- What up, Fam? Today we get our stealth assassin on and learn how to make a ninja smoke bomb. Well... More of a powder bomb really. Metsubushi (or "eye crusher") was the feudal Japanese version of pepper spray. It also helped to give rise to the ninja's legendary ability to disappear in a cloud of smoke.
So, put on some black footy pajamas and get ready for a stealth mission!

Does it actually explode
OK. Now to elevate this you stick a semi-powerful firecracker inside and tape a match to the wic. this allows you to rub it against a striking surface and toss the egg. the explosion will more effectively disperse the powder around. the bang will also startle the victim allowing for you to more easily escape.
I really liked your craft and video, but i really wanted to see more of them exploding on a dummy at the end of the video... to see how nice it explodes.

So times they would use glass dust or salt dust but depending on the mission. If you use salt or a red pepper it would be like a Edo Japanese pepper spray.

add gunpowder, magnesum or flint, and those match heads to make more smoke and flash
XD My D&D rogue made a dozen of these. She used flour, sugar, cinnamon, and gunpowder as her irritant mix. My DM decided that they cause a bit of damage on impact because of the gunpowder.

Absolutely! Have fun with it. There is a celebration in India that use powdered pigments which are thrown in a riot of colors. If you look up "Rangoli holi colors" you can find some on amazon. They are beautiful and would make a really cool pop of color. Also, they are water soluble and will wash right out.

I usually just use a Caster Fern and a Sootfoot Root.
Only one concern...how to keep them from shattering in your ninja costume?
Batman style utility belt with hard cylindrical holders? Off the top of my head. Though, I think most ninja were just dressed like regular people while infultrating. They could have probably just had it in theid bag and been careful.

One Togakure Ryu technique was to pour a thick layer of wax over the EGG, not so hard that you could not break it by hand, but hard enough that it could possibly survive a slight fall and to carry them in a padded bag. Another secret technique was to put a specific shape on the wax of the EGG so you could identify the type (of Metsubushi) by hand (so when you pulled it out to use it, you did not have to look at it to know which one you were using) when reaching into the bag. There are many different types of Metsubushi, some were just powder with metal shavings to be thrown in the enemies eyes, others could have poison in them or even fire accelerant's and or black powder in them to cause a fire or small explosion.
PS- those that say, "Well how were they going to light the powder to cause a fire or explosion?" Easy, back then they used Torches and Candles for light, so they would throw them into or smash them above the Light and Poof Fire/Explosion.

It is just to dry them out really so only 10 minutes or so.😁
Do you not use gunpowder or match stick ends?
Not for this build. These are more "pepper spray" than "flashbang". Crush in your hand and throw the powder/irritant.

Probably, microwaves will definitely dry them out

Take a page from real ninjas and use crushed glass and burn it with flame so graphite and soot on the egg paired with powdered glass.
