I've never been a fan of the "Rom-Com", because I've found most of them to be a bit dull and cliche. But when I was 17, my mother decided i was old enough to see When Harry Met Sally, and she just made me watch it. The ending made me cry, because I know that love is real and it means something you can't understand until you've felt it. Sally says she hates him, and you can only truly love someone when everything bad about them makes your life better. Whomever reads this; I hope you find love, and that you can share it.
First I wanted to tell you off because not everyone gets to experience it in real life, but come to think of it I'm at least glad someone gets to know what it feels.
It's just so genuine the way they gaze at each other after they kiss. And then he immediately goes off on a tangent about the song that's playing. That's just too real 😂
I’ve always thought of it as a reference to the ending of the Graduate, the whole “now what” thing. When the big romantic moment is over, what’s it going to be like? To me this ending is almost answering that - their day to day banter when the honeymoon period has worn off
@rohunsaigal2576 The Graduate does so more ironically as to hint at the reality of what they just did. As they sit in silence they realize they have no plan, no future, and made a massive mistake
I love how Harry's face subtly shifts right after she says, "...and you make it impossible for me to hate you!" Like he just realized the complicated emotions she's having and knows to give her a moment.
This is one of those movies that’s so iconic that it becomes a cliche that every movie after follows its formula. And everyone tells you that you should hate it, and you say you do hate it for a long time. Then you watch it on a rainy Sunday afternoon because why not, and you realize that it’s actually brilliant. And then you see a friend a couple days later and say, “you know what’s a really good movie…”
No, I've never said I hated this movie, because I knew it was good and original even when I was a little kid (it came out in what, 89 or something?) Other romcoms suck that came after it.
It’s great how - even after they confess their love for each other - they launch into one of their typical debates. It indicates that they will always have the same warm, fun banter between them, no matter what. That will always be their special thing. Becoming a couple hasn’t completely upended and changed their dynamic. It’s still the same because the connection has always been there. Beautiful writing.
When I saw this movie for the first time, i was a teen. Obviously I loved. It but I was too logical to think this is what real life looks like.... Until, years later, when I fell for a guy... And it really is like that! We met on a blind date that we went on only to make our friends shut up and ended up getting engaged six months later and married a year after that. We've been married for 8 years now... And i love the fact that no one ever proposed to anyone... We just realised mid conversation one day that we were talking about raising kids... And that was it! We knew we were getting married! And that friendship truly is the foundation of a great relationship. Yes, we love each other but we are also each other's best friends! Also, the banter is the best part of it!
@@justinhamilton8647 I'll be honest, there are days when I wake up and still feel stunned at what we've got. Ngl, there are tough days and fights too but overall, it's been an amazing decade of being together!

Meg Ryan really should have been at least nominated for this role. She displayed so many emotions, she cried, she was funny, she was adorable, she had chemistry with Billy Crystal. She really did it all in this movie.
I love how they don’t kiss or realize their love for each other during the New Year’s countdown in the background. This scene is so beautiful and it never fails to make me cry.
I love how Billy Crystal dips and head and smirks at the end when they are discussing the chocolate sauce on the side. He just laughs knowingly and acceptingly of her quirks. :)
I've always said the this movie is the quintessential romantic comedy. It showcases a genuine building of a friendship into lovers. Realistically, all romantic relationships should be built this way but they aren't. The idea of love had to come from somewhere and this movie definitely sums it up. This movie has always given me hope in finding true love
"You see? That is just like you Harry! You say things like that and you make it impossible for me to hate you, and I hate you Harry. I hate you, I hate you." I love how beautifully she delivers this line. This is an absolutely beautiful movie and the script and cast show it. I love this movie and I will enjoy it every Holiday Season and Valentine's Day.
Yes, exactly. I thought I was overanalysing the whole scene. She mentally preps herself for the encounter and puts up her game face. Good to know I am not alone in noticing it.

The subtle facial expressions and timing throughout this scene takes it over the top for me. One of the most satisfying endings to a movie of this kind for me.
The interview at the end is so natural and real for a couple; the cutting in, him talking like it’s a well known fact the sauce needs to be on the side when really that’s just how SHE likes it. That’s real love. Perfect movie
I remembered watching this movie and I kept getting distracted because I knew I knew Harry from somewhere. It wasn't until the "when you realize you wanna spend the rest of your life with someone" line at the emotional climax at the film when I jumped up in excitement and put together that it was the voice of Mike Wazowski
When the voice of Sinatra starts singing and we see Billy walking then running down the street I get thrills every single time....Meg Ryan's face at 2:50 when she listens to his speech is so funny as it changes from love to exasperation at him....one of my favorite endings to a film. ❤️
At that point, it didn’t matter what she said because if you turned the audio off, you can see it clearly on her face. She’s fallen in love and wants to be with him. Her face says it all ❤️❤️

it's my first time watching this today and I cannot believe I slept on this masterpiece for a long time.. this is easily one of my favorites. I've seen this movie at least a dozen times & I still find it sweet & charming (in spite of the fact that I'm not a huge fan of romcoms). As someone who gets cold when it's 71° out, takes an hour & a half to order a sandwich & prefers chocolate sauce on the side (to keep the coconut from getting soggy), it's extra sweet to see there's someone for everyone...
"When you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with someone you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible." What a line.

A true classic Romcom
I’ve seen plenty of good ones over the years. And yet I haven’t seen this one until earlier this year
I love this kid so much. I don’t know what will happen between him and I but this, this right here makes me just... feel at ease.
Kid
This is a movie about 2 grown adults in their very late 20s or early 30s.
Sorry to break it to you but 99% of teenage dream relationships do not last- although what you’re feeling right now is real, you’ll laugh and reminisce on it many years from now :)
I love someone and this movie make me love her even more but feeling sad because i cannot have a ending like the one from the movie
The is the best line in a rom com of all time. I think it is because it’s raw and so real.
Best ending to any movie ever. No question
Such a good film
One of the most iconic love scenes in cinematic history.
Dont watch this on amazon. The original music is MISSING. Killing this last scene
Which is the original song? :(
Kills the whole film. I cant watch it. Where do we find the original?
Imagine kissing Meg Ryan. Wow!
Now here again for 2021-2022 😕
2022-2023
Thankful that We’ve watched this movie
I've seen this movie at least a dozen times & I still find it sweet & charming (in spite of the fact that I'm not a huge fan of romcoms). As someone who gets cold when it's 71° out, takes an hour & a half to order a sandwich & prefers chocolate sauce on the side (to keep the coconut from getting soggy), it's extra sweet to see there's someone for everyone...
amazing clip!
i used that line to get my wife. It worked just fine, and she's never seeing this movie 😂
Literally watched this movie the night before midnight struck for 2022
I watched the movie yesterday to get ready for tonight
