In the very early 70s my brother n l used to watch the trains at Grangetown and South Bank. It was busy with such a variety of locos, 08, 25, 31, 37, 40, 45 and 47 in addition to the Sentinal shunters busy in the steel works. Also Metro Camel, Craven, Derby and occasional Birmingham RCW DMUs worked the Darlington to Saltburn trains. Don't know what it is like now. Great video, thanks for posting it.

@wiggydj100 The 70s were a great era for big diesels I fear you would not recognise the place today and you certainly would struggle to see the variety experienced in the 70s.
    Thanks for taking a look.

these trains used to go past my parents house every day, we lived right on the viaduct between blackhall and horden, on the blackhall side. the house would shake as they went past, as the rails were at most 15 metres from our house. also remember the weekly oil train normally pulled by a class 60, and the nuclear flasks pulled by a pair of 31s..

looks like 60038 is on the Hardendale limestone train. There was 2 different styles of hoppers. The other ones were open type. usually a 60 would haul both at once. was quite a length!

Nice shots. I think 60038 is hauling lime wagons, they look white stained at the top. Stu

British industry, with British loco's. Before R.J.Budge and GM diesels ruined it all :(
