I used to crab off my grandparents dock on the Chesapeake when I was a kid....There is a certain smell to a fresh caught bushel of crabs that never leaves you..Just looking at those crabs bought back that memory.
I just realized that you are in Maryland. Well that's awesome. Maryland seems pretty nice. Wish I knew you in person. I would love to come out there and film and catch crabs. You're wife is a lucky lady!!!
Looks like good crabbin to me. My buddy n I use to trot line crabs in the Y river in Maryland . We used almost the same set up , we tied chicken on some too. Seemed like they loved it.
I had like and subscribe I am a severn native and Love crabbing I only access the piers but not much luck last year so thanks for the motivation guys now where can I get that boat to get out there
How far apart are the bates? I grew up in Jersey and crabbed off docks. Now in Missouri but going east next month to hook up with grandkids. Wanna teach them something.
The crabbing seems a little slow this year. I went out in the Severn, the Magothy and the Chester with out much luck. How far up in the rivers should I be going. This is the first year I’ve crabbed in the middle Bay Area . What am I doing wrong?
Hey Robert - I went out on the Severn twice and busheled out in a couple hours using razor clams in bags on snoods and 10 collapsible traps in 6'-9' water. What were you using?
I was told 7 doz to a bushel. Back before you needed a license and could have 3 bushel per person. I've crabbed from b-more, to the tidewaters just for fun., and nothing beats our blue crabs, when you catch them yourself.
I can keep and sell sooks as I have a unlimited TFL w/rockfish allocation. I generally do not catch many as I have holmed my strategy towards quality as apposed to volume.
Jake my son and I watch The Crab Show religiously. He’s going to be so exited for a new episode.

Near Cliffs City in the 80s we had bushels with 42 crabs with a topper.
