    This project has caught my eye @ 1st glance. I was needing a fresh idea for a couple of Christmas gifts, for both daughters. They know that I always make something “homemade” for them. The both receive something for the family as a gift that all can enjoy, but this will help to provide a more personal touch that also is functional, long past the holidays. Who knows, I may just sew one up for myself, just because. Thank you for an idea to use/make up for many occasions…😊💕

    Thank you for this updated video. Made so many of these from your previous video, great gifts if you match fabric to user :) I prefer to stitch both sides of binding as my hand sewing is none too delicate but everyone loved getting them.

    Thanks for this wonderful video! I enjoyed watching this. I have a book with all the patterns and all about kitchen and home decor items but I got discouraged tbh as I couldn’t understand the instruction provided in the book. And your video was much clearer and I loved the machine quilting version. So cute with bees and sunflower 🌻! Very inspirational! I just subscribed! 💜🌻🌼🌻🌼

    Just wondering if you could make oven gloves with fingers. Could you make some on a live Wednesday at 4pm. Also can you put bias binding on around the fingers.

    Hi Debbie on which side do you put the aluminium bathing inside or outside.

    • @milehighslacker4196
      @milehighslacker4196 3 года назад +3

      Yes, I have this question, too. I couldn't tell, but I wonder if Debbie paid attention to which direction the reflective side of the batting faced. My guess is, we want to place the foil side (reflective side) away from the pockets, so that the reflective face is toward the hot pot and not toward the hands. She didn't specify, but based on watching carefully, it looks to me like she ended up with the foil side of the batting toward the table, and the pockets opposite. And for completeness, the foil side of the pockets would probably want to face up to the sky (ceiling). So the layers would be: table, material, foil, batting, material, pocket space, material, batting, foil, material, ceiling.

    I'm loving this project! Been planning on making a new oven glove but will make one instead! I also enjoy hand sewing the back of bias binding. I did it with a crazy patchwork quilt and I'd keep it in my lap while watching tv or something and my cat would jump up on top of it. So we'd do it together, though she was mostly snoozing through it.
    I do have a question: When you quilt the fabrics, do you backstitch at all?

    I was wondering if you could come up with another design of this with a thumb as I find that I need it to have a little more control. I have some pot holders you put your hand in a it is awkward for getting say a flat pizza pan out of my oven. Where as an added thumb would allow for a better grip. If you understand what I mean?

    Cut i use a overlocker to sew the "pockets " on for less bulk I think🤔😁

    why put oven glove /instabright lining on the top of the pocket, cos that bit doesnt actually come in contact with a hot plate/pan

  • @suzisaintjames

    How do you know how many layers of heat reflective wadding? Cut out the basics and try the sandwich of fabric on a hot pot next time you cook. If I can feel heat from the pot, I know I'll feel heat on a hotter sheet pan from the oven, so I'd add more wadding. 💖🌞🌵😷
