I've been on You Tube since it started and this is one of the best done, well thought out and helpful videos I've seen. I just bought a recliner with this type of pull and I suspect it is the recliners Achilles heel. Now I see how it is replaceable. Thank you for your hard work in putting this much needed video together.
Sir, you saved me the stress because my daughters loooove using this & i come to find the lever on my kitchen island 😡. Thank you soo sooo much with this video
Very easy to understand video. We have an Ashley glider love seat with both seats reclining. The space between the arm and the seat is too narrow and the black plastic clip will not fit through the space. That is all that is stopping us from finishing. Suggestions?
Thank you. If it's physically too small of a gap to fit it in unfortunately will probably have to loosen the hardware holding the armrest on to open that Gap up some more they are often shipped without the arms as well as assembled so that may be your only option
We have the same, we did it today, there is a screw deep in the middle of the back, that is holding the arm, take it out and you will have all the space in the world, but it was hard, it took two hours from us to figure it out 😂 Open the cover of the arm rest, I mean the stapled cover so you can see the screws underneath and you will understand the location of the screw I'm talking about.
Thank you for the video and guidance. I was able to repair my Ashley sectional recliner with cable handle between the cushions. The liner "fabric" tabs that held the old cable in place were SEWN to the liner, so I could not see any way to release them and then thread the new cable through (bc of the handle end and the tab bracket near the release end. I ended up leaving the old broken cable in the tabs and wrapping the new one around it to hold it in position. So far it seems to be working.
I have the sane style D-Pull but was wondering why it’s so hard to pull to open up the leg rest? I have lub the open mechanism on all moving parts with 3n1 oil. No squeaks etc, but still hard to pull the ring? Any help
If you're talking about having room to fit the cable, there should be some screws or bolts holding the arm on that you could loosen. Often hard to get to them though. You could tape the cable to a long thin object to shove through the gap and act as a pull stick.
I bought a "Ashley Recliner Release Cable Replacement - D-Ring Parachute Pull Handle (H004)" from "AMZ" and it was perfect except that it is no better than the original.

Thank you for this! All the other videos were replacing different recliner handle types, but this is the type I needed. Thank you!
Thank you for the video. Good explanation and very much useful. I did the same for my sofa today and working fine. Thank you again ….cheers

@@ShamsQaend i cannot find where the heck you are talking about. I’ll keep looking. So frustrated.
Amazon has the handle/cable but it shows 37 different sizes. How did you know what size to order without taking it off and measuring it first?
The footrest doesn’t close easily on mine. Need to slam it with your legs to close it. Opens fine ??? Suggestions ?
Very Good video very easy to follow!! 👍🏾

Where on Amazon you got the part from? My son broke the lever on my sectional
How do you replace the cable when the handle is intact but the clip at the far end has broken?
Ah, cheers to you! A fantastic video that saved me hours in time! Happy New Year 2022! Thank you - well done!
Thanks for the comment, I'm glad it helped! Happy new year!
I need help with repairing my two seater recliner. The back is dislocated from the other seat and just hangs back. How can I repair this?
Thanks for saving a lot of money. Thanks again
Thanks for your time and effort making this video!
Could you change a recliner with an original handle on the side to this type of mechanism ?
Sure, if its an existing cable style. You could mount the new pull ring style wherever was convenient
Thank you I just got a couch with recliners that needs repair, this will be a snap.
Hi, quick question
Could this type of manual recliners be converted to an electrical one by only installing a motorized mechanism?
Thank you
Typically they can be, even with a universal kit.
Thank you! Exactly what I was looking to do! :)
Glad I could help!
Mine is too tight to thread between the sofa arm and seat. How do I loosen it a little.

Perfect!! This is what I was needing!! Thank you!!
Are those replacement cables pretty universal?? Like i wont order it and find out my original cable is 10 feet long?
It shouldn’t be 10 ft long lol
