    Many of your videos should be mandatory viewing for ALL those traveling Australia - including this one. I'm puzzled as to why you do not have 100k + subscribers. I'm in my 70s, and have lived, mostly in the outback, on the road in WA. In a small van I built from scratch, and Falcon wagon, for almost 10 years. And I FREQUENTLY LEARN things from your presentations ... SO ... thank you Sue, and that guy that insists on hanging around with you 😂😂😂

    Trips to Bunnings, BCF or Anaconda! All the little things like temperature monitors for fridges that might not be working, toilet stuff, CO2 monitors, tap connectors etc etc. Lots of those ‘little things’ that just add up over the course of a year.

    We brought a little battery powered Ryobi pressure washer which draws the water etc out of a bucket. I find it works really well to clean the car/van and doesn't cost anywhere as much as the car wash! Similar no doubt to your Gerni! Really like the new set up, hopefully it gives you a good run!

    I'm a bit dissapointed that you didn't touch on the biggest hidden expense... bakeries 🙂 Not sure what it is that makes us stop at every bakery we see. Must be a disease

    • @suelandolt6840
      @suelandolt6840 Месяц назад +4

      Yes! Donut costs add up quickly, although we can always justify that as we do 100% like to support the smaller local businesses and tourism is an important part of that 😊

    You need to be aware that the tollway sensors in Sydney will pick up the length of your van and car and charge you as a truck which is double or more than a car and caravan, we get charged all the time but call the toll people after using it and explain you are a car not a truck and they fix it.

    • @suelandolt6840
      @suelandolt6840 Месяц назад +1

      This is super helpful information 😊 alot of travellers dont think about tolls when one trip through a couple of tunnels can be o er $100 which is a big expense 😮

    Just letting that there is water at the free camp before you come in to Gympie. There is also water at the free camp in Tiaro and free camp in Howard. As for fire wood if you ask a farmer as we have they are more than happy for you to help yourself cutting firewood off their properties. The new van looks good and keep injoying yourselves.

    Hi Guys, as a solo traveler i had thought of getting a dog for company. I must say after listening to the number of things and costs involved that related to doing this I have now decided to give that a big miss. Thanks it was very helpful for me. 😀

      It's a pleasure. When we decided to get a dog it was knowing costs are involved (don't get me wrong, I am happy to pay the costs as he is worth every penny!❤) but there are definitely considerations to having a dog.

    Awsome yet again. I got a $75 fine at the Geraldton PO for not displaying a ticket that was for free. I was as long as it takes to go to lock box. Signs signs everywhere of all sorts of information. I was watching pedestrians other moving cars and for a parking spot. SO everyone check for these parking bays every where you go. Seen another one at Bunbury but it wasn't being used.

  • @BruceHardie-y6v
    @BruceHardie-y6v 29 дней назад +1

    Hi guys, in your new van you said you have gone away from the Bunnings suction items. I missed the name of the new ones and where to purchase them from. The ones I have from Bunnings have started to rust, so will have to replace them. My wife and I enjoy your tube and watch them religiously. Safe travels.

  • @OurOutbackJourney

    Some great points, guys. We are about to replace our windscreen for the second time. First replacement was at the beginning of this month. Two weeks later we got another chip, that has now become a crack right across the screen and will need to be replaced soon 😬😬😬 Both were stones flicked up on bitumen roads!!! Ridiculous really, when we think about how many thousands of kilometres we've done on gravel roads....
    Another hidden cost is printing. We don't have our own printer (no space for it) but you can usually go into tourist information or a library and have documents printed. It's not expensive (only a few dollars) but adds up if you need afew things printed out during the year, for example park passes or permits,that have to be displayed in the car.

    • @suelandolt6840
      @suelandolt6840 Месяц назад +2

      100% and if you get stopped it can result in a defect which is even more costly. These are things that happen regularly when travelling full-time 😊

    Gas is another expense. If we are lucky enough to be powered up in a CP or similar, I use my induction cooker. Don’t touch the gas. Save that for when off grid. Great episode btw.

    • @suelandolt6840
      @suelandolt6840 Месяц назад +1
