Yes, I can understand. There is no perfect gear for a man. We simply have to try to do the best we can with what we have. Price of gear is also a variable here.
Yeah definitely, atm I'm mostly playing with Koala sampler for ambient, haven't made a video yet as I expect most people won't care about a phone or iPad performance hehe
@@galactictapes that’s good to know. probably better with an external sequencer then. I was thinking it’d be cool with my Digitone and it’s 4 sequenceable midi tracks. It’s nice at least they have all of those knobs laid out.
Superb ! It would be great to hear a longer version of this, it demo's the capabilities of the SH-4D very well, but felt like it had only just got started when it finished. No complaint though, lovely piece of work and very enjoyable - almost a modern, dark Tangerine Dream vibe to it, a bit like Thorsten Quaeschning's "Cargo" album. Really good. 😀
Hey no worries, I know what it's like !!! Great for inspiration though, I keep coming back to it to give me a springboard to kick off my own ideas. Thanks again, love it !!@@galactictapes
Awesome music...thank you for that. Question please: You wrote in another thread: "Thanks so much. I actually ended up selling mine. I was getting too frustrated with the sequencer." - I can see that this sequencer is quite limiting. I would like to take a little synth/sequencer on vacation soon and I would like to ask if there is a portable synth/sequencer that has a more comprehensive sequencer. Thank you for any info that you have.
Hey, sequencers are always a question of taste. In terms of small and portable, my favs are the op-z, even tho it's sound engines are dated, and the polyend tracker mini, but you need to be into the tracker workflow and accept that you don't have keys. I also really like the M8 but they are super hard to get a hold of nowadays. Those are my picks, but yeah it's so much dependent on how I like to do music. I have friends who swear by Roland sequencers.
Thank you! I'm really liking it. Plenty of hands-on controls, sounds great, plenty of effects ... I was not in love with the sequencer at first but I'm warming up to it.
@@galactictapes yes my only worry was the sequencer or lack of song mode maybe 🤔 they will add in future but I love the sound and sound shaping the sequencer is not that bad though ?
It’s not great, some simple things do take a while… I will usually redo live recording over fixing one note in a line. That said per step automation is well represented and easy to visualize and modify. I find the storage model a bit convoluted but at least I can understand what they tried to do, when I stopped fighting it it started going better hehe.
I don't think so, afaik, I heard it doesn't support sysex either. But don't quote me on this. I've only been using the full device backup function so far.
The pad is the parch 032 Cinematic for the sh4d. I changed the envelopes to be more to my liking, I changed the lfo to move the filter slightly. The rest of it is all about effects. I have a send to INTEGRA7Rev at 127 and I increased the time to 2.6 secs. Chorus is also at 127. Tone fx is the default for the patch I think which is a Tape Echo. I also have a master fx set to a bit crusher with sample rate at 32 and bit down at 8. That’s all I remember changing from the default patch. During the song that is the sound I have selected, so it is the one affected when I move the cut off knob. I hope this answer your question :)
👍Nice ! Subscribed...

Wow, probably the best I've heard with sh-4d. I am in temptation to buy one. :)
Thanks so much. I actually ended up selling mine. I was getting too frustrated with the sequencer.

@@galactictapes I'm thinking of getting a SH-4D. Can you tell me what was frustrating about the sequencer?
Roland is always quality music
From one Tapes to another, sounds awesome!! The 4D sounds rich and full. subbed!
Thank you good sir. I sold the sh-4d a while back… your comment made me repurchase it :)
@@galactictapes oh awesome!! It’s very tempting to me as well. Such cool sound design possibilities.
@DarkTapes it’s a mix bag, I dislike the sequencer and project management. But the synth engines and fx sound great with a bunch of desiccated knobs

your music and art is just magnificent
I grant you my subscription

Many thanks from Canada :)
Very nice arrangement and sounds. Inspiring🎉
I actually ended up selling mine… I have been missing it lately though.

Thank you!! Yeah, I haven't produced anything since because all my attempts to make this longer have failed so far lol

Beautiful creation!
Thank you good sir!
My ears thank you.
And thanks to your ears for listening ☺️
Nice job !
Thank you 🙏
Very nice. Not your standard boomy Groovebox 😅
Relaxing and taking me on a voyage...
Thank you! That was the mood when playing it too :)
Like that a lot, good work. Got my SH-4d about a month ago, hardly had time to get to know it. Must make the effort!
Thank you, and yeah for me it's been worth the time. I mean even as a preset playback machine it's nice :)
I was reading there's no software for it. Is that true? Like not even a librarian?
Sorry just saw your comments. Not yet from what I saw. It doesn't take sysex. Someone might be able to make an editor with CC i think.
@@galactictapes Ugh Roland smh. That's on them. Kind of disappointing to learn that. The synth looks gorgeous tho
good job. Looking forward to trying the sh-4d
Thank you! I don't finish a lot of projects with it so far, but it sure is fun to noodle with
Beautiful 👍😁
Thank you 🙏
That was dam good 👍 loving the sh-4d
Same here, it's slowly becoming my favorite piece of gear.
Really nice demo of the unit.
Thank you!
like it. like it a lot. jam on it.
That's coming... I decided to add another section with some jam brass... We'll see how it ends up :)... And thank you!!
Nice work.
Thank you 🙏
Sounds great! Thanks for sharing, just subbed.
Thank you :)
Great sounds!
Thanks :)
Niceness
Noice!
Roland’s recent throw enough synths at the wall tactic finally payed off!
ACTUALLY TEMPTED TO BUY ONE ...

is this only SH-4D? or did you ad external patches, filters or something? great stuff!
Thank you! I added some compression in post but that's about it. The shimmer reverb on it can sound massive.
Great track! And how do you make the visuals? Cheers!
Thanks 🙏. The visuals were done in clipchamp, using free assets.
nice track! no external processing/effects?
Thank you, this is taken from the output into a zoom recorder, then I did some compression for volume with Ozone.
This was very nice had the stranger things vibe how ya liking the machine ?

If you removeyour .eft hand , I could learn how to program this wonderful machine ..
yes this is the way! very nicely composed
Thank you! I have spoken :)
Is there a librarian or something for the sh?

@@galactictapes thank you for the information and thanks for the cool video & music !
My pleasure and thanks for listening :)
Very nice
It sounds like a VST plugin. I will not pay 400 Euros for a VST plug in.
You can't snort blow off of a VST plug in, though.
For me sound matters but also tactile feeling, it's nice having so much control on board. But yeah to each their own :)
Ok
A hardware synth that doesn't sound as good as a good plugin is a failed/budget synth, buddy.
