Polish.
@@MichaelGarland the polish , polish shoes very well.
Most people wear sneakers these days. You ain't gonna put nugget on my sneakers.
Also for anyone who was curious one booth he said with the break down of hour, customer and all of that would be making 163,072 a year per booth if it did the 7 customer a hour on a 16 hr day for a full year
take into account, the cost of the pitch and to set it up, insurance, labour to run it(including pension, holiday pay etc.), cost of electric, upkeep of the booth, admin costs, a manager to oversee booths etc. It's not going to make that much.
Shoe shine business has an element of glamour to it
Should install them at the horse and carriage station
"Ronan's having no trouble reeling out his figures now."
That is because James asked clear questions- unlike Deborah.
You can even listen to the long wave and put a record on while you wait.
Before I go to an airport , I make sure my shoes are squeaky clean and shiny at home.
How can ones shoes get dirty en route to an airport ?
Some business people do travel around and stay at hotels for transit.
Loool they have these sort of things in terminal 2 Heathrow. No one uses it, I dont understand how it makes money.
Personally, that’s where I buy my drugs. 🙋
@@alandbs329 you work on one of the shoe shines? Loooool
This would be perfect for Touker Solleyman :)
If I was shining a millionaires shoes, I'd tell him I was broke too, pregnant gf, sick dog, the works!
Exactly! You‘re never boasting in front of the customers how much money your are making from them.
The world is and still getting much more casual. Dead duck before it starts.
guess covid, lock downs, social distance wiped him out...
I also assume the world also has changed in terms of class system. People shine their own shoes if they need their shoes shined.
It’s like how people used to have others fuel up cars.
People now do things themselves. Especially simpler things like shining shoes. Sure it may not be the standard a trained shiner could but good enough.
00:28 I swear I thought he was sitting on a toilet.
Peter Jones was equally disturbed for a moment there :)
You can't have a million pound valuation for a business with no revenue. That's crazy.
you can, but only when there's sufficient value in protectable intellectual property. obviously doesn't apply here.
FYI - Duncan has a friend who does shoe shine in Heathrow airport who barely makes a living
Get right pitch and you can make a very good living. The city is good. Same in US.
Yeah, I watched the same video too.
By friend he means the person where he goes to get his shoes shined when he's at Heathrow.
winnkey Yes Winnkey that is what I said.
aye, Duncan haggles him down to £1.50
7:36 Peter jones made me cackle " what does he make? 😐" 🤣
James 'Everyone Is Out So I'm In' Caan.
I never thought that someone can do this cleaning as a job.
Absolutely no one:
Peter Jones: wHaT dOeS hE mAAAAAAAAkE
@Kyle Webber Thank you for your feedback. Much appreciated 🙏
@@JamesHendersonVideo I thought It was funny James, brilliant work!
That pitch took the shine off it for me
Duncan and James are very patient & have people skills and i like that they gives every entrepreneur a chance . As annoying as he was Duncan stays put . If it was peter or Deborah or Theo They would have been very rude to him about his talking
That would have gone bust especially with empty airports nowadays
7 an hour and 0 an hour during covid.
Or, buy a tub of shoe polish and do it yourself
James Khan is easily one of the best dragons to have been on
I think in this day and age most people would feel uncomfortable to let a person kneel in front of them to shine their shoes. That said, they were rather harsh and unreasonable to this guy.
aye
Throwing a pitch while having your shoe shined is actually pretty based
4:47 - What is Duncan doing!? Little excited about the business opportunity? (Look at his right arm).
