From my understanding, when you're done, you should run your solvent through it for a minute to clean out the hose etc. Then put some pump armor in, run that till it comes out the sprayer. Then store it.
Next time you use it, spray your product into a trash can or something until you're confident that all the pump armor is out of hose and only paint is coming out. This should prevent the chunks you experienced.

It all depends on your product. Since this is water-based, I would first clean it with water and then mineral spirits to prevent rust. This pump has no gum filter. All it has is a screen in the canister. So it's critical to screen your product like a hvlp. Since owning this, I've used it about 3-4 times per week. I mostly use it to finish tables or small projects in the paint booth. It's been a great machine this whole time and prefer it over my hvlp turbine. It's just critical to clean, clean, and clean some more after each use and strain your product well. For anything sizeable, I'm always using my large graco 490

Yeah I really like this sprayer. I've done one kitchen and sever gallons of water based 2k lacquer on some tables. Prior I was using a titan hvlp. I'm much happier with the quick shot and never use our hvlp anymore. I still use our airless sprayer if I'm doing an entire house.
