Thank you for your generosity Rob. You are awesome! What you did is absolutely amazing, and it is not only appreciated by Michael but by myself as well. Thank you so much! Nerdmasté!
I haven't seen a Moray since I was 9 years old. My brother and I would wage huge battles, he with his jam packed Moray and me with my small squad of skystrikers ( I had 4 of them thanks to repeat gifts). Man, this brought a smile to an old soldiers face, and I'm sure my brother would have loved to see his favorite toy again. Thanks Mike, and Rob. Seriously, this was an awesome trip down memory lane.
Definitely my favorite Cobra vehicle from the 1985 line. Thank you Rob for making this amazing review possible! That Moray even has the pesky spotlight lense that always seems to have disappeared during a battle with GI Joe! Thank you Lou for providing the figures to make this review complete. I still have my Moray from when I was a kid so I know what an awesome addition this made to your 80's toy museum Michael. Absolutely amazing that Rob had an extra and gave it to you. Nice to be reminded that there are good people out there still. This channel reminds me of that all the time. It's just one of the many reasons why I adore it, and it's creator. Thank you for the phenomenal review of one of the most special Cobra vehicles ever made Michael. You truly make my childhood come alive every time you turn on your camera and start to record video. I hope you have an amazing Sunday my brother, and may your week ahead be free of 'slithering snakes'. Yo Joe!!
Thanks Scott! Luckily repro lenses for the spotlight are available, along with lenses/headlights for other vehicles. Just googling "repro" and the part you need will bring up some options. People like Rob and yourself fuel my passion for doing these videos. I've made such amazing friends through playing with these vintage toys...it's amazing how history repeats, just like on the playground in the 80's. Have a great week good brother! Yo Joe! :D
Thank you Rob! And thanks to Lou as well for giving Michael the hook ups for this amazing video! I was lucky enough to have the Moray as a kid and it's easily one of the best vehicles in the entire line! Yo Joe!
I have some loose joes and cobra and two joe die cast cars, my dad and brother have joes and cobra too, and I love your G.I.Joe collection it shows things that I didn't know existed and you inspired me to get a big joe collection like yours.
I bought the Cobra Hydrofoil back in January 2018. A good review on a classic Cobra vehicle! It came complete too! I am going to look on eBay again for another one that is complete one day! Thank you Michael for this review of the 1985 Cobra Hydrofoil!!!
What always made me giggle was the fact the animators kept the tab on the back that operated the toy's hydrofoils. First tiem I've seen one with the lense in the spotlight, thanks for sharing and making it so entertaining!
Rob did something here that brought back the best memories of collecting and playing Gijoe with friends and family. Namely giving and sharing something I owned with others that needed it. And in turn receiving a toy that I was looking for. I can look at my collection and say quick kick came from Brian and copperhead from my brother. This is what the 80’s were all about to me. Kindness!!!! So happy to see this video. Keep them coming Michael Mercy!!!! 😁
Well said, Kevin! The incredible response I've received from these videos reminds me of my childhood, how easy it was to become friends and do something nice for others. Glad these old toys still have that old magic in them to bring people together. :D
An older friend of mine actually got TWO of these for Christmas, and as he sort of aged out of Joes, he gave one to me...along with Two Lamprey pilots. I think one of the Morays ended up being an "experiment" of sorts with about six M-80 firecrackers, and I don't think his dad was very happy about it. This thing was EPIC, and had infinite play value. Great Video! Loved the Drednoks taking one out for a cruise, naturally with Thrasher at the wheel!
What a beauty Michael! No doubt you're really happy with this gift, Enjoy it! Great review as always. I loved the special effects and editing. Dreadnoks look really nice on it...
One of the few vehicles I didn't have. (We were spoiled) My buddy had it and still does! Very cool and you really gave the imagination life with the effects. Nice job!
I had a flashback getting this at a McDades department store (for you Chicago peeps) in '85. We had just went to a Sears outlet store and a got a snare drum for school band practice - what a day! It must've been on a Sunday because I *faked* a stomach illness to mom the next day for school. Stayed home and played w/ that Moray the majority of the day in my room. However, I was relegated to eating soup and drinking 7-up all day since I was "sick". Memories...
Wow, what a great gift! Testament to the kind of people that value what you do. The Moray is hands down my favourite Joe/Cobra watercraft. Such a great design.
Awesome story and awesome gift Michael you're very lucky. Actually we're all very lucky cuz we all share the same great hobby, I just feel sorry for the people that don't get it.
I love how you had Big Boa displayed in the morey boat. He was one of my favorites as a kid. The dreadknocks and the Twins were some of my first cobra figures besides Destro and Cobra commander. I was lopsided with Joes until one birthday when I asked my parents for Cobra figures and got a whole supply of them. I did not have this boat, but I had the moccasin and the driver was badass looking, too. I played with it outdoors quite a bit and almost lost it once in a creek. Your videos bring back such wonderful memories I thought I could never muster back up. Thank you so much.
I didn’t think I’d ever buy a moray. Last week I was in a local vintage toy store letting my 5yo pick out a joe figure and there was a VERY nice 2005 Joe hydrofoil for $19. It was missing the missiles from the missile box and the gun from the turret. My boys have 8-9 vintage era boats and a tac-battle platform. I can’t wait until summer to get in the water with them with the new big daddy boat.
Well that's pretty cool. I bet he really likes seeing his toy in the video where it can be enjoyed by lots of people. This was one of my favorite Joe toys as a kid. They really did a great job with the vehicles of this era.
When I got the Moray in Christmas of 85 I was fortunate enough to have a W.H.A.L.E. from Christmas of 84 on hand and ready to do combat. Ohh the battles of Dec 25th 1985 were intense and historic haha. Two of the best vehicles across all toy lines EVER produced. As always, fantastic review Michael. NERDMASTE!!
nice! i still have my original one, which i gave my sons. it's such a skeleton of it's former self that it's amazing to see your fully equipped version. thanks! (i also love that you still play with your toys)
even the pilot name is perfectly suit the vehicle. lamprey is an eel like fish with rows and rows of teeth if I'm not mistaken 😁 great review as always
Great video! Thanks Michael and Rob! I was just cleaning up my own childhood hydrofoil last week. I recall that the missile compartment in the bow would often come unhinged from its inner workings and was frustrating for my 10 year old brain. Michael - your channel absolutely rocks!
Thanks for sharing this, you have an amazing friend. When I received mine for Christmas, I couldn't stop looking at it! Now it has a place of honor in my toy room Awesome just can't begin to cover it. Rob you are a true gentleman!
Probably my all time favorite G.I.Joe toy, loved this as a kid and it's still awesome. The black hull Cobras would make awesome tattoos, maybe on the inner wrist of each arm!
I'm glad you got a Moray and it's one of the coolest Cobra vehicles for sure. I was lucky enough to get mine when the one vintage toy store closed. It's 95 percent complete and I am okay with that and I love it.
I received the Moray as a christmas present, as a kid. I had a blast with the hydrofoil feature. My mom took me with her when see attended night college classes. There's a large fountain that had ground level platforms to walk across and 8 inch gaps between the platforms. Some areas were more open. That's were I got the most use of the hydrofoil. Never will forget the fun.
The Morey was one Christmas must have gift. Some story about how it was the last one in our area. My Mom told me that the biggest box under the tree was a baby doll. I activated the hydrofoils in the snow. If you removed the mechanism, they tracked really good in the snow. But sank quickly in the water.
I just got mine. Always wanted one. Straight from a owner in Massachusetts. Washed it put some armour oil shine on it.. bought 25th anniversary eels. Bam. Going on display on a class shelve in the near future after I finish playing with it. :) Some vechicles I just loved HISS, Rattler Hydrafoil. Land, air and sea. That's all I needed.
CONGRADULATIONS! Nothing like completing a gap in a collection. Looks like you had a ball with the special effects on this entry. Great choice for the audio of the DREADNOKS "engaging in weighty philosophical debate." Keep up the fun work!✌
Never had one of these as a kid. Hoping to acquire one and crew it with 25th Anniversary Cobras. I'm thinking the modern Lamprey, at least two Eels... and definitely a 25th Anniversary Baroness in the scuba suit (from the MASS Device DVD set) in command of the vessel.

I love this review and the shooting effects that you put in the video. It's is so totally awesome. I will definitely get one complete Cobra Hydrofoil (Moray) for myself one day. Thank you for the great video review, thumbs up and keep up the good work.

Thanks Rob! Your knarly i wanted to see a review on one of these. Thanks to you i could!
awesome stuff Rob. the Moray is one my favs too . though I kitted mine out with the Modern era guys as I never had the original as a kid.

I had this when I was a kid, but I'd forgotten a lot of details until now. But one thing I never forgot was just how cool this whole thing was.
Thanks for the blast to the past . What a great video . Made this 41 yr old feel like a kid again .

Wow, where is all that passion in today's toys? Kids today are really missing out.
I was lucky for having a rich older cousin. My auntie used to give all his toys to me. This one was my favourite. I had it in 94.
Nice - all my old joes are falling apart - the rubber band that held their legs in the waist are dry rotted- when I pick one up their legs fall off.
So many childhood feels right now.
