Why do we brush the nails in one direction versus the other? Just curious… in school they told me to brush towards the free edge, but I ❤️ these results… I just want to understand why I am doing what I am doing 🥰
It’s because you don’t want to brush dust up into the cuticle pocket and also you’ve just spent so much time pushing back and opening up that cuticle, you don’t want to encourage it to relax again until you’re done with the service
Erica, I’ve purchased almost all of your bits,as a matter of fact I think I got the last ones in the Labor Day Sale at Gemini 😂, I was curious though when you said to push brush “toward” your client .. I’ve been taught by several to only pull the debris out and away so that it isn’t pushed back into cuticles … Can you explain further? Thanks love the info and tutorials
Thank you so much for all your support! we believe in gently using our brush to clean out any debris, this will allow for our cuticle pocket to be maintained open to continue with our prep. pushing downward in a way is laying and closing that pocket you'd like to create.
So if you were going to do gel polish, acrylic, or polygel, or any enhancement you would do the oil and polished FIRST? Then clean and dehydrate nail plate? I’m confused. I feel like the oil would make the product lift even after cleaning. Also, if you clean it’s kinda hard just to hit the nail plate only, so oil would be gone? Or we would oil again after service and just rub in? I’m old school and love your videos to learn new techniques for myself, friends and family. I am licensed and continue my education, but this is all new to me. Thank you!
I have to admit that this is the first time I see that oil is applied to the skin before applying the material. the point of proper nail preparation is to degrease the nail plate, is there any oil left in the cuticle after this step? This looks nice, but it's the first time I've seen it, so I'm just wondering if the material doesn't fade away later?
We don't have any videos that involve lotion and lacquer, unfortunately. You may be able to catch free edge filing in one of our other dry mani videos 🙌
Should you pull the skin down while doing the sidewall to get in there or is this dangerous for the perionychium? I’ve heard you can get in there with the bit but I’ve also heard that you cannot touch the side wall with the bits AT ALL. It feels natural for me to take the keratin buildup out of there but I don’t want to hurt my clients if that’s not the proper way.
We do gently exfoliate the sidewall with Erica's diamond bits and always recommend pulling the skin back from the nail. Watch our other dry manicure videos for recommended bits and techniques on exfoliating the sidewall!
We recommend cutting them down and softening the skin with the Polisher bit and oil. That way the skin is smoothed down and you don't have a lifted piece if skin tempting you to pull ;)
There's no such thing as a stupid question 😊 Flossing is basically running the bit along the groove of the nail. It's a bad idea to do it with the micro taper because you risk over filing the nail. That's why we recommend the detail bit for flossing 🙌
I see you’re touching the bits to the nail plate a lot, how do I know I’m not filing the nail plate and just the cuticle that’s stuck on there? Sorry I’m a beginning
Some bits are used for both cuticle and nail plate; however, bits like the flame bit are used specifically for the cuticle. To determine if you're filing the cuticle or nail plate, you can see where the debris is coming from/if you're exfoliating the cuticle. I hope this helps!
I watched this tutorial several times to see what I thought I saw. Are your clients know to you? I saw you blow the debri off the nail and you use the brush after. That's considered cross contamination.
Thank you for your input, cleanliness and disinfection are definitely important to us. We create tutorials however we are not a salon and do not take clients- the model in this video is actually my sister!
@@EricasNails even still girl, while providing a professional service and making an educational video blowing dust off your client is not good practise
This channel has been instrumental in aiding me through mail school and becoming a nail tech.
WOW! Thank you for sharing that- I am so happy that these videos have been such an asset for you!
Love the detail bit. After years of Brazilian manicure, I have very deep sides. It's a relief to see all the dead skin gone.
EXCELLENTE ... Tutorial 😊I'm old school tech and this has been really helpful working with Nail Drills n Bits .... Gracias

I believe it’s because you don’t want dead skin to get under cuticle!
Yeah that's confusing. Aren't you just brushing dust/debris right back up into the pocket?
I have learned that during cuticle prep, you don't want to pull the cuticle back over the nail when you spend so much time pushing it back

I do everything except the oil and polisher bit, do my application, and finish with oil and polisher
What nail drill brand/ model you recommend me for mans salon use and for foot callus fast removal?🙏❤️❤️🙏
I think at 5:25, you meant to display reverse, but you displayed forward.

Do you have a complete manicure using bits, but incorporating free edge file, lotion, lacquer? Or close? Thanks!

Do you have a video explaining drill bits or do you explain them per video
We explain them as we use them in the videos 🙌
@@EricasNails perfect, thank you. I also noticed each kit on your website, has a specific video as well 😍
Good video..where do we purchase the diamond bits, files and products you showed in your video?
Thank you so much! 🫶 The products may be purchased on our website at ericasata.com 🙌
What brand of gloves do you use?
Hi Erica. I have some of ur diamond bits which I bought from uk but how do I get rest of them? Do u ship to uk??. Kindly reply
Could I use a fine grit ball instead of extra fine to polish after the service?
Great question but no, they do different things!
Please Erica what kind of gloves are these?!
Those are medical exam gloves for working with chemo. So great protection against many chemicals. Hope that helps
When can we get another Erica drill ?
We have an e-file available on our website at ericasata.com 🙌
Erica did you just blow on your clients nail 😮 I thought we couldn’t do that?
I don't recommend it in your business. Here I'm working on my sister 🙃

Hello
I saw a lot of smoke coming out lol I got scared for a second and realized this video is old and no one would probably care now 😅
Hi! Could you be referring to the skin being exfoliated?

@badarby omg dont be a karen, its an educational video, be kind
I’m sure she doesn’t do that in the real world, and all her other videos she doesn’t do that, I’m sure it was for the viewers to see the final result.
To much time
goes faster when we just work instead of explaining😉
