P.S. Thank you to Gold for believing in me with this video. IYKYK

hey! its me! the guy in the description!
severe lack of that fat guy whose alter is a watermelon aside, this video is heat👍
Oh man! That dude was pretty chill in this Anime.
Manga Ver. : “Wait till they get aloud of Me” 😈
HAMMER!!!! 🤣🤣
@RoshiZen I named my dog after that guy! HAMMMEEEEEERRRR!!!!!! come here, boy! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

HAMMER!!!!
Not joking. I thought the anime got lost in the Mandela effect. I’m the only one in my life that remembers this show on adults swim
I remember this as well
They released a remastered two part movie which covered the entire show back in 2011. Was great because new scenes were added, but the remaster made things a bit blurry.
Ill always remember when I look at my shelf. SH Figuarts had a figure line when the show was new. I have 3 of the 6 they made
It's so good bro all the way down to the music....nostalgic
I memba
S-Crey-Ed is highly underrated imo and I thank you for covering it.
I definitely wanted to see more
Same!
x2
Factx
This anime was named so dumb that most passed it by. I did cause the name was dumb as hell and I didn't wanna seem dumb as hell trying to say it.
S-Cry-Ed, Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, Big-O, and Samurai Champloo. Thank you for listening to my Ted Talk.
All those was peak toonami
Samurai champloo fundamentally changed my taste in music as a kid/teen.
I play Nujabes' (RIP) and others music to this day and don't plan on stopping at all.
As it was written.
I agree. Best of the best 😊
You missed ghost in the shell
I love S-Cry-Ed. I remember watching S-Cry-Ed on adult swim as a kid. I think at one point they even aired all the episodes back to back on a weekend. Reckless fire is peak.
I remember that. Had a marathon before airing the final episode for two days🔥
ive suggested this anime to so many friends and they literally had never heard of it. this was my teenage fave show
Adult swim was putting on banger anime back in the day
I loooove cougar such a great character.
Smh I wish I knew about it back then. Feel like it would’ve become a foundational childhood fandom 😢
todays anime just doesnt give me the same feeling as older anime. the character motions do look better now but i just love how detailed the worlds are in older anime.
After looking at the og Evangelion and final battle of Slayers s2, they're not below current action sequences.
I disagree. Newer anime is animated very poorly and it looks rushed.
"Shell Bullet" is forever etched into my brain. This anime and Birdy The mighty are so underrated! 2000's had some bangers!
That rivalry fight was absolutely insane at the end.
Probably THE most overlooked AND underrated animes of the last 2 decades. I absolutely loved this anime. Multiple times I had to rewatch this anime for it's lore and it's opening and it's characters Kazuma and Ryu-Oh teetering on which was my favorite each episode. 🎉
Mainstream ad driven anime had many decent shows die in the shadows of their numerous fans.
What you missed, but touched upon, is about Cougar being Kazuma's older brother. Cougar's perspective on life is not that different from Kazuma's, because Cougar did more than teach Kazuma how to fight. When you realize that Kazuma emulated Cougar's attacks, because Kazuma and Cougar share attack names (Shocking First Bullet). From the scene you depict of Cougar using speed to blow a hole in the wall, is no different from Kazuma's punch through a wall. Cougar and Kazuma choose to live their life to the fullest without regrets, they just have different means to get there, even if those means would produce the same results. Punch or speed, they'll get through the wall. Ignoring the retcons from the movies, your complaint about how they don't resolve Kazuma's plot about his body falling apart is actually addressed in the series. Just like how Cougar dies, Kazuma also eventually dies; I know it is "ambiguous", but it only makes sense for them to not survive. Live fast, punch hard, and die early. The message of the anime was literally to live and die without regrets, no matter the means, because consequences be damned.
The manga has Kazuma survive and is basically immortal.
@@dansmith1661eh, eh eh, another person that read the series, nice!
Major props to the Voice Actors. On both sides of the Pacific. Everyone bought their A-Game.
I remember feeling very okay about kazuma and ryuho's deterioration concluding offscreen. As a kid I remember feleing sad, knowing they were going to die young. So when the show ended with the two looking rough, but alive...I was pretty okay with that. I knew how they were gonna likely pass on.
Thanks for covering the show. I might just break open the box set again sometime before the year ends.
I didn’t see that a deteriorating but at they were becoming something like that crystalization of altar considering kazuma looked like his altar was starting to replace his body
Also bought/own the box set, one of my favorite series.
This anime was definitely peak and underrated. I remember renting it from the library and putting my friend on. Rivalry at its best tbh.
brings back memories of hiding in class watching anime on youtube in hs 😂
ahh the glory days of youtube before all the copyright abuse
FINALLY someone else who understands 💯 underrated action Anime that a lot of the ones after took inspiration from
I saw this anime when I was a kid in the early 2000 and never remembered the name of it I’ve been looking for it ever since and now my search is over thanks for putting up this video I’m about to binge this one
"implying she is even getting some"
she does get ryuho in the manga lol
I remember watching this when it first came out. It was one of my favorites!
That final fight between Kazuma and Ryuho ending in a completely raw, dirty, fist to fist brawl was nuts
Love to see someone covering this. Huge props. S-cry-ed is so criminally underrated and rarely discussed
Dude i was so happy to see this!!! This series has needed more attention. Awesome story and one of the most interesting, deep, and complex power systems of all time.
Ive been patiently waiting years for someone to drop this video. Thank you 😊
So happy this ended up on my feed. A real blast from the past and reminded me why I enjoyed this show.
glad someone acknowledged this gem. also one of the most memorable ep i can recall from this era of anime.
Spin me right round baby right round ppppuuuunnnnnccchhhhh!!!!
Bro thank you for making this video. This and Inuyasha are my earliest memories of anime
This is the first anime I ever fell in love with. Absolutely incredible start to finish.
Thank you. This was a real breath of fresh air and trip down memory lane.
Thank you sir! This anime did not get enough love. I appreciate this video
I remember stumbling on this randomly on Adult swim. INSTANTLY became one of my favorites for all the reasons you mentioned. Story, characters, Opening and close songs, soundtrack, the whole package. I recommended it to my friends and they loved it too. I can’t believe this was an anime without a manga before it’s so good. I’m not even a Manga guy myself. Only thing i don’t agree with is the negatives you mentioned but man what a good summary. I think I may rewatch this very soon.
Haven’t even made it two minutes into the video but this is what I’ve been waiting for for years!!!!
Thank u man this is one of my favorite anime of all time
For years I have been trying to remember the name of this anime. Thank you!
This made my night! I remember being a kid and crying at how much passion I felt during the last fight 🔥
Oh wow. One of my all time action anime classics. I could hardly believe anyone still knows about it.
Thank you for the vid. XD
Kazu...maaaaaaa!
Ryuhoooooo!
Damn loved this show especially how at the end you find out that Kazuma had a older brother. Named Straight Couger with his own bullets lol
So cool to see this video! I never thought anyone else had seen this anime back in the day.
I remember practicing the dumb finger clench move ahaha
Goodness gracious talk about a forgotten memory. Thanks for taking me down memory lane.
This is such a nostalgia trip for me. One of the very first anime I binged watched way back when.
You have my sub just for bringing this show up 🤘🏿💯
Still one of the best soundtracks in any anime, glad its finally on RUclips
Thank you for this video, ive been trying to remember the name of this anime for YEARS and had no idea how to search for it. This anime had one of if not the best anime rivalries. I gave up trying to find this anime again and just stubble upon your thumbnail.
Took me all day at work to watch this vid. Im gonna have to rewatch this anime now. The nostalgia is so great.
Bro. I still have my DVD collection of this show and fire it up occasionally. This era of anime was really interesting in Sunrise's history. Great video.
Thanks I watched this as a kid and been wanting to remember the name of it new subscriber nowb
Thank you for making a review of this show I have insane nostalgia checking out the series at the library and binge watching it in 2 days with my sibling straight cougar is hands down the man
I love this anime growing up glad to know I wasn't the only one 😅
Good to see someone speaking on this show, was 1 of my favorites

This anime seems like something I would enjoy watching.😎😎👍👍
Great Job!

@@FenixPJ_ No problem!
Your videos are really good and I hope to see more of them.😎👍👍
I'm so glad no one forgot this anime
Damn, this brings back memories. Looved this show back then, and gonna rewatch it again.
this anime is still one of my favorites. love that it's getting some love.
I remember watching bits and pieces of this anime on Adult Swim back in the day! I didn't really know what was going on, but it stayed in my head rent-free for so many years! I think it's high time I just binge watch this lost gem!
Now this is a blast from the past. Guess I gotta find the entire series.
NO ONE TALKS ABOUT THIS SERIES, THANK YOU FOR GOVONG CREDIT WHERE ITS DUE
One of my favorites. Criminally underrated
Ah! Someone else discovered this little gem! This was a super fun watch
This brought back so many memories, man this was very very underrated anime
Honestly I go back and watch this every few years
this show had everything and still have everything. Great story and music along with art style that just made it all the better. The cast all had something to add to the story and how it progressed even the smallest parts they played made it all come together. It had funny and heartwarming moments and all very dark and depressing moments. I still vividly remember straight cougar and what his ability did to the world and how it eventually was part of the reason he died. I remember how hard Kimishina dying hit Kazuma along with his love interest dying in his arms while it rained. With ryuho him slowly realizing what he was part of was going to kill him and him losing his father and then shrice sacrificing herself to heal him and her giving him a kiss she was longing for.
And the music my god the music for this show hit different since it wasnt the typical sounds anime has it had instruments and it had feeling in each song chosen for it. This one of the very few anime i have purchased the hard copy of the ost just because of how good it is. The opening and closing songs along with the songs included in some episodes are iconic because again not something you heard in anime back then and even now. The only anime that has even come close to having one song that is just as unique is Rakudai Kishi no Cavalry Iirc the intro outro was sung by same singer ide yasuaki. He mixed in hispanic music sound and added his own japanese flare to to make ti so damn unique that again not something you find everyday if at all
I have very fond memories of this anime from my early teen years that i still go back and watch it all the way through at least once a year and it never gets boring. I always tell people to watch anime if they want something good and that is old but still hits hard. Easily in my top 5 anime. Sadly not many people remember this show from adult swim
*me seeing the title/this vid*
Ye-YESSSSS! UGGGHHHH
This was needed.
Bro I watched this on adult swim but could never find it!!! Thank you!
You, sir, are amazing for this video. I've been bumping the Scryed OP for maybe over 20 years now?
Sir you just earned a new subscriber.
I have watch this far too many times growing up haha! One of my favorites of all time, hands down, number 1 for me.
Omg omg I never clicked an anime RUclips video so fucking fast I LOVED THIS SHOW. It’s so underrated and for a long time I thought I was the only person that knew of this anime lol 😭✊🏾❤️
I miss this anime! I loved it so much.
This takes me all the way back to my childhood. The amount of holes I've punched into walls pretending to have Shell Bullet was excessive.
Honestly this one was one of my personal favorites, glad to see one talking about it in 2024
That rivalry was the definition of "on sight"
One of the great anime of my childhood...rewatched it forvthe first time in over a decade over the pandemic
Props to anime central for bringing this show to my life.
Finally some S Cry Ed love
I don’t see nearly enough of this
This was my show, so memorable I never forgot it.
Ive been waiting for this day to come
Holy crap, I couldnt remember the name of this anime, and here it is! What a throwback
Great job Bro!
S-Cry-Ed's an anime that sticks out in my mind next to DBZ, Cowboy Bebop, and Trigun, among others. It was a formative anime for me, one I have strong memories attached to, and one that sadly seems to have gone underappreciated in my experience.
Wonderful to see the series given some coverage!
They need to continue this anime the final forms are so fking sick
Bruh, this anime was dope! No joke, I will randomly think about this anime every few years, when I think back to some of the best anime Ive watched.
Stupid underrated!!!! Great video!!!!!
I always put this up there when I’m asked what’s my top 5 anime. This show was so dope
Came across this video and was like "hold up! Somebody else remembers this anime!" Hell yes thank you good sir
I was hoping you would mention the stark contrast in their powers and how it reflects on their relationship with being an alter. One is literally part of his body, the fist he uses to enact his will as one and the other, externalized, controlled and separate from himself. I agree though underrated, it was overshadowed by many other anime during that time.
This show is criminally underrated and underviewed! And I think it's a series that deserves expanding upon. Like, we're shown that Kazuma and Straight Cougar know each other (with it being heavily implied that Cougar was Kazuma's mentor), but they never seem to acknowledge that prior relationship in the show
Cool vid. Will watch more vids from u
10/10 video for a 7/10 anime 😂 I gotta go rewatch it now and start my own rewrite. From what I remember, it's about Anarchy in the face of a society where laws meant to protect are also used as justification for personal violence.
I love this anime it's still on my top 10 anime's.
Also it's music 🎶 still gives me chills till this day.
YOOO, I totally forgot about this show . They should have done more episodes 🎉
This anime deserves this video and all of its praise. Absolutely amazing anime
Man I loved this anime as a kid
Bro, hell yeah!! About time this show gets the praise it deserves
