  • In this video, I will explain the anatomical structures of female genital system including vagina, uterus (fundus, body, cervix, perimetrium, myometrium, endometrium, compact layer, functional layer, basal layer, uterine cavity, internal os, cervical canal, external os), fallopian/uterine tubes (infundibulum, fimbriae, ampulla, isthmus), ovaries, and the external genitalia/vulva (mons pubis, labia majora, labia minora, clitoris, glans clitoris, prepuce of clitoris, vestibule). Also, I will explain some of the supporting structures such as broad ligament, uterosacral ligament, round ligament, adipose tissue, etc. I will elaborate on uterine retroflexion and uterine prolapse (first degree, second degree, and third degree), the possible causes and available treatment plans. I will define the process of ovulation and the factors that help fertilization of oocyte to occur in the ampulla of fallopian tube and decrease the risk of ectopic pregnancy. I will refer to the preferred location in the wall of uterus for implantation of blastocyte. Also, when explaining the fornix, which is the indentation between cervix and vagina, I will describe the correct placement of a contraceptive diaphragm.
