  • One of the hallmark signs of being in an emotionally abusive relationship is that you constantly feel like you’re walking on eggshells, this feeling that you never know when you might step on a landmine that will trigger rage, or punitive behaviors like the silent treatment or stonewalling. In this video, Ernest Hart from the Marriage Recovery Center talks about how to recognize when you are caught up in this unhealthy dynamic and how to get help.

It is hell living like this. I am working on my way out with my kids, it hasn't happened fast enough. God loves us too much to think this is ok to live like this...

This is spot on! Thank you for sharing. You have an excellent way of explaining how dealing with someone with narcissistic tendencies makes you feel. I feel seen.😊

This might be the best video that relates to my experience in my marriage that I have found on the internet. Thank you for explaining this so well.
The “garage door” YES! As a parent who is home when she gets home I can relate to this anxiety. It’s horrible.
And was landmined the other night after a friends wedding. Thought we had a great time, all went well. On the drive home she says that she wanted me to be more affectionate with her and touch her more to make her feel wanted. I complained apparently about taking pictures and I also stared at another attractive woman and she was jealous. None of this said in the moment. None of it is reality. It’s like there’s no winning.
Truly an emotional wrecking ball. Still effecting me days later.
Good to know I’m not crazy. This was very helpful to hear. Ty !

Just started watching and so glad you're video hit my you tube. I've know about my wifes narcissist behavior for a few years now. I'm convinced I've overcome that abuse. I've done my own thing for a while now and feel so free...

Went to a Lauren Daigle concert by myself back in June, it was a worship celebration for my freedom from my wifes abuse for the last 20 years

Thank you, Mr. Hart, this was very relatable. I am getting divorced, but I spent a considerable amount of time trying desperately to understand. This video was helpful. You did get divorced I see (your response to Cynthia reveals this). I don't see many success stories when these traits are present. Does anybody with traits ever overcome the "replication of the abuse cycle"? So interesting what you said about the "birthday party". That is how the healing journey began with us back in December of 2018... a land mine explosion in the wake of a birthday party. God bless you.

Surely even the narcissist can feel like they're walking on eggshells too.
