@@dee2973 I appreciate everyone’s concern but I wouldn’t say that this video is me trying to “promote” women to walk alone at night in Kingston. If you watched the whole video you’d know that I ideally wanted to walk to the night market when it was lighter but misjudged the time. I’m not promoting for women to walk alone at Kingston at night but just merely sharing my experience as a solo female backpacker in Jamaica. I clearly said in my video that I wasn’t trying to test my luck… but I appreciate everyone’s concern and will definitely take my precautions in the future but will still continue to do me. Big up yourself

Love, please continue to show no fear but be calculated! You solo, NEVER walk alone at night, thats when the madness happens the most, less light to see anything! Youre grown you will do as you please, but youre gorgeous, got body, light skinned, long flowing hair, that accent, the guys will try you and im sure youve experienced a LOT of proposals!! We love taking this journey with you, appreciate you for that, and i got nothing but love and respect for you, take care and get something to protect yourself JUST in case, because youre fearless and bold, that could be perceived as a challenge! Hey Sis, missing you like crazy but as your name says 'bless up' that I get to share your journey. I would like to say a few things.
    1. Glad you are have amazing memories growing up with fishing, camping and dirt bikes and I was lucky enough to provide that for you 🥰
    2. Without a doubt Mum's dumplings are better than Dad's 🤤
    3. Love love love the markets, however I was disappointed to not know if you got something sweet...did you? Showing us your different food adventures is great sis 😁
    4. I am so impressed in the short time that you have been sharing your travels of your developed maturity. To be honest at the start you were ignorantly fearless (not in a bad way but a worrying way). You have now had experiences (we both know certainly not ideal 😢) that shows a greater awareness and appreciation of your own safety. You sharing that transition for all of us to see is truly authentic and transparent, there is no fakeness but the raw version that is my beautiful strong amazing woman of a sister. Giving others solo back packers the real deal and enlightening future travellers of the importance of linking up with well known reliable contacts.
    6. I love you so much and continue sharing your natural beauty inside and out xo

I understand about the worrying about her..I have been too a bit in these last few vlogs. Other viewers have had their concerns too.
She's young and carefree, and still a bit reckless. At that age most of us were carefree,a bit reckless and also a bit naive to the ways of the world.
I just hope she starts heeding the advice and stays safe. 🙏 ❤

My girl, uptown people don't really walk, night or day.😂 Most of them have access to a ride so you rarely see people walking up town. If you go into the wealthier neighborhoods the only people you will see walking are the hired help! Anybody you see walking in the really wealthy neighborhoods is doing it for the exercise and that is usually at daybreak!

We appreciate your efforts to highlight our country and what it has to offer for back packers but we want you to do so without jeopardizing yourself.
With regards to curse words in some of your videos, every culture has its good and bad words. While some might think it's cool to use curse words, it can seem offensive to others. You are trying to appeal to a wider audience so keep in mind that some might not mind, while others might not like hearing the curse words as they might have their kids watching it too. She is trying to dispell some of the negative press Jamaica gets about crime and safety so the most we can do is try and push her in the right direction so that she won't get herself in any unnecessary issues. She has a point that a lot of the negative press that Jamaica get is not true but at the same time, we are just trying to guide her as every country has crime including the US, England, and Australia.

Most middle class Jamaicans from the Suburbs actually have their family drop them off and pick them up from events if they are not driving themselves. 3 out 10 people get punch in the face by random people in BIG BIG FIRST WORLD NEW YORK CITY ( NBC News) so it's not just Kingston.

    Hey Jews (Jess) @blessupjess
The night time vlogs I feel are less popular so if I were you I would put less focus on vlogging at night
The night market is nice, but a lot of us are not feeling the vibes seeing you scared and uncomfortable walking around. It’s ok to record for safety, but vlogging and posting about your walk at night puts a negative spotlight and places you in unnecessary risk even though like you said it wasn’t your intention.
I think a lot of us like seeing the happy and fearless Jess that we have become drawn and accustomed to in your day vlogs. I think that’s your bread and butter. There’s so much you can see and do during the day. If you do decide to vlog at night, do something that is safe and with a group of people you can trust. Believe me, we don’t like to see you scared and we definitely don’t want to see you get hurt.
Tip: I recommend searching and asking to link up with other local RUclipsrs in Jamaica. ie: Skunk Lifestyle, Tiffany Silver
    One Love 🫶🏼 Jess

I’m not even Jamaican but I’m getting tired of these ‘is it safe’, ‘what the media doesn’t show you’ videos that seem to be trending amongst RUclipsrs at the moment.
Don’t put yourself in danger for a trending topic. The media is negative about any country that is not a Western country, so no one person needs to take up a mantle to disprove it when most of us know the media has an agenda. So if you would not walk around Australia at night, vlogging and asking ‘is it safe’, why do the same in JA?

This is not a trend I’m jumping on… I’m simply sharing my experience travelling here in Jamaica. Found myself walking to a night market in Kingston and vlogged about it. That’s all there is to it. Big up yourselves and yeah thanks for watching

How is it clickbait or exploitative when it’s literally just me sharing my own personal experience travelling Jamaica? I am walking to a night market at night in Kingston in my video… so how is that clickbait?

Like lots of others have said, JA is just like anywhere else & you have to take the necessary measures to stay safe. You wouldn't get into random guys cars or be too trusting with people back home or in The West so why would JA be different? Your well being is more important than filming content.

Are you having any experiences that don't include the camera? Enjoying life and culture are great. But are you sure no one is watching your patterns? There has to be a balance in how you're doing this. Mix it up a bit and just be in the moment with the people who are physically present. Don't make yourself a target. Walking alone and asking strangers, no matter their jobs or how they present, if you're safe walking here or there suggests you are new and unsure. Don't broadcast that. And this is not a knock on Jamaica.

I am a Jamaican living in the States and I work ten minutes drive from my house and I would not take the Trans to walk home at night from work because it is scary

    • @blessupjess
      @blessupjess  8 месяцев назад

I think the only reason why I was scared was because of the stories people were telling me that were getting to my head… but apart from that I wouldn’t have necessarily felt walking at the time was scary
