    If only I knew this 4 years ago! This was the missing piece I needed to automate a calculation that we had to do. Awesome content as always.

      Glad to give the answer, even if it's a bit on the late side!

    Great tutorial, thank you. I would be interested to know if it is possible to establish a link between the description from the keynote file and the description from the shared parameters. If it is not possible, we have to input the same information twice - that's what I do now and sometimes I spot inconsistencies.

    • @AussieBIMGuru
      @AussieBIMGuru  3 года назад +2

      Yes unfortunately the keynote file can only be linked to keynotes. I use a combination of Dynamo, manual work and formulae in loadable families to reduce how much we need to handle these elements. Some firms don't use keynotes for system families at all as a way around this - only for loadable families.

    Great work Gavin, thanks for sharing your knowledge! Is it possible to get the same result with a dynamo script?]

    • @AussieBIMGuru
      @AussieBIMGuru  Год назад

      Yes I believe Rhythm package has a node for this called FamilyInstance.Room which can return the room an element belongs to as long as it is a loadable family.

    Nice! Thanks a lot, Gavin. Is it possible to add families from linked files to the schedule?

    • @AussieBIMGuru
      @AussieBIMGuru  3 года назад +1

      Yes it should be if they are not filtered by room. There is a box that should say 'include elements in linked files'. Unfortunately if you wish to filter by room they wont associate to it however, so you would need to use something like Dynamo to populate a shared parameter with this information instead and use that for filtering across the models.
      I have a tutorial on how to do this here:

    Thank you! is it possible to calculate finish wall, ceiling, floor areas from the room?

      @AussieBIMGuru  2 года назад +2

      Not natively in schedules, you'll need to employ something like Dynamo to read the bounding elements and their properties/geometry.

    Please do one video on 4d, 5d in navisworks with clearly explanation

      I have a 4D tutorial here;
      ruclips.net/video/uwm1N-THKx0/видео.html
      I don't usually use Navisworks for 5D, I do most of this directly from Revit. My background is architectural, so usually the QS manages the cost on larger projects which I tend to work on.

    What if there are Revit groups? Locked parameters on elements by the group

    • @AussieBIMGuru
      @AussieBIMGuru  3 года назад +1

      In this case all parameters I'm scheduling are type parameters, so it shouldn't cause any issues as long as the grouped elements are still inside the room itself. Wherever needed/possible I suggest setting instance based group parameters to 'vary by group instance' at the project level. Some parameters can't work this way due to inbuilt limitations (e.g. Yes/No) so when it comes to those there isn't much that can be done, aside from bother the developers.

      I mostly play roleplaying or old school side scrollers.
      My favourite game of all time is Super Metroid for the Super Nintendo.
      Current I am playing the remastered Mass Effect trilogy and the Megaman X/X2/X3 trilogy on my PS4. I used to play strategy games like Warcraft 3, Diablo 2 and World of Warcraft but don't find enough time for them anymore.
