net/video/1tNYJ6LQXzo/видео.html
Hi Rajwinder, sorry to hear that. Maybe there is a problem with the level of water in your propagation. Also, as you can see in this video, the tip of the leaves are only touching the water. Avoid soaking any part of the leaf.
I understand you can root the leaves from the methods shown. But from other utubers, it is not possible to grow the ficus leaves into plants... Please confirm it is only this type of fibcus can propagate the leaf into a plant. Thank you
Hi Bren Ley, based on my experience, the leaf itself will not turn into new plant. It will grow roots only unlike other leaf cuttings such as zz plants and snake plants that will produce babies from the cuttings.
Hi Amanda, based on my experience, the leaf cutting will grow roots only. Unlike other leaf cuttings that I have propagated such as zz plant and sansevierias that will produce new babies from the leaf cuttings.
@@AdelaBespejo are you still claiming that small shoots will come out from the leaf/it's roots? I'm asking this because everywhere else on the Internet it is written that it's impossible...
Hi Dolores, sorry for the late response. In the case of Ficus, it is not possible, unlike zz plants and sansevierias. These plants are already proven to give new babies from their leaf cuttings alone. Sorry for the mis informantion.
Hi Sumita, I also noticed that roots in soil propagation is better compared to water. I used 30% coco peat and 70% pure cow dung manure. They are perfect for propagation of ficus in this video. Thanks :)
@@AdelaBespejo Thanks so much, Adela, for the quick response. Much appreciated. Will give this soil medium a try. Have seen your other videos too. Your leaf and stem cuttings always grow beauyifully. Thanks again.
@@AdelaBespejo I do have a couple of queries more. So, do I post them here or under related videos posted by you? Like I have a query related to ZZ plant, which I think I should post on your video on the said plant.
Can you please update how to grow further. And btw how long does it take to further develop. Thanks. I have rooted the same Ficus Retusa but it won’t develop further. It’s been about 3 months now that the roots have developed but won’t develop anything other than the roots. Thanks
Hi, in this video it took 26 days for the roots to appear. But it will not grow new plant, unlike the zz plants and snake plants which I have proven to be propagated well by leaf cuttings.
Hi Amjad, based on my experience, it is possible to propagate in coir / coco peat. I already tried propagating snake plants. Here:> ruclips.net/video/ObVS-yUZteQ/видео.html
this will not grow another tree it will just root until the leaves die
was gonna ask that
will the leaf survive in to being a tree? Thanks in advance
What percentage developed a new stem?

Do you need a portion of the stem to sprout a new plant? Is that possible with all Ficus trees?
Hi, in this video, this procedure is only applicable for this variety of ficus which is Ficus Retusa.
I did soil propagation of ficus starlight/ficus safari....with one leaf..and it was successful...😍
