My son just bought a CPO 2017 GC Jeep Limited . This same exact color in the Vid. He loves it already. I do too. With 20K miles on the Clock as a CPO vehicle, he paid $26,200. Plus taxes and DMV. Got a 3.22% Used car loan for 72 months via the Dealer and added the Extended Warranty thru Zurich for add'l $20 per month. Through the CPO program, he has 7 years / 100,000 powertrain warranty. My compliments to White Plains Jeep / Chrysler , who were terrific and pleasant to deal with.
Just got one 4×4 limited sport edition black 49k at $30k yes its high but this suv will hold value for days And yes the limited air suspension is smooth!
I just spent a week with an almost brand new (4,000 miles) rental GC Limited (2016) in Central Texas.. It was in the upper 90's all week with high humidity. I can tell you that the GC was a pretty good suv.. BUT, a few things I noticed during my time with the the car; Weak A/C, Full blast was never enough.. The air conditioned/cooling seats were nice, but i noticed they were weak even at it's highest settings. and when I had the A/C AND the cooling seats going at the same time, it seemed to slow down the whole air conditioning system. Also, the auto-rear hatch did NOT have a close button, you had to use the key fob.. NO big deal, but certainly less than convenient for sure. Great ride and handling also VERY GOOD MPG.. I drove up and down the interstate at 85-90 miles an hour with no problem. I got 20-25 MPG all day long.. Build quality was OK, i noticed a few squeaks and rattles from around the cabin, not good for an almost brand new car.. The center console and center storage is a BAD design!! It has two fussy buttons that open 2 different compartments (one tiny and one medium sized) AGAIN, its just not convenient.. AND FINALLY the Navigation screen had a rather long delay when you start the car, So if you put it in reverse it won't show the rear back up camera right away. I found, that if I just let the screen go thru it's BOOT process (about 10-12 seconds) then everything would work seamlessly.. If I got right in and put it in reverse, it threw everything off. AGAIN, it's not terrible, just gosh darn irritating after getting in and out several times in a day. I think this is a good 'lease special' car.. certainly not a purchase, unless you got it way below invoice.. IN ALL HONESTY, If jeep would just go back over the details of the Grand Cherokee a bit more carefully and worked out the bugs , I think they would have something pretty nice here. This is where the Japanese and the Germans have us beat, they might not be perfect, but they take the time to sweat these operational/functional details. Hopefully the 2017 model addresses some of these less than savory issues, that if were done right, would really make this car worth owning.
I feel this comment is why people who rent a car can not give accurate "reviews". If you were to read and understand the owners manual you would know how to properly operate it. It does take a couple days to read the manual and go and play with the differences. This is why a lot of car renters just use base models-less confusion. The touch screen controls most of what you complained about. The air conditioning has 2 modes a/c and max a/c you also need to turn on the interior recirculating feature, when set properly it is ice cold, too cold actually. The seat ac is a fan that draws cabin air through the seat so as the cabin cools the seats will cool more as well, there are 3 settings for the seat fan as well. The rear hatch close button is on the left inside trim panel it is standard with power tailgate not an option, there is also a tailgate button on the ceiling console as well. having 2 center console compartments is a nice feature again you get used to which button to press, I have no squeaks or rattles from new or after several years, but it is a rental who knows what it's been through. As far as navigation, it does take 8-10 seconds to load but your complaint about the back up camera is caused by the setting for the camera is in delay mode not instant view, this again is changed with the touch screen, I feel like the renters before you were playing with all the factory set settings and changed them to less than optimal than you would have if you owned it. Jeep did sweat the details which is why the all the options on the screen is so complex that the vehicle can operate custom just for you, it is also why the owners manual is so thick. However as far as your comment once you set the vehicle up to your desires and understand how it all works it is a joy to own.
Nice!!! And finally you did the Pentastar engine!!! We have a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit with the same engine. Took it on a road trip from Wisconsin to New York. Best thing to drive in. Only thing that went wrong was the UConnect Navigation. And that's why it's in the shop right now. When the dealership tried to update it, it crashed XD And that's why they're replacing it right now. Stuck with a rental 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo at the moment. Best SUV ever. Switched from a 2005 Ford Explorer to this!
Cameron, still having trouble with those touch handles. you cant lock them while your hand is in the unlock sensor area like you did on the video for your jeep. you also have to wait 3 seconds after locking before attempting to unlock as you did here just trying to help not annoy.
I lease the 2017 Limited and have to be completely honest when I say I love certain things about this SUV, however, the 8.5" infotainment system truly sucks. I had nothing but trouble from day one, brought it back to the dealer and got the complete run around. 1) The U connect system is garbage, total garbage. I can't understand how that company is still in business. On Star is soooo much better you can't even compare the two. 2) my satellite radio does not work. The dealer says it's because I live in NYC and we have signal issues, total lie and cop-out. My 2014 Chevy impala I drove for 3 years in NYC never had one single issue and the Onstar was amazing. 3) the Cap-less gas cap has a ton of air gap issues when filling - extremely frustrating every time I fill up. BTW the miles per gallon you quoted total lie, not your fault Jeeps, sorry people deserve the truth. In a final analysis great off road SUV GARBAGE BAG infotainment system. Please boycott U-Connect and get the Laredo you will be just as happy and save a ton of money. The limited is way over rated pkg. Good Luck All!
Ok, I have 2 questions. 1. Can you get LED daytime running lights on the Limited? 2. Can you get Blind Spot Monitoring on the Limited? Btw, nice review!
Is the Jeep Grand Cherokee dangerous to own? With all the cars that catch on fire and running people over, is it still a safe family car? I've always wanted one of these.
Jeep made the recall in the 2014 and 2015 models. With the changes that were made in the shifter can not be more safer to drive. Now you can be 100% sure that when you put your shifter on park your car would not roll. I own a 2015 JGC Limited and I love my car!
If you had driven it maybe you would have found the transmission issues. The one I own need a new transmission at 12,000 due to rough erratic shifting issues.
Camerons Car Reviews n Not all the transmissions are going to fail, but enough are failing that it's something to be aware of. My dealer does the transmission repairs the surrounding Jeep dealerships and he told me he has had as many as 16 Jeep Grand Cherokees in his shop for transmission issues at one time.
"revised front fascia" can you please elaborate more? im welling to get limited 4x4 (with sunroof + 8" screen) from dealer here in my country, in my place dealers can get you 2016 instead of 2017 if there is no change. I know sound crazy but they do specially this car the 2016 was not allowed to be in country we just have 2015 and now 2017. Is there a away to know the car I'm buying is 2017 not 2016? thanks
I have a 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport (not a turbo). I feel the bumps all the time in this SUV. Would a Jeep be a lot better at handling potholes? Is there any other SUV that handles potholes better? Thanks for the info on the vid!
Nawang Namgyal newyorker here with a 2018 Overland, the quadra drive suspension fantastic and compared to my 2014 Overland, much much better at handling bumps. It’s independent on the 4 wheels which means that when one wheel hits a rock or bump only that wheel moves providing for a much smoother feeling drive.
Overall, a nice review. Thanks. Next time don't show the Joel Osteen station (tacky). Sound quality could have been better. The repeat section (played at 5min 30sec and again at 7min 28sec) should have been edited :-P
The reason you can't compare this to Mercedes Benz and bmw is because the build quality is extremely cheap on these. Bmw and Mercedes use premium materials and they pay attention to the way the car is assembled. Jeep has nice the design but the quality is crap.
I believe this is one of the reasons the Jeep Grand Wagoneer is coming back. It's going to be marketed as a Range Rover competitor, and far superior in luxury amenities in contrast with the Jeep Grand Cherokee which is still a very nice vehicle.
premium material? have you seen the new X5? everywhere is recycled plastic, also the benz with the "hoovering" screen is like they forgot about it and they decided to add it in the last minute.
Although, in the lower end trims of the Grand Cherokee, it competes with mid-sized SUV's such as the Nissan Murano, Subaru Outback, Ford Edge, Hyundai Santa Fe Sport, and the Kia Sorento. However, if you step up a trim or two, then it competes with the Land Rover LR4, and the Lexus GX, and on the SRT model of the Grand Cherokee, it competes with high performance mid-sized luxury SUV's such as the Mercedes Benz GLE63 AMG, and the BMW X5 M.
hey Cameron. a tree fell on my car this week and the insurance is giving me 10k. looking to get a new sedan or suv and don't want to spend more than 35k. I saw a 2015 Hyundai Genesis awd ultimate with 24k miles at car max for 35k which I am highly considering but do you have any other recommendations
That wasn't a review... that's called a walk-through. I want to know what you think about the features compared to the other models in its class. A more subjective video would help, less reading off a list of facts more of your impressions of the vehicle.

i drove this as a rental for about 3 weeks
amazing car!!!
Opening the trunk and showing cargo space should be a part of a review

I'm thinking about getting one of those grand Cherokee.

I'm planning to get one, how is the car? Is it worth buying?
good review, just your hand doesn't need to be in shot while showing/talking about the car
I have a 2015 overland 27000 miles and Im not happy. Lot of front suspension noises, need more torque. Im going to trade as soon as possible.

I just bought one so thank u for all the info

Yes, both those options and many other goodies are included on limited with the luxury II package.
Hey Cameron! Great review...how comfortable would you say the seats are? especially for a long drive
I have cloth seats and they're actually very comfortable for a long road trip
question:Does this vehicle offer cooling seats??
Yes, cooled seats come with luxury II package.
Does it matter if you drive it on eco mode or sport mode? Can u drive it on sport all the time?
