Thank you to that one guy working in the washing machine industry who decided: "Hmm Schubert would be perfect".
It's because of him that many of us are gathered here today
What does this mean?
@@poopadoopalisThis means that the man who helps the pianist with notes is dressed absolutely improperly. He looks like the main item in this universe.
Some Korean bloke is probably dining out on that as we speak and, you know what? Fair play to him.
@@LuminalSpoon What!?
Also inappopriate are women dressed as men. Unless, of course, they are playing George Sand.
At around 24:10 everyone suddenly feels compelled to get up and check their laundry...
hahaha 😂
Thanks, I was about to have to sit through 24 minutes to find this.
Actually, that's an instruction Schubert wrote into the score to keep the quintet on its toes and comfortably in its shorts.
In 1985 inFranckfurt⁹ I saw aLP record at a pavement shop but not sure it was the Trout. The salesman then gestured a FISH. I bought it immediately. Lovely music.
The double bass serves as the foundation of the quintet. Adds this sort of richness and vibrancy to the piece!
My husband introduced me to The Trout Quintett 50 years ago and it is still one of my favorites as is he! Wonderful rendition!!! Bravo! Bravo!
How sad it is that both Mozart and Schubert died at an early age. One can only imagine what masterpieces the world missed. Also, given the instruments, talent, and technology we have today, these fine composers would go wild and the notes would flow and flow and flow.
+David Rosenberg: How can you say this.He did his best work at this early stage. You die when you are called away
Schubert's late works were great too like his 8th and 9th symphonies
Mike Brooke: Easy to say. It all depends on the composer. Look at Beethoven. He wrote some of his best music in his later years AND after he had gone completely deaf. If a composer, even though deaf in his late years, can still write great masterpieces, then surely he is a great composer. -- If Sxhubert had lived longer, who knows what great works he could have written. As for Mozart, he started life as a child prodigy, prodded along by his father. Mozart was constantly writing, tutoring and performing, and he basically burned himself out.
I agree! Perhaps they would have produced no more.
You take what you can get. And enjoy what you can.
I'm here from Twoset Violin and just learned that the 4th movement is the original music to a Alice Tegner children's song about spring (Den första lärkan)!
It's also the theme music for the British comedy Waiting for God.
IMO the greatest piece of chamber music ever composed.
The Schumann Piano Quintet Op 44 comes close, as does the Mendelssohn Octet
Agree, closely followed by Haydn’s “Emperor” both glorious.
It is among the most pleasing. Schubert's String Quintet is significantly "greater" however, pardon my pedantry but it's true.
@@galahadthreepwood i gotta check those out! I myself love schuberts octet
@derekbd Let's rephrase it. If you ask 10,000 people who have listened to 10,000 hours of classical music with attention, 9,924 will agree that Schubert's String Quintet is a greater work than Boccherini's String Quintet op 10.
Schubert's Piano Quintet is so perfect that it surpasses any comment that an objective classical music listener can attempt to make. Excellent playing by the Ensemble.
How right you are.
What can you say about this piece? I grew up listening to it on 78's, and it's still wonderful.
Very true. Schubert was terribly underrated at his time and I feel even today, on some occasions he goes unnoticed. You can't deny that he was a musical genius.
I think this is my favourite piece of music in the whole world, it brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it, its sheer beauty and completeness moves me like no other.
It's definitely my favorite piece of chamber music; it absolutely sparkles!
I LOVE his octet in f! Especially the 4th movement
Thank you for the privilege of this audition. Bravo to all of you.
My mom Angelike introduced me to this song when I was but a child I loved it then as I do now and it brings back nice memories. thank you.
Probably Franz Schubert's most popular and hypnotic piece, The Trout Quintet D.667 Opus 114, played exceptionally well - jauntily and melodiously by the Das Forellen.
" *das forellen* quintett " is the name of the piece in german, not the name of the ensemble
Crisp and passionate. Each instrument was equally strong. I loved it.
YOU DON'T KNOW HOW GOOD SCHUBERT MUSIC ARE SO BEAUTIFUL
IF HE HEARD THIS PERFORMANCE HE WILL FEEL LIKE A DIEING TROUT
One of my all time fav's!
A classical music library without the Trout Quintet is like a starry night blocked by cloud cover. This selection is exemplary in every way.
mesaman Check out the Trout by. Barenboim, du Pre, Perlman, etc. It is many years ago now but the photography & sound cannot be equaled.
Well put.
A wonderful rendition of a timeless classic. Thanks.
Excellent performance, wonderful acoustics... one feels one is at the edge of the clattering stream watching the frolicking trout! Bravo!
How cool that this has received nearly 1.3 million views.
A brilliant piece of music elegantly performed!
Can you imagine being with Schubert as he wrote the Trout? This is a wonderful recording. You must see it, too believe the beauty and watch the musicians. Listening is not enough. Viva Schubert.

Such a refreshing and clean performance. The melody just keeps revolving in my mind
I love Schubert is just wonderful
Well said David Rosenberg. The trout , Is a test to the profiency of the musicians and from there mighty tunes grow!, thank you Franz.
I've been listening to this on a recently purchased vinyl record. Love it!
My washing machine plays this whenever it finishes a cycle. We called the machine Schubert
non ci credo, che marca è? I don't thinks that is true. which house built the machine? Thanks. Ciao.
I'm sure there are washing machines that can do this... it's 2016!
Mine too . Is it a Samsung?

Wonderful performance. Virtuoso tempi. Love the exuberance.
Love the interaction between the cello and bass players.

Schubert wrote a winner with this one. It seems everyone wants to play it ! and why not? It is a great piano piece not forgetting the input of the other four! so well done on a great performance.
schubert wrote a lot of winners...

As a non-German-speaking audience, Schubert's songs are mostly unpleasant for me to listen to. On the contrary, I am a big fan of his instrumental music. Thank you for sharing this quintet!
I am always going to love this score of music. Is just sublime. Great performance as well.
THIS PERFORMANCE IS SO LOW LEVEL WORSE THAN HIGH SCHOOL KIDS NOT MUSICAL AT ALL
NO WONDER WHY FEWER PEOPLE LIKE CLASICAL MUSIC
Las he oído mejores. ¿Quiénes son los intérpretes?
De Aquerdo Yo!
As marvelous a composer as Schubert was, he must have been touched by especial grace when he composed this.
The main theme of the 4th movement at 24:00 plays on my dishwasher when it completes it's cycle.
Good recording room, wood floor for more warm vibes and solid walls with anti echo foam.
This is phenomenal music making. Simply amazing!
An exceptionally engaging performance, and exceptionally well recorded.
I keep coming back to this work as Schubert's best.
Ya, Death and the Maiden does it for me..gold for all
@@waraylitz1614 I should have said I keep coming back to this wonderful rendition as well.
Wonderfully played - 'The Trout' one of my favourites ever. Brilliant rendition!
This piece has the clarity and playful flow of a beautiful mountain stream.
How sad that it ended, could have listened to it forever! Beautifully performed! Thank you.
REALLY BAD PERFORMANCE LOUSY MUSICIANS
A brilliant rendition of Schubert's famous 'Trout Quintet'.
Excellent! Excellent!! Excellent!!
Alone at home, reading, finishing a painting or portrait drawing...the "Trout Quintet" playing in the background...truly inspired by such an inspired work as this.
Hermosa obra ...!!! y excelente conjunto.
Note the electronic mixing board in the back - Usually a rock and roll staple. Perhaps that's why they sound so good. It's a great piece to begin with.
I could listen to them all day . Such tasteful tempi. And bite ,accent. Rubato. The sheer simplicity of the theme seems to open up vast opportunities for FS s invention . Endless.
Exelant! Bravo! Spirit improvising, it's Fantastic!
This beautiful music brightens my day today.
This was a favorite piece of my grandfather's and so was part of my childhood. I heard part of it on NPR/VPR tonight as I was driving, and had to hear it again. Unfortunately, the sound comes and goes on this beautiful performance.

Wunderbar !!! Ich gratuliere euch!!!
Great! What sonority and spirit! Schubert would have loved this!
Just love the fourth movement.
What a nice play!

Danke 🙏 ich komme zu mir selbst
Just sublime, I love the development of the 1st Movement.
Thank you for this wonderful performance of one of my very favorite chamber works. Since first hearing the Trout, I've always thought that every quintet should include a double bass.

agreed i think some brahms would be glorious with bass
Bravo
You literally imagine the trout swimming and springing in the vivid creek
24:00 this comes in the top-end Samsung washing machines instead of the chime.
This performance of one of my all-time favorite pieces matches any I've ever heard. Bravo! Brava!
Thank you for sharing. This one sounds just perfect.
First time ever heard every note of the piano, beautiful.
This is what my washing machine plays when it is complete! The jaunty refrain from 30:20! It has lead me here to witness the piece in all it's splendour. Fantastic!
I'm glad you pointed that out about the washing machine before I went to hear this live. I would have been laughing in the concert hall if I hadn't known it was coming.
Rob Eggleshaw
Rob Eggleshaw ironically enough I would whistle this as I finish washing my clothes by hand as well, long before Samsung accomplished this
Beyond words.
What a stunning interpretation and recording. Absolutely love this.
Excellent performance!
Have been listening over an over now,,,thank you!!! Also love to listen to your icelandish in the end : )
This is a lovely live performance, I really enjoyed it!
Wonderful performance! the tempi were a little faster than usual but they worked very well, with crisp phrasing, energy and uplift. Thank you for making this available.
Absolutely beautiful and brilliant. Bravo!
It,s an excellant performance! Thank you very much for uploading it. Schubert is one of my favourite composer. His short, tragical life gave so much beautiful experiences to he mankind .
Absolutamente ESPETACULAR !!!! Essa "conversa " entre as cordas é maravilhosa. Instrumentistas perfeitos 👏👏👏🤩🤩🤩😊
This is Heaven!! Thank God for making Schubert and every one of you! Since history, there’s few stuff can be called PERFECT - but this is absolutely one! Thank you sooooo much for sharing!
Amazing performance.
I like the pace. Tempo easy. Not hurried to fit an LP
The way Schubert wrote for chamber piano was ingenius with those double octaves that make you want even more.
Always a wonderful Quintet "The Trout". Can inspire every time I hear it. In this performance a bit of age and experience it appears. So good. Would love to see more of the pianist but understand musically and technically difficult. Meanwhile I dream on and listen.
Lovely! 🙂 They play so lively.
Bravo! Great performance!
