As a local who has lived here for 35 years, here is my short list:
    1. Balboa Park. I consider this the crown jewel of San Diego.
    2. Ocean Beach Pier (best glimpse of "old school" San Diego vibe). Grab a beer and some vodka shooters at Southbeach Bar & Grill and go upstairs for outdoor seating facing the ocean.
    3. Mission Beach boardwalk/bar scene (great beach, great for people watching, meeting singles)
    4. Kate Sessions Park/Mt Soledad (bring a picnic to the park, you won't regret it!)
    5. Hotel Del/Coronado (best family beach)
    6. La Jolla. Have breakfast at Brockton Villa and then walk past Wind N Sea beach and on to Bird Rock.
    7. Old Del Mar and be sure to walk down to the little beach there. Hit up the race track if you are into that scene.
    8. Torrey Pines State Park. If you can, go in the morning during the week when there are fewer people. One of my favorite spots on the planet.
    9. San Diego Zoo
    10. Little Italy/Gas Lamp District. Also some great restaurants in North Park/South Park.
    11. Drinks at Top of the Hyatt (spectacular views)
    12. Cabrillo Monument (a MUST do on a clear day)
    13. Drinks at Bali Hai during the sunset (on Shelter Island)
    14. Take a cruise around the bay on the Hornblower
    15. Explore the Midway carrier/museum.
I consider Old Town and Seaport Village Tourist traps, but a lot of tourists enjoy them a lot!

As a local I gotta say it isn't a bad video but there's obviously a lot more to see. Here's some of my insight:
-I suggest going to Chicano Park for sure. Gorgeous murals and there is always stuff going on there.
-Hodad's is another super busy food spot but they're a locally founded burger place that's cool as hell and delicious. (They have a spot in OB and one on Broadway)
-Mount Soledad isn't really San Diego (It's in La Jolla) but it has a gorgeous view and people go up for the memorial too. It's a fantastic view and on the way up you can see the little people houses (some of the Wizard of Oz munchkin cast lived there so the houses are to their scale).
-I also suggest seeing Little Italy. The mural and globe statues are cool, the neighborhood is nice, and it's cool that you can see the bay pretty well! Lots of food and some art galleries are up there.
-Mission beach might be a bit of a drive since it's north and hooks around the bay but it's so nice going down the boardwalk and to Belmont park. Surf shops, lovely vacation homes, food, and the rollercoaster are some non-water related attractions. (If you go at night you can see the taco shop nearby that's brighter than my future)
    - It's kind of a basic bitch tourist thing but it wasn't mentioned so I'm gonna point out the seal tours. Pretty cool for a tour of the bay, portions of the naval bases, and some lazy-ass sea lions. You can also get that iconic picture of San Diego from the bay (take a selfie because that's the most unique photo you'll get).
    - If you're into symphonies, we have a lovely symphony hall. Highly recommend for those into classical music.
Yeah that's all I got for now. To anyone planning a vacation here, good luck and have fun! And remember that we have more than those dumb yacht tours that are always advertised online!

San Diego is so unique. It has the best weather imaginable whether you love the cold or heat. It’s so middle ground and you won’t suffer most of the year if you hate either one, but perfect if you love the beach. But there’s an downside. The city is meh if you’re looking for excitement or culture. If you’re low-key, laid-back, and love good food and down to Earth people, you’ll love it! Their downtown area has no part of the skyline that sets it apart from other places. The baseball team has never won a World Series and only amusement park is Sea World. And the worst part is their cost of living and taxes is almost on par with LA and the Bay Area making it difficult to live comfortably if you’re not at least upper-middle class, meaning you’re in a profession of a medical doctor, attorney, or entrepreneur.

For a locals guide many of these places mentioned are already nationally known and don't give a locals insight.
Coronado is not an island, it is the end of a peninsula, as it is connected by the isthmus, Silver Strand.
No mention of the wide variety of ethnic and fusion cuisine which many locals consume, to include but not limited to, the California Burrito for example, our large Chaldean, Japanese, Korean, and Filipino populations with the multitude of their restaurants.
The video is a start, but hopefully you will produce better videos in the future.

    • @magicmayhem929
      @magicmayhem929 5 лет назад +1

Every local knows it isn't an island but we still call it that lmao. The bridge really makes it seem like one since no one has to drive the strand to get there any more.
