- This ended up a long one, longer than I thought it would be.
There's not much in the way of full breakdowns when it comes to these britches. I've also ballsed up and thought they were Atacama pants when they're actually the Mongolia Trail.
I think I've covered all the bases, these are one of the few overbot pants that fit over MX boots and bigger adventure boots like the Alpinestars Toucan.
Have a watch, please comment, I'm thick skinned so be critical, negative and positive.
Enjoy your riding!
All the best

Quick tip to get waterproofs over muddy boots, carry plastic bag put bag over boot, slide trousers over boots put bag in pocket easy
Good tip, cheers!
A real thorough and objective review. As soon as you started talking about the reality of how to deal with being caught in the rain my antennas went up because that’s a real life scenario that will quickly spoil your day if it can’t be easily overcome. For the life of me I can’t figure out how to effectively deal with water ingress in a moment’s notice. As you’ve so correctly pointed out, dealing with a sudden rain shower and having to dawn a rain jacket is totally different than trying to deal with getting rain pants on over dirty boots out in the middle of nowhere and unsheltered no less.
In total agreement! Waterproof trousers with good, easy to use, venting is the only solution, especially in temperate climates like the UK
GREAT review. It's nice to watch and listen to someone who has put some time in the pants as well as others for a comparison. I'm in the market for some new gear (was thinking Carlsbad) so I've been trying to find as many reviews as I can. Now you definitely have me considering others gear options.
Unfortunately a lot of RUclips reviews are more of a sales pitch, with no real seat time in the products. I've watched all you reviews, I appreciate the honestly and knowledge of the product that you pass on.
Thank you much for sharing and looking forward to your next video/reviews. Mike. New subscriber.
Ha, cool, thanks Mike! I'm not on commision, promise!
What is your assesment of "fit?: For those on the other side of the pond, a lot of Euro gear is styled and fitted for slimmer fit. My biggest struggle as a Yank with thick legs (power/olympic lifter) is that the thigh's dont fit. Whic means I have to go a size larger, which means the waist and inseam doesn't fit. It will drive a man mad. I'm fine with a "athletic" fit. I just need the stretch in the grain and seat.
Excellent review, thank you!
Thanks very much, you're a good egg
Love this review. Looking forward to the Poseidon review as well.
I'll have to do it! Just got a new pair, box fresh!
Just found this review. Very informative. Ive just bought these in a 34 reg and they are comfy on the waist, but a bit tight on the thighs. Did you find the loosend up a bit with use? Or just removing the hip protectors? I dont really want to return them as they look like a great pant. Thanks in advance!
They don’t really give with use you’ll have to run without the hip pads I think or go a size bigger
Great review...they are good trousers but in England and for the West of Ireland where I regularly go fully waterproof is a must. I don't mind putting a rain jacket on over my bike jacket, but rain trousers over your bike trousers is too much for me! Be interested to see your review of the Linesman jacket...? Cheers, Steve
Hi Steve, I sold my Linesman, should have done a review. It's a great jacket with little to fault in my mind, perfect for uk trail riding, and it's easy to throw a waterproof jacket over so the layering system works here for me.
Nice informative and through review been considering taking a dip on these, looking for over the boot trousers that hopefully won’t get ripped like your Ox Rainseal’s
Thanks Peter, they're the best britches I've had that aren't watertight, well thought out.
Thank you for posting, everything I needed to know :-)
You are very welcome!
Nice review! Just to make sure that I got everything right - you are 183 cm tall, weighing 92 kg, with 66 cm thighs, and the pants in the video is size 34 with regular length legs (32")? I'm asking because I'm about to purchase a pair and uncertain if I need a size 34 or 36 (I'm 183cm/88kg/60 cm thighs). Cheers T
100th like 🥳 thanks for the detailed review. If only they were waterproof.
Great review mate 🔥
Much appreciated fine sir!
As far as the waist, if I gain weight do I have a little room? I’m a 32 inch 33 in the winter, in your experience is it recommended to get the 34? Thank you again!
Yea, 34 for you my chum
Hey mate,Great in depth review. I'm in a similar-sized predicament and hoping you could help. I'm 13.8 stone (~88kg - sometimes lighter), ~185cm tall, my inseam is 32inch but the waist size is bothering me. With measuring tape I measure 38 inch around my waist; AS state the size you measure is the size you order. I usually wear size 34 or 36 pants/shorts. You reckon AS size 36 would be too big for you? AS recommended I should order 36' waist. Do the pants cinch down a lot around the waist? Or do they have a lot of stretch/forgiveness around the waist so should go with 34?Hope you can help.-Mark, in Australia
Sorry buddy, this is probably a bit late, I think you'll get away with a 34, a 36 will be roomy, not too big but lots of room. Suck that gut in! I think 36 would be a bit too much material to cinch in around the waist....
Great review and vid thanks
No bother, thank you
Nice review.
Thank you! Cheers!
Thanks for the Review, was about sending em back cause ive the same problem around the thighs but you wrote 36 were way to big, so i gonna go with 34. If you do some lifting, you get decent legs.... :)
Chunky monkey...legs
@@thegaragehermit7227 I ordered the 34, way to small around the upper leg... With 36 it wouldn fit around the waist anymore..
@@4zagi637 sorry bud, you must be squatting over 160kg then!
So would you say revit posidon are the best waterproof adventure trousers or would you still go for these with a waterproof over trouser?
I like the Rev-it very much, maybe not the best as I've not tried everything out there. In the UK or wet climates I'd go for the REV-it over fannying on with waterproof trousers. The AS are nice britches though.
Hello, I am interested in the Mongolia Trail Pant, however the size chart on the AS site poses a problem for me, according to their measurements, my size is getting closer to 34 while I usually take size 32 in many brands of motorcycle pants. can you tell me what size you have taken for your body shape. does it size small or large? thank you for giving me details.
thanks for the video.
I'd say if you take a 32 in most britches go for the 32 AS as they're true to size with room to spare. I take a 34 sometimes a 36 and the 34 is good, fitted. 36 was too big.... If in doubt buy multiple pairs on the credit card and return the ones that don't fit?
how to contact you?
Just a message on here? What are you after? Tips from The Hermit? ;-)
@@thegaragehermit7227 about sizing ... I am 178 cm height and I am not sure lenght of 32" should be fine?! can you pls tell me in centimeters tell me your waist, height and buts ? tnx

My review on your review. Start with the Title. In this context, "Tear down" should mean, disassembly, so your title is misleading. I would have not gone there but when you offered the word "Paints" for Americans. It tells me you are looking for an "English" speaking audience. As a yank, I could only understand maybe 30% of your presentation. It's not the vocabulary, it's the common issue that most RUclipsrs are not trained in voice over. The rhythm is the problem. People annunciate for a phrase or so, but then mumble. It's a frustrating sing-song of understanding to WTF did he say? My tip is to speak at a constant rate and over articulate your words. If your are exhausted 1 minute into the talk, and it feels wrong than you know you're doing it right. I click on your video hoping to find someone Teardown a pair of ADV trousers, Yes we know that word, as in "Drop Trow", well on to my hunt for someone who will talk about Hip and Ass armor in ADV pants.
I feel you my old mukker, I will do better when I get my arse (ass) into gear and do another video! ;-)
Thanks for the feedback...I will try harder!
