Tejas is not our first fighter plane. We made the Marut and knet Fighter planes which fought the Saberjets during the 1971 war and our planes were wonderful. Have trust in the abilities of Hall and we shall do wonders .

As a Swede a must say I’m very impressed by the Tejas Mk1. It’s very well thought out plane with price performance very well suited for a good air defense. (Making it cost effective is extremely important when you need high numbers, India being such a large country is going to need a lot of them) I think this is something to be really proud of. Being able to take this from drawing to reality, is a real achievement. This bodes well for the Indian aero defense industry. I also hope that you stop buying Russian arms, both because of how they attacked Ukraine and also because their stuff literally sucks.

Thanks buddy. It is much appreciated.
IAF is planning to induct over 210 Tejas in total as per recent recent reports.
Which would be a really positive sign for Indian Airforce. But it will take awhile for India stop buying Russian. India is even depended on bullets and even rifles from Russia.
Although many things are made in India, it is Russian technology.
India is even dependent on Russian veto in the UNSC.
If the west continues to support India for sometime. It will be possible for India to seperate from dependence on Russia.

Reference to F16 flying better than LCA because of control laws? Actually it is the opposite. The control laws for the LCA were tested on an F16 by Martin Marietta (I think), and the American Air Force pilots who flew the F16 under both control laws said the LCA control laws were much better than the F16's. This is well documented in many sources - including ‎Kota Harinarayana in the Hamaras Tejas RUclips presentations.

Gripen has crashed too many times, even as a prototype. Its basic control laws (CLAWS) appear to be defective/deficient. Or maybe its manufacturing is poor. A country can't be defended with such planes. Maybe the fact that it is the cheapest fighter around in its class has helped it sell, but that will end soon once the Indian and Korean fighters are in the market in numbers.
Tejas has a modern design, with extensive use of composites, enabling it to have a smaller radar signature, long life, high quality. It is by far the best plane in its class, and even without its 1:3 price advantage, is more than a match for any comparable fighter, up to and including the venerable but ancient F-16 block 52. HAL (manufacturer of Tejas) has just ramped up its capacity to manufacture Tejas to 32 units/year, but in a few years, may need to up it again to 64 units per year, once Tejas Mk2 is ready.

In case of a war or especially WW3 every country will need its own weapon, because they can't buy from others either due to sanctions or due to weapons transportation risk. So India anyway need its own fighter jet to avoid getting spare parts problems. Tejas good/ or Bad its a useless discussion. We are developing better and better and we need our own stuff. Need to avoid procurement from West and Russia. Even slightly bad fighter jet with a much larger quantity will win the game. @pisquared1827 3 года назад +7

      @@martinw3577
I wasn't criticizing the Gripen - I think it is a great aircraft - I was just pointing out that all aircraft have crashed in development - with the exception of Tejas. Sweden's record on aircraft development (and defense development in general) is exemplary, and that is mainly down to the fact that their policy is to buy their own defense equipment which removes corruption and political influence from the procurement equation. Also Sweden hasn't faced the technology sanctions placed on it that India has. The biggest problem for Indian defense development is corruption in government and in the procurement boards. Corruption is present in every defense tender in India's history, although those indulging in corruption don't always win. The problem for indigenous Indian development is that while foreign vendors pay kickbacks to try to win tenders, DRDO, HAL, NAL, etc. being government owned are not allocated a slush fund to pay competing kickbacks to corrupt procurement board members. As a result the Indian defense procurement board, the IAF, and Indian politicians will always push to buy foreign even if the indigenous option is better in every way to the foreign one. This was probably why the Tejas has never crashed or had any major incident in development. Dr. Kota Harinarayana the chief designer for the Tejas programme said this explicitly in an interview in which he said that they were very careful and very meticulous in their development and testing because the corrupt buy foreign lobby in the procurement would have used any crash or accident in development to cancel the whole programme if it occurred and they were very mindful of that all the time. This caused development to take longer than it would otherwise have. The Tejas Mk 1A, is an excellent aircraft as will be the Tejas Mk2, and that is a problem for corrupt procurement board members because their corruption gravy train will run out if India mainly adopts indigenous aircraft, guns, missiles etc. as does Sweden. I believe that is what is behind the recent attempt by some on the procurement board to cancel Tejas Mk2 just when development is complete and a prototype is due to be rolled out for testing.
Tejas was inducted in small numbers initially, until the IAF decided what avionics they wanted. Believe it or not, it took the IAF procurement team 20 years after it flew to decide what avionics to specify. That is where the delays in the Tejas come from - incompetence and corruption in the IAF/Defence procurement board. The Tejas actually first flew (in its current form) in 2001 - no problems then, no problems since. It took 20 years for the IAF to get their act together even in the light of increasing accident losses in the IAF due to old airframes still in service well past their service life.

Also, 48% of Tejas per value is imported. Ie. Sensors, Engine, Computer chips, radar ( even indigenous one has high isreali raw material). Thus increasing dependency and cost.
