If you're being chased, throw your strat in front of you and you'll lure the enemies thru it just in time for it to be deployed on em. If it's a turret toss it so it has a clean angle on whatever is chasing you though haha taken myself out with a gatling a few times for democracy
@@carsonfarmer1074My greatest tale of sacrifice involved running out the map until i was deemed a traitor before immediately running into a horde of bugs. Netted like 20 kills and probably saved the early game. 8/10 strat, would recommend
The Railgun is goated for how fast it lets you deal with the endless waves of Chargers on Hard and higher difficulties. Just use it to blast the carapace off, then unload with the LMG or any other weapon. It also works for Bile Titans - get under them and blast them in the stomach with the Railgun for really good damage. I think it only takes 5 or 6 shots on safe mode to kill. Another tip with the railgun: it has an alternate fire mode that lets you overcharge it for more damage, but if you hold it too long, it WILL kill you AND destroy the railgun in the process. Regular shots(on "safe" mode) can be held indefinitely, but MUST be fired at some point. There is no way to uncharge the railgun, you have to fire a shot if it's charged up. Even switching weapons doesn't work. You'll fire the shot, then switch weapons. Highly recommend using it in FPV. The Breaker Incendiary shotgun is straight up just the best weapon in the game as a primary. You have an insane amount of ammo with the drum mag, 6 reloads, and every hit puts burning DoTs on the enemy. The LMG I think has the most DPS in the game when you put it to 1150 RPM, but it only pens light armor. Great to have someone use it in combo with another Railgun user, that pair can mow through a Charger very quickly. Shoot the front legs of the Charger to break it's armor. Once you see that part damaged, keep shooting it. Recoilless Rifle is a good alternative if you don't have the railgun unlocked yet. I wish the Autocannon pen'd heavy armor, but it bounces off Chargers and Bile Titans. The Autocannon SENTRY though, does pen heavy armor - which makes no sense, really. 500KG Bomb can be dropped directly on top of a Bile Titan, and you can stand right under it as it explodes. This will one-shot a Bile Titan, and you'll live, taking no damage, but it does blow you to the ground. It's a good way to keep it locked into place and be shooting it with a Railgun or shotgun in the belly. Eagle Cluster Bomb is a strafing run that runs perpendicular to the direction you're facing when you throw it. Throw it slightly in front of what you're trying to hit, it has a wide hit radius, and a LONG side to side. Eagle Airstrike does the same thing(fires side to side depending on the direction you're throwing it from), and you can use this to take out multiple nests with a single throw. The Laser Guard Dog is insane. Easily one of the best things to have on anyone. Its damage ignores armor. Takes care of all the little adds that come near you. You can have the Railgun and a LGD simultaneously. This is why you would take Railgun over Recoilless. Mortar EMS sentry is very good at holding a position, it slows the advance of any bugs, and straight up disables all robots it hits for a period of time.
I feel you aren't giving the man portable autocannon it's due. It is by far the most flexible of call down weapons in the game. It can't pen heavy armor, yes, but save the Automoton tank, every enemy has an area it can pen in the front. For the chargers, the mouth and leg joints can be penned, with the Automoton dreadnought, the Visor is the weak spot, and it will die to 3 shots, automoton scoutwalkers will die so long as you shoot the actual chassis, not the legs. The Terminid Royal guards just need a face shot, Automoton brawlers the same, if they have a shield, any hit to the ballistic shield opens it up to a second round, and you can typically get back on target before it puts the shield back. Automoton tanks and turrest have the weak point on the back, and 3 shots will destroy them regardless of difficulty, and Biotitans have the weak spot under them. By far the man portable autocannon is the most flexible gun you can get currently, and I frankly prefer it over the rail gun for general use, because you don't force your team to play around the railgun.
Bro... im going to try some of these once i get home. Currently i run with the regular breaker, railgun/autocannon(depending on the mission), laser drone, Eagle Cluster, Orbital Precision.
Didn't notice that strikes and ordinance have an entry angle depending on where you are on the map. Was on a large hill with a vantage point from a small pile of rocks and tossed a 500kg bomb at a crusher sitting near the bottom of the hill. Bomb comes in at a harsh angle and slams into the end of the rock sticking out 3 feet in front of me, had a second to think "oops" before getting vaporized
The strafe run and 500kg both come in in the same direction as the beacon traveled, while all other eagle stratagems come in sideways from either the left or right (determined randomly), and all of them come it at about a 45 degree angle off the ground, so its good to keep terrain in mind when placing them.
With the strafing run you’re totally correct about the call in time. Most eagle strats come down in about 3-4 seconds. The big draw of the strafing run is that the call-in time is 2 seconds, allowing for an even faster response. The pattern is also less prone to friend fire, so that’s another reason to potentially bring a strafing run over cluster bombs
This might be a dumb thing to call out, but I didn't realize this and I figure there might be others who were confused about the same thing: I assumed from the descriptions that the 'number of uses' thing meant that was a 'per misson' limit. It's not. It's just the number of times you can use the ability before the eagle itself has to return to rearm. It just goes on cooldown for like 2 min and when it comes back all the uses are replinished.
@LightCrasher you get 1 use per eagle rearm, meaning you have an infinite amount of them. If you upgrade the eagle to max, you get 2 charges before rearm, but the rearm itself is reduced to just 2 mins. Same for every orbital strike, including the railcannon. The only thing that has a hard limit per mission is the orbital laser.
1. Eagle CB is S Tier and I use it on every dive. You will never not have a good time, just realize it moves perpendicular to where you're facing, so NEVER DROP THESE WHEN YOU'RE ON FLANK OR YOUR BUDDIES WILL DIE 2. Eagle strafe as it's so easy to pop off and you get quite afew of them before resupply. Depending on the mission, it's either this or 3. Orbital Airburst. An effective area of denial and really helps in retreat. Just be a good teammate when managing this level of democracy 4. Eagle napalm. Literally 'nam. Nuff said. S+ Tier shitpusher 5. Orbital EMS is the best support strat for combing off other teamates' strats. Drop this to keep them in place while your buddy sings them a SEAF artillery lullaby.
The rocket pods are my favorite due to how forgiving they can be. Them locking on to the biggest target makes it easier to hit targets while running or scrambling. The smaller radius makes it less of an issue for killing yourself and others. Plus it destroys buildings. Both charges take down larger target's and its consistent at hitting both since it locks onto targets.
Same my usual setup is airstrike, pods and recoiless. Last usualy is prescision orbital strike. Main reason is that this package can deal with any threat in game and its pretty hard to kill own team.
Yeah I thought the rocket pods would be useful, but it can't even take out a charger. I suppose it's good for medium sized ones like the hive brood, but those don't take too much to kill either with your primary. I might have to try it out again.
Another thing to note with the eagle airstrike is it can take out multiple nests, if you get a good placement with them in line with the strike's angle.
On the final upgrade, does it give you 1 extra use for each eagle stratagem you bring? Or just one extra total? So if I bring 4 Eagle stratagems, do they all get +1 each?
My favorite part is telling teammates to stay back during a drop wether it's orbital or eagle and theres always one dude who runs straight at it despite being advised to pull back multiple times
The 500kg bomb also has a much smaller area of effect than you'd think, hence needing to have the bio titan near the center of the blast to kill it. Don't expect it to clear a really large area of enemies.
The 500kg virtually has no impact damage, i had it land on a charger and not kill it, i think they need to add a big AOE and an ever bigger initial lethal explosion circle of the bomb exploding rather than a high vertical damage
@@matthewrosado1936I don’t think that makes much sense. It acts more like a traditional bunker buster or any other bomb that digs into the ground. The blast would be a cone upwards. You just want a big bomb the explodes on impact.
I was spending most of my points on weapons and sentries before I finally dipped my toe into the Eagle pool, and I should have started sooner. Airburst Strike is essentially an aerial shotgun. The Airburst + Cluster Bombs are tailor made for wiping entire swarms of bugs (as long as they're not heavily armored like Chargers).
Yours are the only Helldivers 2 videos I've consistently enjoyed. 1) Found out last night that impact grenades will 1-shot the fat green buggies. I can not overstate how clutch that is. 2) Smoke Eagles are invaluable if you have the unfortunate honor of assaulting Sauron's eye over open terrain (a literal nightmare). They can get you in and help pull you out if it goes pear-shaped. Fun fact tho: the ordnance will still kill your teammates if it falls directly on them.. accidentally squished a random with it last night. 😅
Thank you so much for the support! I really appreciate that! Yeah, and impact nades also REK walkers! We call the red thing the eye of sauron too!!!!!!!
Bombing run is one of the first things I recommend players pick up. It's a relatively controllable call in with the ability to tear up anything in an area, on a reasonable cooldown and effectively dirt cheap. Plus it's good verses any problem you might have. I've seen the bombs actually hit a dropship and bring it down, seen them blow away cannon towers and rip apart charger armor en-mass. The second recommendation I usually give is the supply pack, which I think speaks volumes about how good bombing run is.
My favourite eagle stratagem is definitely the cluster bombing run. I love having four charges before re-arm, and it's just so satisfying to see a wide area covered by explosions to clear hordes. The cluster bombs have helped me so much with dealing hordes during the extraction timer. I usually pair with airstrike as well so that I can attack bases and structures, although I might consider swapping out for the 110mm rockets.
Whenever you throw a turret it'll drop down facing the direction you were originally facing while throwing it down. So if you have enemies behind you and throw it infront of you, you have to wait until the turret turns towards the enemy, so if you throw it to your either side and run to the opposite side you threw the turret then you will create much further space between the bugs and turret and itll spin faster to target since itll be just 90degrees turn for turret instead of a 180 to face enemies. Really helpful from extreme difficulties.
The eagle attack pattern also seems to depend on where you are in relation to the call-in grenade thingie when you throw it. The strafe makes a line of impacts from you towards the call-in location. The airstrike makes a line perpendicular to you, same goes with the napalm strike. The others seem to be a typical AOE.
quick tip for the SEAF cannon instead of carrying the shells to the loader you can spam your pick up button to do animation cancels which will make you move faster
If you're lucky with the 110mm Rocket Pods? The Eagle's angle of attack can come in and hit the Bile Titan in the face, killing it outright in one Stratagem. There's probably more testing necessary to figure out the most effective way to reproduce this, but I recall doing this a handful of times so far.
That took some relearning for me, but it's too big a utility to not have, being able to dial up reinforcements while running or gear while on the move provides enormous utility.
@@DdoubleUfor computer the calls for stratagems are the same as our running keys w,a,s,d so we can’t move and call stratagems unless you re map them out
You don't need strikes for the secondary broadcast tower. I usually use one impact grenade. Autocannon works as well. Same for the spore mushroom. Autocannon clears em too.
Wow, I wasn’t around to have 7 uses, but the 5 uses on the cluster is still so good. 2X 500Kg, 3X bombing runs, and 5X cluster or 3X smoke. So so so good.
Interesting tid-bit to know about the Rocket Pods is that they will automatically target the largest enemy closest to the beacon, much like the Orbital Railcannon.
11mm Rocket Eagle's is my go to, number one pick for me, whether I'm playing offensive or more support. Once you learn to time it depending on ennemie's movement pattern (especially Charger), one or more biggies if they are clamped.
Smoke Eagle plus Infiltrator armor on Evacuation missions (especially Automaton) is practically the only way to do it. The spy sneaks into the base and smokes and starts rushing as many civilians as possible to the evac point while the rest of the team gets on a hill and makes as much noise as possible. Smokepots cause much, much less aggro than airstrikes. Most times the robots will send a scout team to investigate a large civvie horde at best. As long as you can take them out before they radio you can do almost the entire mission unhindered. Otherwise you get a bunch of meatheads dropping nukes from orbit on top of civvies if you let the normal team fight in the villages. If you wanna do Ops on high difficulties on a defending planet, someone has to be the Spy because they almost always have an Evac in them and your squad is almost guaranteed to be carrying some absolutely lethal call-ins. It's also practically the only way to cover ground if Sauron's Eye is on the map. It will annihilate your squad long before you can get into the base on Suicidal or higher. Base Turrets aren't much better to charge against.
I tend to run a full Eagle load out myself. The 500Kg bomb is a crowd pleaser but I tend to get much more work out of the 110 Rockets and Cluster bombs
500kg Bomb feels very underwhelming, but looks outstanding. I can't tell you how many times I would drop one near an Automatron factory and wasn't enough to blow the structure up. The splash damage needs to be tinkered with imo.
So far ive gotten 3 loadouts that work IF they are all 3 being used at the same time Loadout 1. Priority: Armor Orbital railcannon, Eagle Airstrike, Shield Backpack, rail gun. Impact grenades + armor with +2 grenade perks. Youre main goal is taking out High value targets within the ranks of a swarm or advance (tanks, hulks, chargers, bile titans) Use the eagle airstrike, railcannon strike, and railgun to deal with any armor unit causing issues. Any group of armor that does not include an HVT (tanks hulks, chargers, bile titan) use impact grenades. **sidenote** You can 2 shot automaton tanks with impacts if u hit the glowing coils, but only do this if youre railcannoms is on cooldown AND its isolated, or if you know you can isolate it* Loadout 2 (2 players will be using this, 1 has recoilless rifle, 1 has stalwart lmg) Priority: add clear/ control Eagle cluster bombs, (eagle napalm for 1 guy strafing run for the other, (stalwart + supply pack for 1 guy, recoiless rifle + mortar sentry for the other). Double down on either Smoke or incendiary grenades + armor that gives + 2 nades AND 30% recoil reduction. Both players will time their cluster bombs together, and follow the bombs with a napalm and strafing run. Player with the stalwart lmg + supply pack is in charge of unarmored targets, while the other with the recoilless rifle is in charge of stopping dropships or disabling armored targets. Both players are either running smoke grenades or incendiaries. Smokes allow you to break off contact to move to the next objective, and the incendiaries are good for holding chokepoints. Use the recoilless rifle as your armor disabler and the mortar as your swarm killing passive while the lmg guy picks up your slack (you'll be aiming for tank turrets, the arms or legs of hulks, and the sides of chargers or titans to remove their chitin plating while your mortar is doing its job). Priority: pace control Railcannon strike, grenade launcher, gatling sentry, airburst orbital. Armor with +2 stims (bonesnapper from "battle pass". Use the grenade launcher, gatling sentry, and airburst orbital to keep your team up while their stuff is on cooldown. The key for whoever is playing this is to reserve your stratagems. They are only to be used when you are either down players, or other people's abilities are on cooldowns for survivability of the squad. Use your grenade launcher to take down spawn points, or hold chokepoints. Railcannon strike targets your team cannot take out, airburst areas your team cannot keep controlled, and use ur gatling turret to cover flanks. All 4 of these loadouts and their priorites will work well together. Each role needs to be played to their priority.
cluster bomb. for some reason the direction the cluster comes from is different every time and its a coin flip if me and my teammates die because we never know if we're running in the right direction
Having seen actual 500lb bombs drop, this one was really underwhelming... I understand why they won't make it more realistic but for reference: danger close for that size ordnance is 300m (and that's the minimum safe distance)
Well if the helldiver has one hell of baseball throw and able to lob the beacon 300m ingame distance that part of real life accuracy could be replicated. But being able to lob the beacon halfway across the map would probably break the game
Former 11B and 153M here, 600m is danger close, and it isn’t from the blast radius, it is from all of the other issues that can cause munitions to be off target.
Eagle Smoke Strike can actually take out fabricators in a pinch. You need it to hit directly, so it’s more difficult to land than airstrike, but there’s very little risk to being nearby when it hits. It can be a good tool for when you run out of grenades or don’t want to waste your bigger stuff on small outposts
Smoke strats are paramount for stealth plays. Where you pop up, destroy the objective, and break away. As me and my team prefer these sorts of Guerrilla Tactics, smoke has quickly become a must have.
The Eagle's explosive strikes are also great at closing nests quickly solo. I've had great luck peeling off from the group to nab a quick little bit of extra completion while saving grenades. I've also had napalm close bug holes too so in my dedicated friend group I'm usually told to go close a few outposts while they deal with an obj.
Best Eagle Tip: don’t be stupid when using them. When one of your teammates is responsible for burning 10 of your reinforcement points off because he keeps airstriking the damn team it gets annoying.
You can also snipe the Nest that makes the cloud and the terminate broadcast with the Autocannon since it has no drop off you can do it across the map, that and you can kill mests with the autocannon to if you shoot it centre mass, Also eagle strike all the wayyy!!!
When starting the mission, deploy supply in the extraction area so when you return to the extraction area, you already have a restock of supplies and possibly deploy another one. (Time the cool downs)
For me, nothing is more satisfying than hitting a bot drop ship with an orbital rail cannon strike. My favorite stratagem easily. Very fast cool down, unlimited uses and one shots tanks, drop ships, bile titans, chargers, those annoying rocket hulks, clear the way for democracy.
The favorite eagle has got to be the first one you unlock: The Strafing Run. Unwhelming at first glance, it is indeed nothing to scoff at. A line of targets coming your way? Strafing run and watch them be riddled with bullets. It is an effective horde control stratagem, and while sometimes it might not kill, it will definitely weaken. Oh and its not just you, this stratagem is the fastest in the Eagle tree, the description says so, and even if I might be wrong, it feels the fastest. Using this, it is great in a pinch like you said. Best of all? You have a high chance of not dying to it if you place it at your feet! Since the attack is in a line in front of you, you can place it at your feet while facing a horde and watch them melt. Great stratagem, but you'll need something to deal with armor most definitely. Unless, of course, you're on crowd control duty. Nice video!
One thing you didn't mention exactly but I think is important, you can throw the strafing run basically directly in front of your feet and it won't hit you. As for the 500kg I find it extremely inconsistent, it never does as much damage as you think it will to a base
It’s been noticeable that the 500kg does massive damage in a small radius. Like drop a 500kg right under or on top of a bile Titan? Dead. If the bile Titan moves like 5 feet away from the bomb it lives
Fun with 500 kgs - I was one a bug mission and team is heading for extract, we're getting overwhelmed and I get sort of cut off from the group and start being pushed away from extraction. Run right into a bile titan with a wave of enemies in front and behind. I'm dead so i just throw a 500 at my feet because why not remove a lot of them from the world and keep scrambling. Pure luck, the 500 lands on the bile titan, one shots it, and then it falls over onto a swarm of enemies chasing me killing about half of them and blocking the rest just enough for me to get away. I was playing with my normal friend group, they go nuts. From the ridge they were on it looked like something from a movie. I was definitely like "yeah, that was totally what I meant to do there." Just such a fun game. Moments like that happen every few hours of game play.
the 500kg bomb always drops in at a 45 degree angle to your left of where you were facing when you called it in. SO if you are trying to use it to clear eggs in those narrow cliff structures dont run in there and chuck it right at the eggs or it will hit the exterior of the cliff. Instead stand on the outside of the structure with the entrance to your left and throw it over the wall into the space. Great way to pop all the eggs without burning through tons of your reinforcement budget on 7+
Dude, your videos are the best and your enthusiasm shows. Not the beginner tips but the nitty gritty of the subtle stuff. People sharing tips is a sign of appreciation and reciprocates into new videos. Well done sir. FOR DEMOCRACY!
500kg has a surprisingly small radius, though, you shouldn't be getting hit by it. And if you do, the 50% damage reduc probably isn't going to help too much
Max hanger upgrade gives you two 500Kilo bombs per rearm which make it a little more versatile to take especially if you dont have rearm upgrades for your orbital strategems.
I'm loving these videos. I'm just sad I'm late to them and knowing what I know now. Like your advice to get the 50% cool down time for eagle strikes. Yeah, Arrow Head just nulled that with one of their new "fun" modifiers that just screw us over. I'm honestly really torn as to how hard the devs have hamstringed us. They give us a 500kg bomb and consider that massive.....Meanwhile the IRL GBU-43 Massive Ordinance Air Blast Bomb (MOAB) clocks in at a whopping 9,850kg's or more accurately (because it's American made and used) 21,715 lbs. And we're playing around with 500kg's like they're the biggest baddest things ever. I want us to get at least 10K kg bombs. If they almost exist in reality, then there's no way Super Earth hasn't sent them with the Hell Divers.
I've just jumped on for the first time this week, things do feel a bit odd! I hear ya about the fact the time has worn on since the release. I feel like this video is already WAAAAY out of date. Nonetheless, I'm glad you're enjoying the content and I really appreciate the support!
Napalm eagle is pretty good against bug breaches as it clears out the smaller spawns allowing you to deal with the bigger more dangerous enemies with a railgun or something without getting interrupted by those god damn hunters. Getting the final upgrade for eagles gives you 2 500 kg bombs.
Love this! I tend to be the Support/QoL player for my squad, and even if im not using many of these with any frequency, it definitely help me to understand what might be going through my squads minds when it comes to dropping ordnance. 😊👍
People tend to overlook the gas strike - I've found that it does a superb job against terminid breaches, and it also SIGNIFICANTLY weakens chargers that get caught in the cloud
I want them to make like a “big map mission “ and give us a halo warhog style stratagem, imagine calling In a vichael or two and just pushing enemies moving at higher speeds, or like a Humvee that you can double up on loading it up with stratagems / ammo
I always have a squad member bring in a Smoke Eagle on Automaton missions. Had a drop last night where we were clearing the map and were just about done, just wanted to clear the last two factories that were right next to each other. When we got there we realized one was a base with tanks and cannon towers. Our front line was getting absolutely hammered and we just couldn't make any headway regardless of all the stratagems we used. I called out I wanted to do a solo flank to pull some enemies from the front line and make an attempt at the cannon tower. My buddy threw a smoke Eagle down and I booked it, managed to get underneath the tower and take it out while simultaneously pulling dozens of Automatons from the front and buying precious time for my squad to clear and resupply. It cost me my life in the end but was well worth as after I reinforced we all managed to push our way into the base and lay waste to everything that was left. Was an awesome moment and one I likely won't forget. Truly a "My life for Super Earth!" moment!
The strafe run is always on my bar. It is by far the easiest to control. When you throw it, instead of spreading horizontally in relation to the player like other runs like napalm and standard, instead the strafe run goes in a line away from the player starting at the call in grenade.
the strafe runs language literally states near instant deploy time think of it as the eagles have to fly in close to start a cluster bomb drop and the bomb travel time but they just have to shoot while flying past bullet is faster than gravity
cluster bomb wins in frequency, but if you’re talking about the utility per singular use then killing mobs, objectives, or effectiveness in general, it’s not going to be better than airstrike or napalm strike in any of those areas. The only time i would recommend using a cluster bomb are escort missions so your fire doesnt kill civilians. At higher levels large mobs shouldn’t pose much of a threat if you have the laser drone or a shield generator pack. I go armors with medkit, run, get hit by small mobs to stim myself get complete immunity and infinite stamina for a few seconds and just keep running while my drone does the killing. Sentries and mortars are also more effective but may result in collateral damage
I don't understand the mechanics/conditions required yet, and it's quite inconsistent, but you can 100% destroy bot factories and bug holes with the cluster strike
Thank you so much for reminding me! I've been telling people I'm going to do this and I haven't yet. I will go over all my videos this afternoon that are of this nature and chapter up! Thank you for your feedback and taking the time to write the comment!
I love your content and have been watching all the videos!! My only gripe. is ease of use, a banner or timestamp to call out the eagle stratagem you are referencing at that time. had to rewind a bunch.
Yo! Thanks so much! Yeah, I'm definitely not making these videos as polished as they could be, usually add banners etc. A timestamp is a good call! Out of curiousity, what are you finding most useful about the videos? Really appreciate the support!
Honestly the time you have invested into learning the options available. its essentially a tier list with context. i am a casual player, get maybe an hour or 2 a night if lucky. So i like to invest my hard earned creds into things that aren't junk. @@PhaseShifter
Yeah I second the time stamp or visual banner of different strats being mentioned. I was struggling to catch up with all the info seeing that I’m still not familiar with all the stratagems yet.
I had the same problem, but it could be handled with less effort by just saying the strats name now and then, instead of this, it, its, etc again and again. With how there is barely a pause between stats I had to turn on subtitles and rewind multiple times. Other than having to work to pick up what he's putting down his vids are S tier.
Few things about smoke, all smoke stops any AI inside from seeing you, this means if bugs are in the smoke they will stand still because they can't track you, if bots are shooting at you already they won't stop shooting where you used to be, smoke will cause you to drain stamina faster and regen slower.
My tip: if you see sentries active and shooting bots or bugs Don't drop orbital or eagle strikes near the turrets, you lose the extra firepower and it wastes your teams sentry strategems Sucks when I get all 4 sentries placed and ready for a war and 3 are gone because 'hehe bombs go boom' Really tempts me to... Eliminate traitors...
I run eagle smoke when I am playing against bugs because fighting bugs till you win isn't a really a viable strategy. So I do whatever I need to do, throw smoke and run away.
A lot of strikes, orbital or eagle, will target the largest enemy in the group within a radius. Meaning, even if the red beam is off the target, the hit will still find the largest mark. Whether that hit is effective against that enemy, is a different story. A potential problem is when big targets rush you, causing the target to hit closer to you than intended and different from where your visual feedback would indicate, since it isn't the point where you threw the ball.
I run a group support kinda build, ammo back pack recoilless rifle or maybe even a disposable rocket and keep those rockets firin, and a napalm strike, accent with a turret
First build I’ve made is the cc fire one you mentioned, very effective. Flames ignore armour I believe as I use flamethrower to melt chargers and make sure to dodge their rush’s and then shoot flames when they halt, the flamethrower has some crazy range and lights the floor on fire too so don’t worry about having to be too close (don’t use for automaton tanks as I’m unsure if their armour can be penetrated) , good option if you’re not a missile type of player, also lots of cc so controlling the hordes while having a weapon for armour is huge for the team comp, tho I would mainly use it for bugs, missiles for automatons
Best eagle is the smoke eagle. As well as concealing your position it will also close bug holes(which most people don't know). Meaning if you're solo and want to stealth kill a nest, call one in. You'll be able to move freely through the smoke undetected and the strike will take out 2-3 hole no problem.
the rocket pods are fucking goated against the automatons. they one shot turrets, tanks, and hulks. i wouldn’t rly recommend them for the bugs (i just use the regular eagle strike for them) but don’t underestimate them when going on automaton missions. they are lifesavers
Not strategem related, but you can instantly complete the "Stop illegal broadcast" objective by hitting the upper portion of the tower with a grenade launcher shot. Stuff like Recoiless Rifle probably work too but I haven't tried them yet.
I use eagles to shut down the flying bot drops before they can send down the automatons. If a big one survives, the crashing plane will eventually kill it.
In my testing and gameplay (which is not much, I`m only 30 hours in), the Napalm seems to be the less useful, considering two factors: 1-Uses an Eagle, since you can`t Chain request Eagles this becomes a choice of what is best, all the while you could call a Rocket Eagle to hit a big target and immediately follow with the Gas Strike for smaller targets. 2-The Gas Strike does more damage over time and can wipe low lvl insects quite easily, on top of being on a very low CD. Those only works for Insects, the robots don`t take much damage from the fire and zero from gas, so you`ll have to use other Strategems against them.
As mentioned above, the gas does work on bots. (Suggesting it's chlorine gas to me.) That said, watching bots walk out of the napalm is fit for Terminator flashback territory.
Robots do take damage from both fire and gas. It's just that each individual bot tend to be tankier than each individual bug, as the bots are fewer in overall numbers
I think the airstrike+cluster bomb is one of the best combos you can have, the building clearing and the horde clearing work together maasterfully to pretty much ruin any nest or base. Take an autocannon support gun on top of that, and you're pretty much unstoppable.
Most fireteams seem to think they consist out of only 4 members. Not ours. Ours is 5! Our beloved pilot is as much a member of the fireteam as any one of us!

500kilogram bomb and napalm strike
if u accidentally kill a teammate its good form to throw their respawn next to their gear
I do this all the time - especially when their gear is in the middle of a swarm of 'nids.
All I heard was to drop an anti-personnel mine field then drop the respawn in the middle
So many people do not do this. I have lost so many support wrapons and samples because of it. Agreed 100%
I’m always an advocate of this. It’s fair it’s just It’s Democratic
@@Keyce0013hell yeah
For those who don’t know, the auto cannon can one shot clear bug holes if your shoot into them. Great way to clear them if you’re out of nades
I always take one of these or the grenade launcher when I know I'll be clearing holes.
Works well on the fabricators also
ALSO on the Robot Buildings... (And their friggin' Artillery/cannon buildings too)
artillery building is the worse lol
It's quite helpful for deleting large groups of eggs quickly per shot
My friends: “Damn it, you don’t have to stand on a hill and salute every time an airstrike comes in!”
You absolutely do though! Gives you more kills.
It gives you more DEMOCRACY!

Classic with the gat !
I've sacrificed myself with a 500kg bomb to hit a titan and 4 chargers. All for managed democracy!
Even better if you get smacked, and just flail through the air while explosions go off behind you.
@@carsonfarmer1074My greatest tale of sacrifice involved running out the map until i was deemed a traitor before immediately running into a horde of bugs. Netted like 20 kills and probably saved the early game. 8/10 strat, would recommend
Fuck yeah, democracy.
Thank you for the many useful and detailed tips fellow Helldiver 💯
Wait, the laser on the drone ignores armor, but the Sickle I can carry doesn't? Why would they do that? That would give the laser a job to do!
Nice tips!
Defo some nuances here!
Agreed!!!!
not to mention its only 3 keys to press to deploy so its a great clutch strat
REALLY GOOD POINT!@@Spudmuffinz
This might be a dumb thing to call out, but I didn't realize this and I figure there might be others who were confused about the same thing:
I assumed from the descriptions that the 'number of uses' thing meant that was a 'per misson' limit. It's not. It's just the number of times you can use the ability before the eagle itself has to return to rearm. It just goes on cooldown for like 2 min and when it comes back all the uses are replinished.
Thank you for clearing that up
The orbital laser is the only one with limited uses. It can be only used 3 times per mission.
@@Laid2Rest94what about 500kg bomb?
@LightCrasher you get 1 use per eagle rearm, meaning you have an infinite amount of them. If you upgrade the eagle to max, you get 2 charges before rearm, but the rearm itself is reduced to just 2 mins. Same for every orbital strike, including the railcannon. The only thing that has a hard limit per mission is the orbital laser.

1. Eagle CB is S Tier and I use it on every dive. You will never not have a good time, just realize it moves perpendicular to where you're facing, so NEVER DROP THESE WHEN YOU'RE ON FLANK OR YOUR BUDDIES WILL DIE
2. Eagle strafe as it's so easy to pop off and you get quite afew of them before resupply. Depending on the mission, it's either this or
3. Orbital Airburst. An effective area of denial and really helps in retreat. Just be a good teammate when managing this level of democracy
4. Eagle napalm. Literally 'nam. Nuff said. S+ Tier shitpusher
I missed that out about rocket pods re: buildings :/
Same my usual setup is airstrike, pods and recoiless. Last usualy is prescision orbital strike. Main reason is that this package can deal with any threat in game and its pretty hard to kill own team.
Imao the rocket pods are missing way too often, even if the target isn't moving, very disappointed..
Yeah I thought the rocket pods would be useful, but it can't even take out a charger. I suppose it's good for medium sized ones like the hive brood, but those don't take too much to kill either with your primary. I might have to try it out again.
is railcannon strike a better alternative?
Another thing to note with the eagle airstrike is it can take out multiple nests, if you get a good placement with them in line with the strike's angle.
which one? I swear I've tried this multiple times with the cluster bomb and never seem to get a single one destroyed.
@@brentschwartz3995 cluster wont destroy nests nor buildings
Cluster bombs do no structure damage. The air strike is the one that just drops the explosive bombs and can take out a structure.
@@brentschwartz3995cluster bomb wont destroy structures, but the airstrike will

Multi use and quick cool downs when you have the upgrades. Sooo fun.
INSANE!
Having 2 500kg bombs is so nice at max ship module for eagles
On the final upgrade, does it give you 1 extra use for each eagle stratagem you bring? Or just one extra total? So if I bring 4 Eagle stratagems, do they all get +1 each?
@@thedefiantking one for each. Legit allows you to just spam air strikes.
My favorite part is telling teammates to stay back during a drop wether it's orbital or eagle and theres always one dude who runs straight at it despite being advised to pull back multiple times
Me: throws strat into empty area, not a teammate in sight
Teammate: instantly appears and chases the red ball
The 500kg bomb also has a much smaller area of effect than you'd think, hence needing to have the bio titan near the center of the blast to kill it. Don't expect it to clear a really large area of enemies.
The 500kg virtually has no impact damage, i had it land on a charger and not kill it, i think they need to add a big AOE and an ever bigger initial lethal explosion circle of the bomb exploding rather than a high vertical damage
Combo it with the dome shield, have the bomb stuck near the top of the shield and increase the damage radius.
Eagle is the ONLY strategem I use. Something about a space-a10 just feels right
Bombing run is one of the first things I recommend players pick up.
3:46 I've noticed that the cluster bomb sometimes doesn't have a kill counter, even when I watch it decimated a swarm of bugs
The others seem to be a typical AOE.
quick tip for the SEAF cannon instead of carrying the shells to the loader you can spam your pick up button to do animation cancels which will make you move faster
another note. they usually try to sucker you with a smoke bomb. theres 2 yellows, the smoke and the mini nuke
There is also red- napalm, orange- high explosive, green - explosive, and blue- stasis
Great info, I've been unable to do that so far. I guess if we can figure out the trajectory and positioning required we can do this consistently!
Been watching a lot of your videos on HD2 lately and I've learned alot! Keep it coming! 🤙
Really glad they're helping mate! Thank you for the support!
A good tip is to switch your stratagem to the arrows on the keyboard or dpad on controller so you can keep moving while you’re calling them

That took some relearning for me, but it's too big a utility to not have, being able to dial up reinforcements while running or gear while on the move provides enormous utility.
I’ve used the Dpad by default. Not sure what change you’re speaking of?
@@DdoubleUfor computer the calls for stratagems are the same as our running keys w,a,s,d so we can’t move and call stratagems unless you re map them out
Mint idea. Nice one

WOAH!
the marker sphere can get stuck on a rifle/laser drone hovering above your teammates head. it is hilarious but not ideal.
HA!
I had a orbital strike bounce of the head of a commander and bounced at my buddy 😂
Best in slot most of the time I think!
The 500Kg bomb is a crowd pleaser but I tend to get much more work out of the 110 Rockets and Cluster bombs
i one shot a bile titan with rocket pods. Theyre goated
The 500 kg bomb is cool to look at but overall it’s disappointing that the damage area is so small for such a huge explosion
500kg Bomb feels very underwhelming, but looks outstanding. I can't tell you how many times I would drop one near an Automatron factory and wasn't enough to blow the structure up. The splash damage needs to be tinkered with imo.
I agree. It feels very hit and miss. When you get two charges it's a bit better!
Just started helldivers yesterday, have to say its addicted. Now looking for the youtube Channel to go with. Good job explaining.
Really glad this is helping you!
So far ive gotten 3 loadouts that work IF they are all 3 being used at the same time
Loadout 1.
Priority: Armor
Orbital railcannon, Eagle Airstrike, Shield Backpack, rail gun. Impact grenades + armor with +2 grenade perks.
Youre main goal is taking out High value targets within the ranks of a swarm or advance (tanks, hulks, chargers, bile titans)
Use the eagle airstrike, railcannon strike, and railgun to deal with any armor unit causing issues. Any group of armor that does not include an HVT (tanks hulks, chargers, bile titan) use impact grenades.
**sidenote**
You can 2 shot automaton tanks with impacts if u hit the glowing coils, but only do this if youre railcannoms is on cooldown AND its isolated, or if you know you can isolate it*
Loadout 2
(2 players will be using this, 1 has recoilless rifle, 1 has stalwart lmg)
Priority: add clear/ control
Eagle cluster bombs, (eagle napalm for 1 guy strafing run for the other, (stalwart + supply pack for 1 guy, recoiless rifle + mortar sentry for the other).
Priority: pace control
Railcannon strike, grenade launcher, gatling sentry, airburst orbital.
My best 500kg story was getting 7 bile titans in a row, one after another that was a really hectic teir 8 icbm mission

Understood!
Having seen actual 500lb bombs drop, this one was really underwhelming... I understand why they won't make it more realistic but for reference: danger close for that size ordnance is 300m (and that's the minimum safe distance)
Yeah, whilst I don't have any first hand experience of that I do think the bomb name is a bit misleading!
I usually just throw one down right before extracting
I was definitely like "yeah, that was totally what I meant to do there."
Just such a fun game.

Doing stealth runs, smokes are absolutely legendary
The 500kg bomb with the explosion resist armor is straight up Rambo level.
500kg bomb is the best on charger. I usually use rail gun to stun em until bomb drop

Glad it's helped!
You should see the first Helldivers, they had tanks, mechs, atv's, bikes, airstrikes, all kinds of shit
So strong!
I mean it doesnt deal the most damage but it definitely clears out the little dudes
the strafe runs language literally states near instant deploy time think of it as the eagles have to fly in close to start a cluster bomb drop and the bomb travel time but they just have to shoot while flying past bullet is faster than gravity
This video is also a good thing to mention if a bug breach opens DON’T STAND 5 FEET FROM THE HOLE
cluster bomb wins in frequency, but if you’re talking about the utility per singular use then killing mobs, objectives, or effectiveness in general, it’s not going to be better than airstrike or napalm strike in any of those areas.
I don't understand the mechanics/conditions required yet, and it's quite inconsistent, but you can 100% destroy bot factories and bug holes with the cluster strike
suggestion : chapters are not neatly created and maybe using a title screen for each "eagle" so we can easily jump from one to the other
Thank you so much for reminding me!
Note, Eagles' number of uses is actually a reload time. Eagles have a very low reuse time, but eventually, they'll have to go get more ammo.
Few things about smoke, all smoke stops any AI inside from seeing you, this means if bugs are in the smoke they will stand still because they can't track you, if bots are shooting at you already they won't stop shooting where you used to be, smoke will cause you to drain stamina faster and regen slower.
I use the napalm eagle just for the cinematic coolness of it
We need to start dropping directly on the reinforce beacon to avoid hell pod friendly fire
My tip: if you see sentries active and shooting bots or bugs
Don't drop orbital or eagle strikes near the turrets, you lose the extra firepower and it wastes your teams sentry strategems
Sucks when I get all 4 sentries placed and ready for a war and 3 are gone because 'hehe bombs go boom'
Really tempts me to... Eliminate traitors...
I run eagle smoke when I am playing against bugs because fighting bugs till you win isn't a really a viable strategy. So I do whatever I need to do, throw smoke and run away.
the cluster strike can destroy fabs/nests but it need one of the explosions to land exactly in the opening. it dosent happen often it does happen
Smokes (both orbital and eagle) and EMS are really good for civilian extract missions on high difficulty.
I feel like an underrated strategem is the orbital gas strike mix it with a ems storm or the napalm eagle and id imagine they are great
Best eagle is the smoke eagle. As well as concealing your position it will also close bug holes(which most people don't know). Meaning if you're solo and want to stealth kill a nest, call one in. You'll be able to move freely through the smoke undetected and the strike will take out 2-3 hole no problem.
Really interesting point! Thanks for sharing this!
the rocket pods are fucking goated against the automatons. they one shot turrets, tanks, and hulks. i wouldn’t rly recommend them for the bugs (i just use the regular eagle strike for them) but don’t underestimate them when going on automaton missions. they are lifesavers
I have had great success with using the rocket strike on tanks almost always takes them out in one run
Throwing an airstrike into a bug outpost can close the holes pretty quick if they hit right
dude is the equivalent of Brash Tactics
Not strategem related, but you can instantly complete the "Stop illegal broadcast" objective by hitting the upper portion of the tower with a grenade launcher shot. Stuff like Recoiless Rifle probably work too but I haven't tried them yet.
I use eagles to shut down the flying bot drops before they can send down the automatons. If a big one survives, the crashing plane will eventually kill it.
How do you use the refill packs on your back? I can only give them to teammates
Press down on the dpad on PS5
If on PC, press 5 to hand one to yourself.
The Cluster bomb always comes to a 90° angle to the throw, in exfil lvl 5 i managed a 32x multikill on the bugs with a single well thrown clusterbomb
In my testing and gameplay (which is not much, I`m only 30 hours in), the Napalm seems to be the less useful, considering two factors:
1-Uses an Eagle, since you can`t Chain request Eagles this becomes a choice of what is best, all the while you could call a Rocket Eagle to hit a big target and immediately follow with the Gas Strike for smaller targets.
2-The Gas Strike does more damage over time and can wipe low lvl insects quite easily, on top of being on a very low CD.
Those only works for Insects, the robots don`t take much damage from the fire and zero from gas, so you`ll have to use other Strategems against them.
The automatons absolutely take damage from the gas in my testing, the description even says it's corrosive
Absolutely agree!
If you're using the autocannon, that provides all the building clearing you could ever need, and then some
Most fireteams seem to think they consist out of only 4 members.
Not ours. Ours is 5! Our beloved pilot is as much a member of the fireteam as any one of us!
EAGLES NEVER MISS!
The joy of air supremacy
The airstrike will always land perpendicular to whatever angle you throw it at.
With the notable exception of the quick strafing run.
