I love Wolfgang's room makeover! Might I suggest you find a blank outlet cover for the outlet behind his bed. That way you don't have to worry about him sticking things in the outlet when bored at nap time! You will not be able to use the outlet but you can always change it when he gets older.❤

You need to add the safety plugs in your wall outlets, especially the one right behind his be, they have plastic pieces that you insert right in the plugs to keep the little fingers out and not get shocked or worse!

Wolfgang's room looks fantastic! You all did a great job! It's ok for his room to look bare because he won't be that tiny for long. Once Wolfgang grows too big for that bed. You need room for a twin-size bed. It's a practical layout you all chose to do.
Looks amazing!! The little secretary desk is precious. Take a sanding block. I promise it’ll take you five minutes like a high 220 grade sand it all over make it completely smooth for little fingers and then get some polyurethane and you can get that in a spray can too again it’ll take five minutes spray all that wood and you’ll have that desk forever. He’s room is soooo cute!!! Good job mama!!!
Love the new room Kim! I grew up in a home that was never "decorated." Very few pictures on the wall and furniture that didn't match unless it was purchased as a set. As a result, my homes have never been decorated. Just seeing the thought and care that you put into your children's rooms warms my heart. Good on you! From Hamilton, Ontario. I have that same desk, almost exactly. It belonged to my mother. The chair is different; mine swivels, and my desk has a center drawer and a pencil rest beneath the cubbies. Thirty-some-odd years ago, I took it down to the original color, going through several layers of paint, and painted the drawer fronts blue. I never could decide how to paint the chair, so it remains original. It's such a sentimental piece. It was in my room growing up and now it's in my family room. I've filled the drawers with little toys and interesting things for the youngest visitors to our home to explore. It looks great in Wolfgang's room - you did a great job! ~ Lisa P..S. If you add a strip of fabric to the hem on the curtains it will help immensely. To be perfectly blunt, high-water curtains make it look like you were too cheap to buy the right length. But, it's an easy fix. Look for a stripe or graphic print that has the colors of the room in it and just attach it with a running stitch, or even hem tape. Aim for the hem to just kiss the floor. It will add so much to the room. Hope I didn't hurt your feelings 🙂

For the outlets, mark arounf the outlet with lipstick. Press the board in place, pressing hard around the outlet to leave an impression in the beadboard. Then cut where the lipstick is
Once again you're selling yourself short. The room is great. Love the rug, the curtains, and the space you left for the kids to have fun. I don't think you'll have to cover the other walls but maybe peint the dressing doors? Thank you to make this realistic. It always bothered me to see people doing DIY so easily when I struggle so much. Again great work Kim

I just recently finished watching Natalie Bennett's bedroom makeover and I love that you guys are both DIYing and doing it authentically, but reflect the spectrum of skill levels. I would like to be able to pull off Natalie's level of practice with cutting all the boards and knowing how to make things work the way she does, but I also definitely have the "good enough" level of experience right now. I feel like I would for sure measure four times and still manage to get the wrong cuts. I am astonished with how she even manages to make her own shelves and put them up so level when she does.
Natalie and Weston have been doing home renovations for years, she literally does have years of experience. Shes so talented though, both her home renovations and homesteading. I've been watching her videos since Liam and Judah were 3 months old.
Just a thought or two....get some sealant/varnish for the desk and chair.. and anchor the rug half way under the bed. You might like it!! Great job Kim!!

I’m with you on painting 😫😫😫😫. We painted our kids bedrooms before we move and I don’t want to paint again for a long time!!!! 🤯🤯🤯. We are so blessed to have a wonderful family and my uncle is painting our living/dining room which has a two story wall. MVP right there!!! I absolutely love the colors you picked for the room. Oh Kim, you are my idol. Look at you being as you were saying, “Tim the Toolman Taylor.” No moss grows under you when you set your mind on something. Who cares if it’s not perfect. No one notices but you anyway. I saw nothing but a beautifully created space, Wolfgang loves it and that is all that matters. Keep up the good work. You should be very proud of yourself. The desk is gorgeous and he appears to love it. In my opinion, the room is Pinterest worthy!!!!you should post it on there. It is positive proof that you are such a magnificent, loving, and nurturing Mom. You always step out of your comfort zone and charge full steam ahead. I know that you instill in your children that they can do anything they set out to do. They learn from you and Alex that as long as you make the attempt, it doesn’t matter what the outcome is, the fact that they tried is all that is important. Being a positive and loving parent is the ultimate way of raising your children. Keep up the good work and enjoy those precious children of yours. Also, don’t forget about the chickens, they are also part of your family.

Just a recommendation, the curtains should have a center bracket for exta support in the middle. Only because velvet curtains are heavy and it will prevent them from falling. The breadboard looks so good! I hate painting too, my husband is a painting perfectionist so I am glad to give him that job. He did the chair rail in our formal living and dinning room, I couldn't have done it myself I was just the help 😂😂. Wolfgangs room looks so cute and that he already christened it with crayons is even more perfect! You did a great job and applause to Alex and your neighbor for helping 👏.

Well done! Don’t mind the greens in the rug, it’s good, the desk, sand paper it, all the water has messed up the roll top, but rub a bar of soap on the grooves, it will slide easier. God bless 💕 happy Easter
I agree, the wood probably swelled, let it completely dry. I was going to suggest Johnson's furniture wax. Rub it generously in the track and raise and lowered numerous times. Also, make sure that the roller is sitting in the groove. Super cute.😊
The room turned out so cute Kim you remind me of myself years ago and the kids were younger. I couldn’t wait to do what I had in my head so I would plunge for too the color. I love when I used it it was the one I used was called Williamsburg blue, I love the red white and blue thing. Every house we’ve ever been in at least one of my rooms has carried that thing I’ve always loved it. later on you got tired of it. You could use the patriotic theme with it with the accent accent. It looks really cute but you did a beautiful job. Be proud of yourself. You do so much for your family. It’s amazing. You’re a wonderful mom and wife and you work together great, keep up the good work
Great job, Kim. It's a very nifty boys' room! I love the beadboard & the college you made. I've painted a few rooms in my life. They turned out ok & got better each time. I used to help my Dad do odd jobs around the house, so I knew a little about some things. He was a kind of carpenter! I loved doing all those things! It is hard, but it's worth it! One of them will be my Granddaughter’s room, as we provide her daycare and sleepovers. This has given me so much inspiration and, confidence in myself! Thank you so much for sharing!
I'm only part of the way through, but you need to give yourself some credit! As my husband always says, "caulk and paint for the carpenter you ain't" you did fine! I LOVE the colors. And yes, the paneling you bought is pre primed, so you did it exactly right. Ready to just paint. They do make actual wood panels of beadboard instead of the MDF paneling that you bought. But it's much more expensive and you would have had to modify or replace your existing baseboard because it is much thicker. So for your project you got the exact right thing!

I think it would be super cute to put maybe an old-fashioned wooden coat hanger on the empty wall with a wicker basket underneath for extra toy storage. Or even a couple of floating shelves with a couple of wicker basket sitting along the floor right underneath it looks so cute. You did a good job.

I love this video, it reminded me so much of my mother right down to your painter jeans as hers were exactly the same style and colour. The colours look great. Less clutter of furniture makes for a better kids room in my opinion as there is more room to spin in circles and play. Kim you are my kind of pinterest inspiration.
Kim, couple things: Looks amazing but if you are wanting to get into DIY Ryobi make a great range of small but heavy duty tools specifically for DIYers that are lightweight and easy to use. Also, we have a saying in the reno community... Do your best and caulk the rest! The one rule you should always try and follow is the dry time with paint! You will get great results! You can use a wet ("primed") roller to paint and it will be just fine. We are in the process of doing up our whole 120-year old house in the middle of England and it's just an exercise in feeling awful about yourself and just doing your best! 🤣 Good work!
You did a fantastic job! He can really grow in that room, & you're right to leave the back wall blank. Maybe he'll really get into Legos & want the little table, or a tabletop railroad set, or just a nice toddler table to sit & color:) He's so sweet, & it's such a magical age! You could put a few shelves up high on that wall, & maybe put the boat, & artwork/crafts made by the kids. He's surrounded by so much love already, so anything you choose to do is, & will be, beautiful & extra special
Great job! I'd pull the "changing table" out of the closet, paint it, and use it to fill in one of the blank areas. It's a very attractive piece. Also, maybe get a big bean bag chair in faux leather? Toddlers love those.

The blue on the beadboard is gorgeous 😍 also the bed is so cute! You did an amazing job! One little note, make sure to check the mattress regularly as it's sat directly on the ground so it can get mouldy, you could maybe add some slats to the base of the bed just to raise the mattress slightly. You should be so pleased with the room it's beautiful! Xx
We have a neighbor just like yours! He built new beautiful gates for us last year, fixed our kids motorized truck, and his wife will sit with my toddler here and there if she’s napping so I can do school pick up. They are heaven sent! Beautiful room! I love it!

Oh Kim, you are my idol. Look at you being as you were saying, “Tim the Toolman Taylor.” No moss grows under you when you set your mind on something. Who cares if it’s not perfect. No one notices but you anyway. I saw nothing but a beautifully created space, Wolfgang loves it and that is all that matters. Keep up the good work. You should be very proud of yourself. The desk is gorgeous and he appears to love it. In my opinion, the room is Pinterest worthy!!!!you should post it on there. It is positive proof that you are such a magnificent, loving, and nurturing Mom. You always step out of your comfort zone and charge full steam ahead. I know that you instill in your children that they can do anything they set out to do. They learn from you and Alex that as long as you make the attempt, it doesn’t matter what the outcome is, the fact that they tried is all that is important. Being a positive and loving parent is the ultimate way of raising your children. Keep up the good work and enjoy those precious children of yours. Just a recommendation, the curtains should have a center bracket for exta support in the middle. Only because velvet curtains are heavy and it will prevent them from falling.
The breadboard looks so good! I hate painting too, my husband is a painting perfectionist so I am glad to give him that job. He did the chair rail in our formal living and dinning room, I couldn't have done it myself I was just the help 😂😂. Wolfgangs room looks so cute and that he already christened it with crayons is even more perfect! You did a great job and applause to Alex and your neighbor for helping 👏.

Well done! Don’t mind the greens in the rug, it’s good, the desk, sand paper it, all the water has messed up the roll top, but rub a bar of soap on the grooves, it will slide easier. God bless 💕 happy Easter
I agree, the wood probably swelled, let it completely dry. I was going to suggest Johnson's furniture wax. Rub it generously in the track and raise and lowered numerous times. Also, make sure that the roller is sitting in the groove.

The room turned out so cute Kim you remind me of myself years ago and the kids were younger. I couldn’t wait to do what I had in my head so I would plunge for too the color. I love when I used it it was the one I used was called Williamsburg blue, I love the red white and blue thing. Every house we’ve ever been in at least one of my rooms has carried that thing I’ve always loved it. later on you got tired of it. You could use the patriotic theme with it with the accent accent. It looks really cute but you did a beautiful job. Be proud of yourself. You do so much for your family. It’s amazing. You’re a wonderful mom and wife and you work together great, keep up the good work

I used to help my Dad do odd jobs around the house, so I knew a little about some things. He was a kind of carpenter! I loved doing all those things! It is hard, but it's worth it! I LOVE the colors.
And yes, the paneling you bought is pre primed, so you did it exactly right. Ready to just paint. They do make actual wood panels of beadboard instead of the MDF paneling that you bought. But it's much more expensive and you would have had to modify or replace your existing baseboard because it is much thicker. So for your project you got the exact right thing!

I think it would be super cute to put maybe an old-fashioned wooden coat hanger on the empty wall with a wicker basket underneath for extra toy storage. Or even a couple of floating shelves with a couple of wicker basket sitting along the floor right underneath it looks so cute. You did a good job.

I love this video, it reminded me so much of my mother right down to your painter jeans as hers were exactly the same style and colour. The colours look great. Less clutter of furniture makes for a better kids room in my opinion as there is more room to spin in circles and play. Kim you are my kind of pinterest inspiration.

Kim, couple things: Looks amazing but if you are wanting to get into DIY Ryobi make a great range of small but heavy duty tools specifically for DIYers that are lightweight and easy to use. Also, we have a saying in the reno community... Do your best and caulk the rest! The one rule you should always try and follow is the dry time with paint! You will get great results! You can use a wet ("primed") roller to paint and it will be just fine. We are in the process of doing up our whole 120-year old house in the middle of England and it's just an exercise in feeling awful about yourself and just doing your best! 🤣 Good work!

You did a fantastic job! He can really grow in that room, & you're right to leave the back wall blank. Maybe he'll really get into Legos & want the little table, or a tabletop railroad set, or just a nice toddler table to sit & color:) He's so sweet, & it's such a magical age! You could put a few shelves up high on that wall, & maybe put the boat, & artwork/crafts made by the kids. He's surrounded by so much love already, so anything you choose to do is, & will be, beautiful & extra special

Great job! I'd pull the "changing table" out of the closet, paint it, and use it to fill in one of the blank areas. It's a very attractive piece. Also, maybe get a big bean bag chair in faux leather? Toddlers love those.

The blue on the beadboard is gorgeous 😍 also the bed is so cute! You did an amazing job! One little note, make sure to check the mattress regularly as it's sat directly on the ground so it can get mouldy, you could maybe add some slats to the base of the bed just to raise the mattress slightly. You should be so pleased with the room it's beautiful! Xx
