I remember seeing this as a young kid, at like 7 or 8. I was watching the camera pan back from the final scene and i liked the music and shots of clouds in the sky, so i kept watching. Shortly after that when EVH starts playing i was hypnotized by the sound of this song, its all such a great composition. By the end of the song and credits i didnt even know what to do, i just sat there and tried to take it in what i had just heard. It completely blew my mind.
When my daughter was young. I took her to this movie 🎬 Sat her in the FRONT ROW..then told her when you hear thunder in the distance...ITS TIME TO COME INSIDE! ESPECIALLY IN TEXAS!!
I know me as well. That’s what this scene of the movie is supposed to do to you. Imagine tripping on acid while listening to this song and seeing those clouds move. Trippiness.

This dvd is at our family camp and we watch it every time we’re here and the dvd keeps replaying itself through the night and I always seem to wake up at the end credits and feel a sort of nostalgia from a memory I never experienced
I'll never forget when spotters and chasers on spotter network created the BP on spotter network. one of my favorite movies of all time became famous once again, so sad to see him and Philip Seymore Hoffman gone now
I have no idea what genre to call this number, and have never found another piece that has a similar sound and vibe. As far as I can tell, it's a very special one-of-a-kind jam.
That first low note bend at 1:40 always gives me chills. I picture a nasty grungy dark looking tornado in my mind like it’s coming for you. If a tornado could sing that’s what it would sound like
I see comments here, like it's haunting, funeral song, all different feeling that this brings about in people. This song hit me very deep when I first heard it, when tho movie first came out! I felt this song should be played louder than any song can ever be played! WIND! Respect the WIND! I have survived 2 hurricanes, and that noise is deafening when it is all around you, this song should be played like that! Deafening, if our ears could even take it as loud as it should be played... A guy at work once asked a bunch of us, "if you had a theme song, what would it be?" While others were saying this, no that, oh, I got it, etc, I said straight out, Respect the Wind. He never heard of it, he googled it, listened to it, on his phone, and he loved it. I told him, "now, go home and play it on your system as loud as you possibly can.....that is my theme song". He discovered what I was talking about!
I always liked this version due to the specific chords used, the rambling, kind of exploratory tone of most of it, plus the occasional pauses and individual plucking of the strings. It made me feel like I was standing in the middle of a field (I live in the eastern plains) and watching the waving corn or soy or wheat and nearby a storm was casting dark shadows on the land and the ominous sky hinted it might drop a tornado just for me. It was a dark, contemplative song that I absolutely loved.
@@F5Storm1 Can you believe that Tim & Paul Samaras (plus the other fellow) are the only storm chasers this far to have actually perished right during a tornado chase? 😢 It's really quite remarkable, albeit in a sad way...
Also, Godspeed to: * Bill "The Extreme" Paxton (Bill Harding) * Philip Seymour Hoffman (Dusty Davies) * Eddie Van Halen (who performed on "Humans Being" & this magical instrumental end-credits piece!)
This was such a magnificent track... I wish It had been like some other rare bits of music by Eddie Van Halen on a CD.... R.I.P. Edward Van Halen, one of the greatest guitar players
The greatest in my opinion, he made the guitar cry and laugh with such ease, CHIMO! 2nd Canadian Division 34 Combat Engineer Regiment 2012 at 19 years old then. I salute you EVH
I've always wanted this to be played at my funeral. There are parts of this song that seemingly expose Eddie's soul as almost being tortured through his playing. I can't stop listening to it now that my beloved EVH is gone. 😭😭😭😭
You know, with all Respect to the most mesmerizing Wind song ever... this version is a bit longer and a bit more hypnotizing that the DVD version. You have to listen close though. This it the best one.
Always preferred this version over the shorter version. Little did Ed know when he played this that dark times were heading for him. But he survived. RIP Bill Paxton.
@randall scott burress It was honestly one of those early life moments that shaped my musical tastes now. Hell, this whole movie was. VH's Respect The Wind & Humans Being,Clapton's Motherless Child, & this. Metallica's I disappear on the MI:2 OST was the icing on the cake. The one that truly turned me into a Metalhead. Blew my 10 year old mind.
Such an Amazing collection of Talent in this film. 2 future Academy Award winners and the Initial force behind Titanic. Not to mention an Outstanding soundtrack spearheaded by none other than Legendary Van Halen!!! AWESOME!🥂 RIP Bill, Philip, And Eddie!!❤🙏
Came here to say I just found this song by watching the end credits then this stated playing and it haunted me to all hell, like I went in a trance, like I was all alone out in a field, but it keeps going deeper way deeper and you feel alone on the planet, I cant believe how empty this song makes me feel, its beautiful, especially with the Twister scenery visuals, messed up now, for the rest of the day, for life . . .

I love Respect The Wind! Eddie did a masterpiece here, along with many others! He had a way of making that guitar obey his every command! Hard to imagine if he and Alex stayed with their original plan where Eddie was the drummer and Alex on guitar!? It became painfully obvious, Alex said, that Eddie was better on the guitar than he was, so they switched! Brotherly love right there! And the rest is history! ✌😎🎸🎶💝
The artwork for the cover of this movie is pretty breath-taking, at least to me. Showing the destructive nature of the tornado with the black and the beauty of nature with the sunlight in the back.
