'Night 50' a "bad movie?" I strongly disagree, Dan! I loved 'Night 50!" The plotline was excellent, the editing phenomenal, and the two female leads were très chaud, mon ami! Although some fans of your filmography might call it blasphemy, I think 'Night 50' was and remains a far better feature film than 'Go-Go Motel.' The first time I watched 'night 50,' I was so bowled over that I had to watch it a second time, right then and there. So please, Dan, don't call it a bad movie -- 'Two Girls, One Cup' is a bad movie! 'Night 50," or as my wife and I call it, "Night Fiddy," was a truly remarkable film, one that every Dan Bell fan needs to see. If you call it a "bad movie" again, I'll hop on a plane to Baltimore and spank your ass raw...how's THAT for threatening you with a good time? 😉 Okay, rant is over! Love you, Dan!
You gave me a good belly laugh when you said, "This alley is where I lost my virginity, right there behind that first dumpster". Your our "Been there. Done that." guy concerning all things Baltimore Maryland. Loved this history lesson about your town!
Baltimore is such a city of opposites. Glad to see some things are being restored. I love that 3 story house. Jeffree Starr would be jelly of those sunglasses although they aren't expensive enough for him. 😊Thanks Dan 💫
Thanks for filming inside of Eddie's and capturing the old deli sign!! I worked in the deli for just about 5 years up until they closed. It's nice to see it for nostalgia purposes. 😊🥪 Also spent many nights at the hippo. Thanks for doing what you do, Dan.
I remember some of these places off one of your live shows: the basement with a pool, that place that is now The Engineers Club or whatever etc. Cool seeing them up close during the day. I always love hearing your stories & seeing your old haunts. I'm in my 40's too, so it sort of gives me nostalgia about my own city/experiences from back in the day. Thanks Dan!
Love the walkabouts with the stories of your youth. Reminds me of mine. 80s, rented a room in what can only be called a flop house. Literally a room, community kitchen. I can still smell it and I'm in my mid 50s. Something only a young person would put up with lol. No way in fkng hell could I do that today. The things we did and put up with, just to be on our own and find our way in life. We survived. No running back home to mommy. You did what you had to do lol. Glad they are saving so many of the old buildings. Thanks Dan. Love these vids.
Mommmmmaaaaa!!! It’s good to see her . Don’t knock getting furniture from the street. I had a friend who furnished her apartment with things that she found from the streets and alleys. Lol.
Fun fact... Where I live we used to have a gay strip bar called Cupids back in the early 2000s. They've since closed and now its a dialysis center. @_@
I loved the comics in the City Paper, Big Baby and Dog Boy, Black Cherry etc. Loved the listing of bars and the bands in the live music section. I think City Papers still exist in other cities, but miss the balto. one. Glad Dan is in good spirits.
I love these vlog style videos of the things you like! It’s weirdly cozy, so thank you 🙏 I’d love to learn more about Baltimore’s history and why it’s so abandoned and rich with drug use
Baltimore reminds me so much of where I was born, so much old unjust opulence alongside sad concrete squalor. I love these open-ended walkabout videos of yours Dan :D *EDIT:* I agree with you about that Divine mural. Imagine what kind of virginal n0nc£ would lob mud at such an awesome artwork.
When I'm having bad anxiety/depression I watch your channel. Thanks for giving me a fun, entertaining distraction - i've been a longtime fan and appreciate you so much.
I love hearing about old buildings, the history and how they are being repurposed today. Love the glasses too! I’m still 🤢 about that guy omg. I won’t spoil it here. The viewers need and must have the entire viewing experience. ❤️you Dan!
Dan, you stirred some memories for me with this! I visited a friend in Baltimore back in 91 and he and I visited that park area. I remember we ate on the roof of a restaurant and it was such a beautiful city. Simpler times, so stress free, sigh ….
used to live on 700 Park Ave... aside from the awful landlords (don't live there!!!) and building that felt like it was built on toothpicks (the elevator especially...) I miss living in Mt Vernon a lot. Beautiful walks everyday no matter what season. I miss shopping at Eddie's in the morning before it closed.
So cool to walkabout with a true local like this. It is also a reminder that everything changes, nothing is constant, for better or for worse. Can’t help but imagine how great America could be if there was nobody on drugs, and all of that unproductive time & money & tragedy was instead converted once again to progress and to building the sorts of structures & society that these old buildings you document here symbolize.
Except that time in America is a fallacy. America has never been some great utopia. It’s always exploited the working class, crime-infested ghettos, and people drowning their sorrows in the vices of the day.
21:10 i remember where that little park is, that used to be a movie theatre called the "New Theatre" was then turned into some sort of discount store. idk why they knocked it down. i think it had partially collapsed.
I’ve been rewatching old videos. Been watching since high school and now I’m almost 29. You’re the best! I was watching the livestream where you went to go buy some cool dining room chairs and realized you came 5 min from where I live!
love the old architecture and good to see they are maintaining and rehabbing it ...Vancouver used to have a lot of older building with next shops but now its all new glass concrete towers everywhere , with homeless everywhere...
I loved this daytime walking tour! Obviously I’m a big fan of your spooky nighttime antics but this was such an interesting way to see a city I’m not very familiar with, so much beautiful architecture!
Just found your channel. Originally im from MA but have been back and forth to MD a few times over the past 8 years(over a man.. yikes girl.). I’ve now been back for like 3 years, am about to move to fells point. Your narration is hilarious and I appreciate the stories and informations you give. 👍🏼 when that car honked and you said “excuse me” 😂
Some day I'll learn to stop trying to watch a Dan Bell video while eating. First bite, cut to an alley way full of flies and food waste. yummy yummy lol
Mount Vernon is the part of Baltimore that always made it feel like a big city. There is some spectacular architecture in that area. I truly hope that Baltimore isn’t just left to die alone. Build that city back to it’s former self.
Great video Dan! I haven’t ever been to Baltimore. It was a pleasure taking a walk with a local. I love seeing some of the historic buildings getting restored and renovated. I enjoy hearing the history and stories from the past.
In 2012 (i think?) I took the overnight megabus from Boston to Baltimore for a gay leather event lol. The Maryland Leather weekend! My friend was Mr Maryland Leather and was stepping aside at the contest that weekend... The contest was at the hippo and we spent a lot of time going around that area. So many fun memories of that weekend :) Thanks for this video!
Ill never forget the first time i saw one, like 2017. Im a bug enthusiast, i knew it had to be invasive because it was the first time i saw one in PA before lol theyre cute but gotta go 🙅♀️
Oh, I remember the old French Restaurant building from when the lot was empty around it. Glad they safe it! This is really uncommon nowadays. - The fake money is for Chinese (I believe) to burn for their deceased so that they have money in the afterlife or something like that. I may mix it up.
I love your channel! Your grasp of local history is impressive. I miss Maryland. I'm actually from Montgomery County, but I've spent time in Baltimore. You really know how to bring out the hidden beauty in that city! Looking forward to the next one!
Hi Dan! Well, this was cool as I haven’t lived in Baltimore since the 80s - I remember a lot of this stuff. We used to go to the China Doll on the way home from the Lexington Market and of course everybody went to the Hippo. I can’t believe it’s a CVS!! such a great area and what a cool find to find an old copy of the city paper. Jesus I sound like everybody’s Nana lol always enjoy your videos “LadyLake“
The 20 doller bills and the 2 dollar bills look real.😮😮😮 my local market had a few fake bills the other day and we live in a small town. Im talking like one red light for the whole place. The nearest next red light in eather direction is 30 mins away😮😮😮. But i love living here ❤❤❤. Love your videos, keep up the good work.
Omg I love the video Dan!!! I actually have stayed at the Monaco Hotel before, not my nicest of experiences but it was definitely a beautiful place. But holy crap that elevator at the end!! We need more videos like this 💯🤩❤️
Honestly, seeing that alleyway couch, or any, I'd probably be more likely to check the inside for loose change - as a lot of loose change can ger found in couches and chairs where the bottom isn't open especially. I'm weird, I know.
I worked in the Jefferson Building (Charles & Fayette) - before they changed it to Candlewood Suites, it was the last building in Baltimore to have manual elevators and elevator operators. The whole building had an odd smell. The executive suite on the top floor had a bookcase with a secret room behind it. You would've loved this place Dan!
Hey Dan! I’ve got a dying mall for you if you’re interested, MacAurthur Center in Norfolk VA. Has a cool aesthetic, unfortunately I bet 80% of the stores are closed. Norfolk is a cool little town, too.

I miss the old Baltimore days. It was fun as hell and pretty safe especially compared to today. I don’t go downtown anymore.

Great daytime tour of the city. Nice to see the more relaxed side of the city. Although I do love the anxiety and unpredictable nightlife.Great video
Big fan of the store. It's like Costco for drugdealers.
21:10 i remember where that little park is, that used to be a movie theatre called the "New Theatre" was then turned into some sort of discount store. idk why they knocked it down. i think it had partially collapsed.
Used to go there until all the downtown closed, then started going to Harbor Park until that closed.
I love the sunglasses and you interrogating the shop keeper hahaha! Glad they restored those abandoned buildings
You always make me laugh dan. Keep up the good work and being you!
this is a great video, love the stories, lol... enjoyed it a lot.. you sound happy, which makes me happy :)
