My grandad got this back in 1966 and never opened it… so I have the box and the lantern!
Wow! I’m jealous!
Old stuff is simply built better, made to last. Glad you value keepsakes like that!
Love mine! I started collecting so the kids would have several & wouldn't have to fight over the 200. It is arguably the most collectible one I own
Very cool idea! This one is does not belong to me but I'd love to find one or two of these for my self.
I have two green ones 1975 and 1976 just lite one tonight to show a friend how cool it looked
Very cool!
I've got six or seven. Dont remember the yrs. Some newer some older. Some working and some needing repair. Coleman stoves/lanterns have been a part of my life for 62 yrs. Childhood memories are great.
The 200a is so good that I have three!
Wow, three?! One day I'll find one of my own... One day.
200A is sweet! My fav is a trusty 242.
I have one like this, I found it on a trash pile. It works really good. It's kind of a purple color though.
Wow, very lucky find! Interesting that it's purple.
Just needs a black band…😊
Old school! Love it
As do I!
@@EmbarkWithMark amen!
Good ol 200 I've got one and I love it
I had one like that except it was green. Unfortunately at the time I had no clue how to get it to work since I was used to the propane lanterns so I gave it to my uncle and he fixed it and uses it for his hunting trips and he loves it. I’m glad it could find a good home.
اجمل فيديوا لأنه اختصر تشغيل الفانوس ، وهذا ماكنت ابحث عنه ، امتلك واحد مثله 😉وهو اعتمادي جدا
Nice! Single mantle is my favorite. Start on low so you do nothermally shock the glass globe.
Thanks for the tip! Love this little stove too!
@@EmbarkWithMark. What does that “L”-shaped lever do?
@@robertgift6762you urn the L shaped handle a few times to clean out the generator tube. It pushes a wire back and forth to clean out tube.
I’ve got one from the 1970s that needs to be sent to Coleman for repair. It turned into a fireball when I tried to light it! Other than that incident it is my favorite of all the Coleman lanterns I have
They are super cool! Not hard to repair either though some parts are getting hard to buy. Nice find!
I also have two 237 Coleman lanterns. Unfortunately, there is no head and glass ball.
Beautiful lantern, happy for you
I've found globes and top hats on ebay. Just keep an eye out they come online from time to time. Thank you!
@@EmbarkWithMark thank you
I even addded all of those twist sparker flints so i didnt need a match
FYI, I make it a habit to keep the bail handle level. It hurts picking up the lantern with a hot bail.
The bail actually gets hot in the raised position not when it's lowered. Heat rises
I just picked up a sears 74550 which is virtually a 200. Pretty much mint shape, just missing the handle!
Very cool! I love finds like that!
For a quick min i was buying white gas lanterns, stoves etc.. i have 3 220s, a 200a and, a 501 pocket stove and a 415 dual. Burner stove.. my 200a is leaky near the generator i need to show em all some love.
Had to soak the plunger and cap in cooking oil earlier to get one of my 220s going. I need to stay on top of em. That 200 sounds like a fucking rocket
Sorry for the late arrival at the party.
I’ve recently inherited the same exact lantern from my grandfather.
Sadly, the globe is cracked. Although it is fully intact, I’m worried about the safety of using it with a cracked globe.
Any thoughts or recommendations? Sadly, replacement cannot easily be found here in Canada.
I love the design (like the stove), but my mantles never survive the trails I take the lantern on
I have this same issue! I wish there was a way to prevent the mantles falling apart so easily.
I've heard peerless mantles are a lot more durable
I’ll have to look into these, thank you!
The thermonuclear lamp, clean burning fuel with zero adverse effects!
I have a Oct. 1966 200A coming in the mail it will be here today, the lantern does need a globe though, I will be posting a vid. later on tonite
How well lit or bright is it at night, can you see how to cook or read a book etc...
Absolutely! It’s bright enough to be useful at night, but you can turn it down low enough that’s not bothersome.
@@EmbarkWithMarkactually this style lantern is not adjustable. It's full on or nothing
I got one ive been slowly working on, my question is, when its lit, is an ever so slight flicker normal?
Porrr favorr ke combustible lleva??
What’s the date code on the bottom? The one I still use is 4 53
I don’t remember the first number but the second is also 53. Awesome little lanterns.
Does that mean it's from 1953 ? I got one just like it today
Red airy rel
Did you use white gas?
Of course!
What fuel does it use? How efficient is it?
It uses white gas. I'm not exactly sure, but with a full tank it will run many hours.
@@EmbarkWithMark u can also use amoco premeum gas works great.its white gas !
Question 🙋♂️ does it smell in your home from it burning? Meaning does it smell like kerosene?
I don’t light this inside my house. Outside only or in a well ventilated garage for short periods to test it.
Can someone tell what the filament is
Quiero comprar solamente el cristal con el número 550
Can you use either white gas or kerosene?
For this one. White gas is recommend. Might be able to run other fuels but it will most likely clog the generator sooner.
لدي واحد 1951 جميل وعتمادي
Do I have to replace the mantle after each use?
Nah, only when the mantle falls apart.
If you don’t knock the lanterns around the mantles will last a long time.
Got one just like this but its partially clogged from sitting any ideas? Its a 1968
It’s very easy to pull apart and clean. Just take your time and be easy. Plenty of videos from @OldTownColeman on how to do it. Once you do you’ll
Love the lantern!
@@EmbarkWithMark hey thanx for the info
Your welcome!
Wats a good way to flush rust out of the fuel tank@@EmbarkWithMark
@@mikefussell8991 I don’t really know. I’ve used the BB method where you put a few BBs in the tank and shake it around. It works.
However I was thinking about trying a product called thermocure. It’s for removing rust out of cooling systems on cars. It’s very gentle. I might give that a go and see how it works. Should be more gentle than banging BBs around inside the stove tank. 😂
Sounds and looks dangerous asf. Shelf that thing as a trophy.
Oh, don't worry, it's just my way of adding a little drama to my life. Call it ambiance with a hint of danger
What’s the fuel called
Coleman White Gas
I got a bunch of them
Very nice! I’d like to have one of my own.
@@EmbarkWithMark estate sales, flea markets.they are on eBay but are overpriced.its easy to restore them...fun too
For sure! Prices are a bit crazy on eBay. Yard sales are my go to. 🤞
Es a keroceno?
Por favor algien ke diga si es a keroceno? O a nafta
This one is white gas, which is a very refined version of gasoline. It will burn gasoline, but you will have to clean the generator and a few other parts a lot more often.

You didn't use coleman fuel so technically it does not count.. :)
It’s the same as far as I know.
I want to buy it 🙂
