Both of my cats came from The Cat House on the Kings. It’s an amazing place with the kindest, most hard working staff and volunteers. It’s off the beaten path and down a one lane dirt road.. and then the most gorgeous views and SO MANY cats!
Good thing you rescued them from that terrible place before they were killed. It's so bad there now, they have an employee who abused cats to the point they lost limbs. But they keep him there. Even gave him a raise.

Please go online and investigate this sanctuary. When surrendering your cat it costs $5,000 per cat . She will ALLOW you to make payments monthly. When donating to any charity please do your homework. Know where your money goes.

My cat walked right in front of me and started growling at them. She did not like them near her hoomam. Plus there are quite a few incidences of cats protecting children on youtube if you look it up. NC Quadraxis cat island is basically a feral city. The cats there aren't exactly spayed and neutered so they multiply by the thousands. Not exactly ideal

She saved me in the darkest time of my life. She passed this April and I'm devastated. She was softer than a bunny. Do you remember seeing a little girl like that?

Aspen - yes, truly extraordinary. I care for about 15 abandoned and feral kitties in my m.h. park. There are rewards for doing this kind of service - they surprise me often with how well they compliment living with their presence.
Maybe a fundraiser can be if they charge $10 or so admission to go in. Maybe a small Cafe on premises so people spend even more. I guess the problem then would be to make sure that people going in don't let the cats out and are all good with the cats.

When he said the kitten season would bring 300 extra cats, I was like "they don't spay/nueter here??" SO glad to hear they do! And doing a low cost service too, fantastic :) Spay/Neuter is THE most important thing that can be done to increase the welfare of Cats. And people not being able to afford it (as well as other vetinary care) is the biggest reason so many cats end up on the streets suffering.
OMG! I've literally woken in bed with cats I don't know. I come home to cats I don't know. My neighbors cat came to my house to have kittens and never left. Cats seem to find me, know matter where I go. I live far out in the country, further than people will drive to dump cats. Yet they still find me! I must emit some kind of cat lover frequency that leads them to my house.

Shelly Bane Um, no. Allowing them to hunt were expose them to parasites and being hunted themselves by even bigger animals. This is California, there are coyotes out there, and they will eat cats. Also, feeding 1000 cats a raw diet on what is likely a non-profit budget would be very difficult if not impossible.

First, in the wild, there would never be so many cats to need food in the first place because lack of food, parasites and other predators would take care of that. It all balances out. Secondly, this does NOT kill off all wild cats into extinction as I'm sure you would imagine. They simply do not need us. Intestinal parasites are dealt with in the wild predator's gutt by a high content of strong stomach acids which digest them before they even become larvae. They learn to hide and cover their scent. This is why cats roll around on the ground and also bury their feces as opposed to dogs. I understand why the average city inhabitant believes this nonsense about supposedly needing kibble and penicillin but none of it is true. Most of these cats need to be put down. It's an insult to them to let them live this way. Nature's way is best.
We adopted a kitten from there years ago. Actually Santa did and brought it to our son Christmas eve 😉. It really is AMAZING!!!!! This is her and her people's legacy, and it's wonderful. She deserves all the media and notoriety possible to help her cause

I tried about 3 or 4 times to get help for a dog in my street. Told the SPCA, the cops, and eventuallythe owner (and physically hurt myself in the process). Nothing is being done I get so darnfrustrated. There are actually people (and many profess to be christians) who put up a fenceto avoid looking at a dog in distress or do unmentionable things or totally ignore itand would never help a stray cat or any animal. Those lowlifes had better never darken my door. I am glad Jesus is coming back (after a few prophecies) but not too far off.
Bitch next door traps animals and has the police take them. I had a black female I took in because her house burned down. She had babies and I was caring for them, (maybe 3 weeks old at the time, she had them in my garage). I had to pay 75+ just to get her out. You could see she was full of milk and that old hag knew I was taking care of her AND she knew the cat had kittens. I gave the babies away but kept mamma and her previous baby. Both almost died in that fire, she did lose one. I saw that woman and explained and I was shocked when she knew all of it yet didn't let that cat go. All she had to do was open the cage. I was a nervous wreck but I got her back. I need to get both spayed but it's so expensive so I keep them inside. My boys are neutered so they just think they are nuts when they go in heat, lmao.

BTW... you can get a PLAQUE made, which they will hang up at the entrance to the huge center for kitties. $100 for small, $180 for medium and $250 for large. What a sweet idea to know that even when your gone, your precious babies will go on forever living in memory by those who visit this extraordinaire place. I ordered a plaque for my babies who died, Pico and Baby. May they rest in peace forever for they are never forgotten.
Im sure your local shelter would LOVE to have you help with the cats as a volunteer. It's worth asking about and if you think about it, shelter cats need attention, cuddles, etc more than these cats, who seem quite well cared for. 😺
there should be a lot less need for places like this... What causes the glut in cats (and dogs) is irresponsible owners not getting them neutered. In part it's because they think they can't afford to (when pretty much every shelter and vet can do it at a steep discount or even free for people on low income) but because all too many people don't wan to because they think it is "unnatural" or "animal abuse" to do it ("after all, you'd not neuter your children would you now" is an argument I keep hearing).

Spay/Neuter is THE most important thing that can be done to increase the welfare of Cats. And people not being able to afford it (as well as other vetinary care) is the biggest reason so many cats end up on the streets suffering.

OMG! I've literally woken in bed with cats I don't know. I come home to cats I don't know. My neighbors cat came to my house to have kittens and never left. Cats seem to find me, know matter where I go. I live far out in the country, further than people will drive to dump cats. Yet they still find me! I must emit some kind of cat lover frequency that leads them to my house.

@Debbie Smith they are rescues but one was a pregnant mama rescue and she gave birth to her babies here. It's almost time for her to get fixed. I have to wait til the kittens aren't nursing anymore and are on solid food. They're barely gonna be a month old on the 14th.

They aren't helping these cats by giving them kibble and canned. You can help cats better by bringing in a couple of strays and giving them a raw diet and/or allowing them to hunt.
Shelly Bane Um, no. Allowing them to hunt were expose them to parasites and being hunted themselves by even bigger animals. This is California, there are coyotes out there, and they will eat cats. Also, feeding 1000 cats a raw diet on what is likely a non-profit budget would be very difficult if not impossible.

First, in the wild, there would never be so many cats to need food in the first place because lack of food, parasites and other predators would take care of that. It all balances out.
Secondly, this does NOT kill off all wild cats into extinction as I'm sure you would imagine. They simply do not need us. Intestinal parasites are dealt with in the wild predator's gutt by a high content of strong stomach acids which digest them before they even become larvae.
They learn to hide and cover their scent. This is why cats roll around on the ground and also bury their feces as opposed to dogs.
I understand why the average city inhabitant believes this nonsense about supposedly needing kibble and penicillin but none of it is true. Most of these cats need to be put down. It's an insult to them to let them live this way. Nature's way is best.

We adopted a kitten from there years ago. Actually Santa did and brought it to our son Christmas eve 😉. It really is AMAZING!!!!! This is her and her people's legacy, and it's wonderful. She deserves all the media and notoriety possible to help her cause

This has to be the nicest thing I have ever seen that people do out of the goodness of their hearts. That is a LOT of work to do every day. I wish our state would be like this but the best they do here is have a do not kill for the cats, at least that is something.

I tried about 3 or 4 times to get help for a dog in my street. Told the SPCA, the cops, and eventuallythe owner (and physically hurt myself in the process). Nothing is being done I get so darnfrustrated. There are actually people (and many profess to be christians) who put up a fenceto avoid looking at a dog in distress or do unmentionable things or totally ignore itand would never help a stray cat or any animal. Those lowlifes had better never darken my door. I am glad Jesus is coming back (after a few prophecies) but not too far off.
Bitch next door traps animals and has the police take them. I had a black female I took in because her house burned down. She had babies and I was caring for them, (maybe 3 weeks old at the time, she had them in my garage). I had to pay 75+ just to get her out. You could see she was full of milk and that old hag knew I was taking care of her AND she knew the cat had kittens. I gave the babies away but kept mamma and her previous baby. Both almost died in that fire, she did lose one.
I saw that woman and explained and I was shocked when she knew all of it yet didn't let that cat go. All she had to do was open the cage. I was a nervous wreck but I got her back. I need to get both spayed but it's so expensive so I keep them inside. My boys are neutered so they just think they are nuts when they go in heat, lmao.

BTW... you can get a PLAQUE made, which they will hang up at the entrance to the huge center for kitties. $100 for small, $180 for medium and $250 for large. What a sweet idea to know that even when your gone, your precious babies will go on forever living in memory by those who visit this extraordinaire place. I ordered a plaque for my babies who died, Pico and Baby. May they rest in peace forever for they are never forgotten.

my local shelter is a kill shelter I would only adopt from there. I could never volunteer there it would be too heartbreaking for me too.
there should be a lot less need for places like this... What causes the glut in cats (and dogs) is irresponsible owners not getting them neutered.
In part it's because they think they can't afford to (when pretty much every shelter and vet can do it at a steep discount or even free for people on low income) but because all too many people don't wan to because they think it is "unnatural" or "animal abuse" to do it ("after all, you'd not neuter your children would you now" is an argument I keep hearing).
