    Dan I can't tell you how fast I clicked on this video when I saw it on my feed. I was just watching old uploads of yours as usual yesterday. You're absolutely right. It's sick that the city will bulldoze those homes just to put a Starbucks and a parking garage there. When clearly these people deserve a home! Doesn't matter if you have money or not. People are deserving of a bed and a roof and food and water and a bathroom and love. Period.

    • @RandomMetalChick000
      @RandomMetalChick000 Год назад +14

      These particular projects aren't being torn down to build a starbucks. I looked it up, apparently it's part of a deal to revamp old damaged project buildings, make them more up to code. And be able to fit more residents. The former residents have rights to move back in as soon as everything is completed. They wanted to expand the availability of low income housing.

    • @Moosey528
      @Moosey528 Год назад

      PERIOODDDD it's fuckin sad.

    • @Crypticmudkip
      @Crypticmudkip Год назад +3

      @@RandomMetalChick000 hate to burst your bubble. I know where Dan is for the video is a different location, in Memphis same problem. They opened apartments for low income and it ended up taken over by rich people who wanted to live closer in city and ruined it for families that really needed it. 😑

    • @HanasRoom
      @HanasRoom Год назад +1

      @@RandomMetalChick000 So you mean "Luxury Apartments"... do you know who can afford that? Not people shitting in buckets. It costs so much more to demolish than to remodel for codes. This city clearly doesn't have that kind of money if it's take this long to get this far.

    • @RandomMetalChick000
      @RandomMetalChick000 Год назад +6

      @@HanasRoom Obviously those buckets are from homeless people squatting. The former residents were relocated and have been living out of a different project meanwhile the demolition and reconstruction. Also the latest updated article from the local news said construction had picked up recently and even confirmed the housing voucher rights were already being recieved by the former residents, from the residents themselves. The pandemic really brought things to a halt. Again, this is a deal the city and local community made specifically for the expansion of the projects. It's not hard to find this information. Also you need to check your condescending tone, I don't know you, and you don't need to come at me like you did. I'm moving on from this thread.

    This is absolutely crazy. All those apartments looked clean and not even damp. All damage was done after the legal occupants were evicted. There still almost no graffiti on the walls inside or out. The outside areas still showed how clean and nice they were. The properties don't look very old at all, how on earth have people been moved out of them and the places to be demolished 🤷🏻‍♀️ The homeless people living there should be helped, I just don't get why these places were emptied of their occupants when the area seemed to have been quite reasonable 🤷🏻‍♀️

    I was homeless in Florida for nearly 10 years with 7 of them being like in the bushes abandoned houses homeless with a few weeks at flop houses type homeless. And because of that and how absolutely impossible it is to try and lift yourself from that situation as it snowballs around you I honestly look at countries that "allow" slums to be built as in some ways more humane. The fact is we do NOT have nearly enough programs shelters projects etc to house the homeless but we have enough buildings and places to do so a thousand times over. Housing first mentalities are having a lot of success compared to the majority which require a person to be pretty well off to begin with before they can get in. The shelters are full of drugs crime and rape. You are often as a woman better off away from formal shelters as youre less likely to be victimized and can actually do something about it if you are. Fuck it let slums exisit in the usa. Oh and it would please everyone. The people who dont want to look at the homeless will see less of them if they have a place to be inside. The people who want to help them will be happy cause theyll be housed. And the homeless will be able to function and have less of the issue of cant work cause I have to guard every thing I own 24 7 from the city and other folks. Oh plus they can shower and keep clothing clean.
