Carlos Santana "The Latin Guitar God" his sound spanning since the 60's. Brought the Latin sound back into Rock and Roll. As you have seen he plays the guitar so effortlessly. Carlos is one of my favorite guitar players of all time. So happy to see you bring in some of Latin / California style to your channel. Till the next time. ✌ N ❤

Marie, I loved your reaction video. And yes, you said it correctly, it's "clearer". Carlos is an ICON that has been around since the 60s. His spanish input into his guitar playing is so unique that is very easily recognizable! He is a LEGEND in the world of rock music even though he crosses many genres and has done so many collaborations with singers from different musical backgrounds. Glad you have found and enjoy Carlos Santan!

Hi, sweet Marie. Glad you had a go at this song and you liking it. Santana is one of a very few band leaders that likes to stay behind and give the chance for others to shine. Although he writes music and lyrics, he prefers not to sing. In the 70's during a concert, some lifestyle guru was so impressed with his skills that he gave Carlos the name of "Devadip", meaning "The enlighted one". Carlos in an enterview said that if he doesn't "feel" the emotion of a guitar solo, then the public will feel the same way. One word of advice: pause the video 2 or 3 times, give some reaction, slightly rewind (a few seconds will be enough), and continue. This way, the video will not be blocked. Continue exploring the wonderful world of Santana, and you will be amazed. Kind regards and stay safe.

Quick story from something I've read even though I'm a young guy I do research on Music. So I wasn't really around or I was a little baby when this came out. I'm 22 and I think this came out in 2000 or 1999. What I wanted to mention is well was doing his research for myself I realized that Rob Thomas at that time was on a streak of writing hits for other people. For 3 or 4 years he he won't got the song writer of the year a wood because everything that do whose writing for other people was becoming a hit Practically. The cool thing is the story about this out of The mouth of Carlos I saw in an interview. He knew Rob Thomas was riding the best music at that time for other people so he came to Rob Thomas Asking could he write lyrics for this but he never won and Rob Thomas to sing. She wanted someone like George Michael. He said I was looking towards someone like George Michael type voice. Apparently, Rob Thomas after writing the lyrics asked Carlos well can you at least listen to me Singing To this song track? Long story short you see what you got. But that was a cool story To me because this song I cannot see another person singing. But again on this Lee he did not want Rob Thomas to see because honestly he didn't dislike the voice but he just didn't fake it was the voice he wanted on this song. I just think that's really cool and you a check the interview well is kind of cool because right Carlos and Tana is so freakin quiet that it becomes mysterious almost. So if I catch a video where hes actually in an interview answering questions that is dope to me. Make Christmas happy Hanukkah or just happy holidays to you

True that.. This is the 1st time I've found her channel kind of by accident . I left a very long comment for her which are normally never leave comments that long. I notice she really wanted to understand what Rob Thomas was saying because she mentioned it over and over as she can't understand. I just gave her a little background on him and that he is a Southerner and has a little draw when he sings and stretches words . But you I'm with you she is trying to learn and I can only imagine how hard it would be because I speak 2 languages but there is some Spanish rock vet I just do not understand. So even if I know the language A lot of times I just don't understand certain Spanish Dialects in songs and especially if his hip hop. Have a good holiday and peace

Carlos Santana played at the Woodstock festival in 1969 (51 years ago!) and was apparently one of the best acts despite being on the drug mescaline. He was hallucinating the whole time, but played brilliantly. He knew the songs so well he didn't even need to think about it, his fingers just knew what to play. They call it 'muscle memory'. 🎸

It's called a guitar strap. This one is a custom made of [I assume] embroidered beads or fabric with seashell lined on leather.
Carlos rarely sings except for some chorus or background vocals. He has gone through several lead singers over the years and has collaborated with many guest vocals like Rob Thomas on this particular song. Carlos' guitar does all of his singing for him ;)

What's amazing is that some of the guest artists had their biggest hits ever with Carlos on guitar. I bought the DVD after hearing Rob Thomas and Carlos release this song. The entire concert is very good. If you cannot understand... search for Rob Thomas - Smooth - lyrics.

Great reaction! Carlos usually has another bandmate or a guest singer to lead the vocals on his songs: Matchbox Twenty's Rob Thomas for 1999's "Smooth," and Santana bandmate Greg Rolie for 1970's "Black Magic Woman" and bandmate Alex Ligertwood on 1981's "Winning," and solo artist Michelle Branch for 2002's "The Game of Love."

The vocalist name Rob Thomas. He wrote the lyrics also. He was in a famous band named matchbox 20. He was the most successful writer for 3 or 4 years straight. He wrote a lot of songs and tracks for other artist that became hits. You can find the lyrics On RUclips. One reason you may not understand him too well is because he is from South Carolina in the USA. In the poor of the USA they have a dialect that is very unique compared to the rest of The USA. It's called a Southern draw . That's probably one reason you're having a hard time understanding him. One thing is obviously English is not your 1st language even though you speak it well and great. But also even for Americans sometimes we got people who sing and their accent or dialect is so different we don't even understand and need lyrics A lot of time.... lol .... There's something in the USA they call blue eyed soul. Basically it started out with the righteous brothers way way back in the day. It's when a white person sings with so and almost is pure soul music. If you don't know what so music is is predominantly something that started with black Americans. You can type it in and you'll see a lot of so put out talk of names out and one would be James Brown from way way back. That would be the godfather of soul ......what they call him... So when I say soul I'm talking about so music and its Lake your singing from way down inside and from your emotions rather than just see in words and trying to sound good. So the reason I mention blue eyed soul is because basically this is white folk who scene music with soul and I say so a don't mean a religious thing of course I mean just deep inside emotions and given it the all they have. Rob Thomas is one of those people they considered blue eyed soul. And no this was long but I wanted to touch in on some things and kind of give you an idea of where Americans see things like this and vainly not even understand where he saying sometimes. He has an accent and he also plays with the way he pronounces words if you notice. He was stretch words out. And then of course the rest that you C is freakin immaculate production. You noticed a write-off with all those freakin horns and drums and then of course Carlos Santana on the guitar. This is a dope song in my opinion and obviously again you got a great living legend guitarist like Carlos Santana... That's a living legend you know. That right there is one of the best shows I've ever seen with all the instruments and all the drums and colors ... It all came together and this is the 1st time I've ever seen this. The thing I knew about these people Santana and Rob Thomas are things that I had to go watch documentaries or read about on Google because I'm still him up early twenties. I wasn't around necessarily or maybe I was a little baby when this came out. Anyway sorry it was so long 1st time a balanced on your channel and going to subscribe I'm gonna give it a Lake and the only reason this was so long everyone is because I know that she wanted to know the lyrics said she mention it more than once. She said she couldn't understand him and things like that so I will just telling you and everyone there's a lot of people that don't understand Rob Thomas sometimes the way he has is pronunciation. So don't feel Like you alone. You can find the lyrics With music on RUclips if you just would like to know where he was saying. Last thing is this album had 9 grammy wins from what I read a believe that's right. It's the most of all time in one night of the grammys awards or it might be a tie with Michael Jackson having the most M1 night at the Grammy Awards. Think about that 9 freaking grammy award wins in one night. This album supernatural should be on your playlist cause they got some dope songs. Yo again sorry so long and normaly just leave a couple sentences on RUclips sites but I'm really so you wanted to understand what he was saying so I thought I would toss out a little bit of why you didn't understand and how you can get the lyrics. Merry Christmas everyone

I found the lyrics in French.. Smooth (French translation)
    Artist: Santana
    Suave

    [Refrain I]

    [Chorus I]

    [Refrain II]
    (x2)

    Ou bien oublie tout ça...
    [Répéter]

Carlos Santana is a guitarist. May I offer these suggestions: Jonny Lang "Lie to Me", Gary Moore "Still have the Blues", Gary Clarke, Jr. "CatFish Blues", Traveling Wilbury's "Handle with Care and End of the Line". Just to name a few impressive works of art. Enjoy!

    Santana - Smooth
    Artist: Santana
    Featuring artist: Rob Thomas
    Smooth
    Man, it's a hot one
Like seven inches from the midday sun
I hear you whisper and the words melt everyone
    But you stay so cool
My muñequita, my Spanish Harlem Mona Lisa,
    You're my reason for reason
    The step in my groove

    [Chorus I]:
And if you said: "This life ain't good enough"
I would give my world to lift you up
I could change my life to better suit your mood
    'Cause you're so smooth

    [Chorus II]
And it's just like the ocean under the moon
Well that's the same as the emotion that I get from you
You got the kind of lovin' that can be so smooth
    Give me your heart
    Make it real
    Or else forget about it

Well I'll tell you one thing
If you would leave it'd be a crying shame
In every breath and every word
I hear your name calling me out

    Out from the barrio,
You hear my rhythm on your radio
You feel the turning of the world so soft and slow
    Turning you 'round and 'round

    [Chorus I]

    [Chorus II]
    2x

Or let's forget about it ..
    [repeat]

Even though Rob Thomas wrote the lyrics and sings this was a hit through an exact combo of Rob Thomas and Carlos Santana. Obviously Santana was the one who wrote the original music if you Will. He came to Rob Thomas and asked him to write the lyrics but had no intention of ever getting him to sing because he said he wanted someone to sing this track Who was George Michael like . Thomas was not supposed to sing this. At that time he was burning the charts with songs he was Writing for other people that became hits. From everything that I've watched in documentaries my man Rob Thomas was the top song writer for about 3 or 4 Years so he was definitely in the zone which is exactly why Carlos asked him to write the lyrics more than likely. The way the story goes according to Carlos ..... This was an interview I saw....... So Thomas writes the lyrics in then he wants to Be the vocalist on this track. In other words come on Carlos just let me try and see what you think... I guess he thought it would be OK lol. I can't think of a someone else singing This track. I can't imagine someone else like George Michael B in the vocalist here only because Rob Thomas put his special little spin on the words if you notice. That's what she can't understand them as she says many times. Hes from South Carolina when he sings you can hear him stretching out words and to anyone that English is not the 1st language will probably have a little difficulty with this blue eyed soul of Rob Thomas. And then we got my man Carlos Santana on guitar. I only wish that Carlos would have had more than one riff and a little longer. Other than that this the 1st time I've ever seen this and man it was dope with the drums in the horns colors different colored . People and the list goes on... Sorry I'm just 22 years old and although I've heard this before I've never seen this video and something about this song pumps me up so guess I gotta lower hyper with the long Comment. Happy holidays everybody of every face for this is Christmas when I'm leaving this comment
