Thank you. This refreshed my memory. I have done this a couple of years ago on the driver side. Passenger side has a little wiggle in it. I noticed when I was rotating tires. Good time to check for play, wiggle. I have a Timken hub coming next week. 55 ft/lbs on hub bolts. Thanks again.
Finally, someone who likes Anti-Seize !!!!! Thank you. I've watched and done many of these; I've watched some who have spent countless hours (even a weekend) struggling with One bearing / hub and it doesn't seem to dawn on the installer what got them there in the first place (corrosion!) . Thanks for thinking of the next guy. I use it on the bearing surface as well!
Great work. Note: This job will apply to Olds and Cadillac. Keep up the great work and videos. My 1999 Cadillac Deville is the same I was looking for a easier way to remove the hub from knuckle/spindle.
I'm doing this and the new hub came with instructions to torque axle nut to 155ft lbs. Gm says 118ft lbs. Which one should I pick? Thanks Charles! Also, at 5:46 and at 6:45 as you turn the steering wheel to get at the 3 back hub bolts, I hear a clicking sound, why?
Thanks so much for this how-to. I'm curious to know which replacement hub assembly brand you used. Quality seems to be an issue with them, so any recommendation is welcome. Also, where did you put the jack stands while doing the work? Thanks, again.
I have a 1998. I have a snapped wheel stud. Unfortunately, the shop manual procedure for the wheel stud does not appear to work while the hub assembly is on the car. I really didn't want to have to replace the bearing, but I guess I will do the entire thing instead. The car has 99,000 and the bearings don't appear to be bad. The replacement studs are slightly shorter than the stock studs, but they are just too long to get through the back of the hub assembly. I hope the procedure for 1998 is similar to 2001.
Thank for the information! Question, I noticed that the swaybar has a good amount of space inside the bushing. Mine is like that too and wondering if they're too worn and need to be replaced???? Mine have more of a space then yours too.I know the load of the cars weight isn't on but was also wondering if those bushings if worn, could produce a vibration in the front end at higher speeds? Or for that matter, can worn hubs produce a vibration like that too???? Thanks much! Great work!
This was very, very, very helpful!!! Next, I'm changing the tie rods.
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for posting this. I have to replace the bearings on my daughter's car and this helped me understand what I need in order to do the work.
Glad it helped

On the 3 hub bolts?
@@johnwagner4559 yes.

Thanks for this and your other great videos. I'm pretty confident I understand the steps after watching your videos!
These videos coming in very handy Charles!!!
glad it helped
if you leave 1 bolt loosened in the hub you can strike the back with a hammer and it will help you a great deal with seperation.
Great video!! It will help me tremendously this week when I do mine. Question…why anti seize instead of grease? Just curious. Thanks.
On the splines... either will work...
@@CharlesAndCars thank you for the quick response. I’m doing this job in a few days.

Go with what GM Says... The clicking sound is just the strut (unloaded).
Great video - thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
Good demonstration
what size was the socket for the axle nut?
34mm

I don't remember. Oem is best, but price wise tough to justify many times. It would either be a timken or a moog.

I was able to replace the stud. Luckily I had no issues getting the assembly off of the knuckle. It came right out. Good video.
Excellent job! Great! Thank you!

What I've experienced with broken / really worn sway bar links is either a floating or "squirrely" feeling while driving, not vibration..
@@CharlesAndCars ok. Thanks!
Hi what is the size of the airgun you used. Please thank you
1/2" gun
Someone said you should torque axle nut while axle is unloaded.... No? Thanks!
Shouldn't matter. You're pulling the axle into the hub. I always do them before the tire goes back on.
@@CharlesAndCars GOTCHA. Thanks Charles!
Please use blocks/jack stands.
There's a stand in there somewhere.. just can't see it. I always use jack stands. Had a friend nearly killed by not using one, he was fortunate.
@@CharlesAndCars My fathers best friend, a Mechanic was killed when a jack failed.
I was young and never forgot that call.
@@CharlesAndCars thanks for responding
No jack stands?
There in there hiding somewhere...
