Thank you for being so honest about your costs and glad to hear you guys thoroughly enjoyed it. We looked forward and enjoyed watching every single episode of your lap.
Thanks Bridgette. Everyone does this trip differently, so I wanted to share which are the costs that can be controlled and which are flexible. As we had a limited time we had planned for the trip and knew we were going back to jobs, it was important for us to have the trip of a lifetime and do whatever we felt like doing ☺️ really appreciate you joining us virtually on our trip. Take care, Hannah & Chris
Great wrap up Hannah and Chris. The $'s come and go but you'll have the memories forever. I really enjoyed your lap and look forward to hearing about what's next.
Hey Kev and Annette! Thanks for the message - yes, we have created such wonderful memories from the trip, but the videos will keep coming. We’re not putting a video up this weekend as it’s Easter, but our What Next video will go up the weekend after! 😎
Thank you so much for this update. We gained so much from your episodes prior to leaving and multiple places you went were transferred to wikicamps (ESPECIALLY the Red Cliff Island walk at low tide which I had no idea was a "thing"). We've been on the road for 9 months and are in Melbourne now. We quickly learnt that eating out and alcohol affected the budget. Like you, our caravan park stays alter significantly depending on the hot or (like now) cold weather. At the end of the day we feel very fortunate to be able to do this and I can tell you did too. Thank you for inspiring people to follow their dream of travel. Honesty of money spent versus original budget is a great guide for those on the road and those considering doing The Lap. All the best to you for the future.
Well done guys, you had a incredible experience that you will remember forever. Thank you for sharing 👏🏻👏🏻 Next is ? Chris & Hannah on push bikes around Victoria with Archie in a trailer 😂 If down Timboon way might shout you a coffee or might need a whiskey if you’re on the bike 🤣🤣
Hey guys, tremendous insight into what it costs to travel Australia for a year. There's lots to take away from your experience and apply to your own individual situation. We agree with the previous comment and appreciate your honesty. We really loved watching your adventures each week, which provided us with a lot of inspiration, and your tips for various places and activities were so useful on our trip. Thanks again, and looking forward to what's coming next, Lyn & Corrie😊
Hi Heather. Yes we did - we used the money to buy a second car (as we had sold one of our cars to help buy the caravan before the trip - no point in paying for a car you’re not going to use for a year).
Hi lovely. Thanks for the message and very good question! We were very lucky to sell the caravan for slightly more than we bought it for (although that included quite a few add ons such as the inverter). 😊
Great info guys $75k for a 12 month holiday is far less than I expected. It would be interesting to do a comparison as to how much you would have spent for 12 months at home doing every day life. We have followed your trip and watched all of your videos and learnt Soooooooo much. We have just bought our Caravan and Tow vehicle and will be doing our first caravan park in May, with 3 small dogs, wish us look. Hopefully what’s next will be the pattering of little feet and adding to the family for a future trip lol😂
Hey Stuart - are you suggesting we get another dog???? 🤣🤣 Yes - we could well spend a similar amount back home, without the amazing memories!! I might have to think about that one…
Really enjoyed watching your journey from the very start. Great cost video, I was also wondering what the cost of magnets would have been, didn't expect that much. Look forward to the next video.
Yes. There were definitely some conscious decisions made during on the trip to flex that. As it was a fixed year away and we knew we were going back to work afterwards, we prioritised the experience over our savings account. Agree we were lucky to have that reserve 👍🏻
Hi Shane. No, we didn’t do any mods to the Ranger, apart from getting the snorkel added. It held up really well - we didn’t have any overheating issues while towing.
@@StaycationOz Hi, thanks for letting me know that is good to hear as everyone says that you should put one on. Enjoyed watching your travels and can’t wait to do ours when we get our van I will download your budget spreadsheet soon All the best with what you do next Shane

So nice of you to say Jo!

Thanks for your breakdown, I always tell the kids spend money on experiences that’s what makes the memories
Hi Colleen. So true - the experiences are what enrich you as a person!!

Hey Donna - thanks for the message, and thanks for following our trip and channel 🙌

Hahahaha - brilliant comment Stewie! Either that, or Archie flying a hot air balloon with Hannah and Chris holding on to the rope!!!
Wow - a massive undertaking during which you showed courage and imagination.
Thanks 🤩
Great as always
Thanks guys! Hope you’re well!! ☺️

Hey Lyn! Thanks for the comment (as always ☺️) and glad you’re still enjoying our videos! Am getting excited for the next one!!
Thank you so much for sharing that, always interesting to hear how much a trip like this costs 🙂
Thanks punkweed1. It was enlightening for us too!! 🤓
Great insight, thank you
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for another great episode
Do you have a list on the experiences you did
Hey Laura. We do have a list of our experiences but haven’t shared this online. Let me have a think as to where the best place to put the list is…..
thank you for your honest review...did you sell your van when you got home
Hi Heather. Yes we did - we used the money to buy a second car (as we had sold one of our cars to help buy the caravan before the trip - no point in paying for a car you’re not going to use for a year).
Did you end up recouping most of your money for your van?
Look forward to hearing your new plans!
How is Archie?
❤
Hi lovely. Thanks for the message and very good question! We were very lucky to sell the caravan for slightly more than we bought it for (although that included quite a few add ons such as the inverter). 😊
P.S Archie is good! He just went in to Chris’ office for Bring Your Dog to Work Day today, so he’s pretty tired this evening!!! 🐕🦺

….and good luck for May. Very exciting to have a trip planned!!!!
Really enjoyed watching your journey from the very start.
Great cost video, I was also wondering what the cost of magnets would have been, didn't expect that much.
Look forward to the next video.
Hey Stuart - yes, we did think that the cost of magnets was a key budgeting component that a lot of travel videos miss out discussing 🤣🤣🤣
with being so far of the budget $'s, I guess you had a reserve of money you could draw on, which was lucky.
Yes. There were definitely some conscious decisions made during on the trip to flex that. As it was a fixed year away and we knew we were going back to work afterwards, we prioritised the experience over our savings account. Agree we were lucky to have that reserve 👍🏻
Hi Guys.
Just wondering if you put a trans cooler on your car or if not did you find the car got hot while towing.
Hi Shane. No, we didn’t do any mods to the Ranger, apart from getting the snorkel added. It held up really well - we didn’t have any overheating issues while towing.

All the best with what you do next

I think sometimes people can get a bit carried away with “just in case” mods! Thanks for following the videos ☺️
