The ceiling for Kidd's fruit is why I think he's a hard counter for pure swordsmen like Zorro and Mihawk. He may not be stronger overall, but the utility and ability to shut down most of what a swordsman has to offer gives him an incredible advantage.
I think one of the biggest things that needs to be explained or elaborated on involving Kid’s Fruit is if it can be linked to his Haki and he utilizes Haki in his attacks. 80% of Kid’s skill set involves slamming a bunch of metal into people and I doubt that was the only factor in his fight with Big Mom.
I always assume that character that know haki are using it in every attack unless its stated that they arent, since oda doesnt always paints it black for whatever reason

I think his awakening just makes his magnetic force so much stronger he's able to do it. Unless stated I'm not going to assume he's using haki for his wrestling slams
He probably can, but things like the rail gun definitely are just generally strong. I don’t know how he’d put haki in that. I think haki is a tad overestimated, armament haki just makes your body akin to a very strong metal that slightly boosts your strength. Most of the crazy strength seen in the one piece world comes from either a choice application of devil fruit powers, a seemingly endless potential for human/living beings strength, or both. Kidd wouldn’t necessarily need to put haki on his metal fist outside of wanting to hit logia users. Kidd just slams into people with metal while also using his powers to “push” that metal for further damage (like, if all he did was slam a metal bull into big mom, it wouldn’t hurt and the loose metal would fall apart. He simultaneously increased the force by repelling the metal towards her while retaining it’s shape). I think of Kidd and especially the fight with big mom as a sign that, even though haki is necessary, many devil fruits can be mastered to the point you can reach the higher tiers.
So... Electricity and Magnetism are pretty much 2 sides of the same coin. Any electric current will generate a magnetic field and Any changing magnetic field will generate an electric current. So Kid technically could do electric stuff like Eneru, and Eneru could make electromagnets too. They both could heat up metals by forcing electric current through them and they could also generate electromagnetic waves which then gets into Kizaru's territory because light is an electromagnetic wave.
The Electromagnetic wave is not the same as Magnetism as Light, a part of the Electromagnetic spectrum, is not effected by magnetism. For him to create an electric current he would have to understand how a magnetic field effects electrons, create the correct current, possibly store it, and then be able to direct the unleashed energy which would be difficult since all currents want to complete a circuit so it would just hit the nearest object that reaches out with a positive charge just like a lightening strike...or it's anime and he used a railgun because who cares it's awesome :P

Using Einstein Field Equations , a Electromagnetic Field generates a Gravitational Field as well so he Ener and Kid would have Fujitora's powers as well

You do know, Sir Crocodile didn't necessarily have to bite into his Fruit immediately, like he would an apple? Remember the CP9 Members? He could've just cut the Fruit and eat the insides. Same thing goes for Kids fruit and for the fruits of everyone else of course. And by the way, it is possible to make heat with magnetism.
You don't even have to eat it. Oda confirmed that extracting and drinking the juice will work, too. Anything's fair game as long as a part of the fruit winds up in your stomach. For example: eating the skin.

The Scariest Thing About Kidd’s Abilities is that he can Create and Power any Weapon/Machine in the World During Battle. He can Also Magnetize Things That Are Not Metal (He Assigned Big Mom to a Brick Wall)
The funny thing is Oda originally thought that Kid would be the one to stand out amongst the worst generation; he never expected Law to become so popular. You can tell Oda didn't really have Law thought out yet, even during marineford, portraying him as a quiet, brooding, mysterious type. Odd purposefully kept him quiet until punk hazard, where we fully see law's personality and quirks
I can see oda not expecting him to be as popular, but I doubt he would have given Law the abilities he did show off in Sabaody if he wasn't going to be important. Shambles was such an awesome move I doubt he ment for law to be a second fiddle. But I can see Kidd getting less screen time than was intended, which sucks I think he's an interesting character.

I think folk are underestimating kid and his fruit. Besides awakening his fruit, having conquerors haki(that needs some trainig) really freaking strong even with one arm. The boy is kinda amazing. He'll he even had plot armor. Kid does need some work but of all honesty I can see kid being a much meaner whiteboard in the future.
Not only Kid ate THAT fruit, but since he's awakened his DF and apparently you have to have years of practice with it, he must have eaten it when he was, well, a kid.
Not really look at Blackbeard. He consumed the Darkness fruit in less than a year? and was immediately able to beat Ace with it. He "ate" the Gura Gura no Mi is less than 5 minutes but was able to destroy Marineford using its awesome power. You neednt years and years of training to reach such a mastery, the only thing that matters is HOW you chose to train. Just look at Naruto and sage mode. 2 weeks I presume? Bastard fkin beat Madara who is 1000x times the ninja he is and was the strongest ninja in the world pretty much at the end of the ninja war arc.

Answers: - Magnets ar made by having the outer ring of electrons mostly spin in the same direction (and not randomly) just like the electro magnets (coil magnet) - You can't repal a cannon: it just attracts. Ferromagnetic materials can shift electrons inside so they are repaled from the side that is close to the magnet (if you're facing the negative part of the magnet) to the back, so the front of the cannon ball will always be attracted a little more than the far side repals (because the power depands on distance). Exception- if they fire positivly/negativly charged matter, or he can asign from a distance, or on the air around the cannonball. -most coins are mostly zinc, but with a lot of small traces of other materisls -depands on the ore, he might be able to use it, some can be magnetisize, some can't -he can use his power as a power source, by shifting his magnetic field back and forth around a metal. But almost all devil fruits can be used to make energy - He can create extream heat, basically with internal friction by moving the electrons fast in all direction in a metal -all in all, asign must be used in all his moves, to move stuff other than to attract them, so my headcannon is that his awakening is to asign to living things (Not formally a scientist, just like knowledge)
I'm a HUGE Big Mom fan, and the fact she just puts souls into her broken bones and torn ligaments to give them life and not only heal but also strengthen! That is AMAZING! This was my second favorite fight of Wano behind Luffy and Kaido. I personally think Kid was awesome during this and I never really thought about him at all tbh, but his performance was incredible!
I studied physics in college so i know a little about it. A magnetic field is the same as an electric field except that the field is distorted by relativistic motion. Most of the time we treat it as a totally different thing for convenience however. In any atom the electrons are sort of moving (quantum makes it complicated) at a speed great enough to distort the electric field they produce. The motion of the electron is analogous to orbiting around the nucleus of the atom and can be in almost any direction. In non magnetic materials the electrons pair up to spin in opposite directions so just like if you have opposite charges in an electric field the opposite spinning electrons cancel out each others magnetic fields. In other materials the electrons can be in un paired states which allows the total effect of electrons in an atom to be a non zero field. In a material like that the atoms when put close to each other can cause each other to match in the direction of their fields sort of like how when you put magnets on a table they can spin around sometimes to get in the right position to stick to each other. In iron and other ferromagnetic materials this winds up being many clusters of atoms which are in the same direction as each other but different from the patch next to each other. A plain bar of iron may not have its own magnetic field but when you apply a magnet to it the patches of similar orientation can shift their orientation to match so they stick to the magnet but when you take the magnet away the little patches of iron drift apart again because they are not strong enough to hold the pattern on their own. Permanent magnets are strong enough to hold it on their own. Hopefully that was at least a little interesting for you.
Anyone reading that might also read this so I just post it here ;D Iron magnet is just bunch of iron molecules that has positive and negative side cause it was under magnetic force when it was heated and then cooled down. Overtime it will return to normal iron ore which has all molecules pointing at different directions. Electric magnet has conductor freely pass electrons over it's surface because molecules are not attached by anything else than it's own electric magnet force... Get one extra near there, other one moves to replace that on the earlier one. Then there's Dielectric materials with both behaviours and some that doesn't have either cause they just cancel itself enough for them not to matter. Molecule consists of electrons and protons, and perhaps some unknown smaller particles which don't really matter for electricity or magnetism in visible manner. Proton's stuck in the middle as they are heavier, electrons are at surface surrounding protons at different heights. The distance changes only slightly on matters density and atmosphere... Some mixed matters just break apart easily (alcohols etc). Chemistry utilize the material to raise or lower electrons in molecule heights and some materials mix together when heated. Heating or cooling material like Water (H2O), it mixes up with other molecules, freeing (OH-, Hydroxide) or capturing electrons (H3O+, Hydronium). Molecule hungry for electron tends to capture it from other molecules more easily and the other gives it more easily (Basics for battery).

So, on the topic of using a powerful enough magnet to repel cannonballs: The Mythbusters actually tested a similar myth, where James Bond used his magnetic wristwatch to repel bullets. Through copious amounts of testing, they determined that even one of those industrial electromagnets that are used in scrapyards can't repel a bullet enough to stop a bullet from killing you, though there was a little deflection. So yes, it is possible for a powerful enough electromagnet to deflect a cannonball, it would require more power than is reasonably doable. Maybe there's a powerful enough one out there in CERN or something, but it would have to be ridiculously powerful.

I googled it and it seems like Mythbusters just used regular bullets and the magnets caused them to tumble, and I read something where it was theorized that the magnets were able to have this effect bc of Eddy currents which I know nothing about. But then they did it w steel BB's and were able to change trajectory. Allegedly.
Magnetism powers are broken by the nature of magnets. TLDR: Magnetism basically doubles the closer you get to the user. Because magnetism decreases at a Rate of I=1/D2. Basically the distance divided by itself multiplied by 2. So if a Morrison with a magnetism power can move even small objects at long range, means they are impossibly strong at close range.
I've always been impressed how Kidd is often using his power considering how often he has a metal arm. If it's not using his power, that arm wouldn't be there

Electromagnetic induction. Is when you run electrical current usually through a metal with a low resistance (copper) tied around a usually iron pole since electricity and magnetism are the same force. It can make the iron magnetic. The reverse also works. This is just of it.
Kidd should be able to shoot off lightning like enel, since magnetism and electricity are intrinsically linked , and we see kid emit some sort of purple lightning when using his devil fruit. We also saw that enel could control magnetism from how he wrapped a giant golden ball around luffys arm.

If Kid created a motor setup with his metal and spun said motor, sure, he could turn his power into an electric current. Likewise Kidd could be immune to Enel's power because of his passive magnetism effectively leaving him in a consistent electrified state.
Technically those quarters are magnetic. Everything is at least a tiny bit magnetic. It's just that in the materials were used to called Ferromagnetic materials (iron, cobalt, and nickel) are just stronger magnets. In laymans terms magnetism is basically just the movement of an electrical charge hence the electromagnetic force which encompasses both electricity and magnetism. Both have a force carrier that communicates it's force through the photon. It can get more complicated than that but that's really all you need.
Now, just due to the nature of magnets, I'd think that _usually_ Attract would be the first technique anyone who has the fruit would learn. Though it's also entirely possible that Kid could have figured out Repel first due to environmental factors like you mentioned. Could even have started off by _accidentally_ attracting metal objects at first, and then managing to stop doing that when he figured out how to Repel, or something like that.
It’s interesting, we still haven’t seen Kid’s backstory It would be okay not to see it but he seems too important and oddly similar to Luffy and Law in terms of Conquerors Haki and Strength which means his upbringing must be REALLY important and his backstory must be strong

Well Tekking, scientist actually don‘t know exactly how magnets work, since in theory there should be magnetic monopoles but we can‘t observe them nor create them at the moment.
There is nothing stating that magnetic monopoles SHOULD exist - only that they are mathematically and theoretically possible. Everything we understand about electromagnetism is consistent with or without the existence of monopoles.

Not an engineer but i DID drop out going into my senior year of electrical engineering. The fruit is actually a magnet and i find it beyond cool!!! If you run a current through the copper wire loop it induces magnetic flux which will effect anything inside the wire loop… these effects include magnetizing the object if its able to be. So yeah 11/10 fruit design
Technically you only have to take one bite of the fruit and no one said how big the bite have to be considering Luffy took a huge ass bite out of his fruit not even the whole thing and got his abilities. So maybe a normal person would eat it as carefully as possible but knowing Kidd he shoved the whole damn fruit down his gullet

Tekking talks a whole video about Luffy being able to influence living things with his awakening and says he is not sure if any other awakening can do this. He continues with a whole video about Kid and the Asign awakening. He does not draw any connection. This is why we love you.
...It is now my headcanon that Kidd messed up his teeth eating his Devil Fruit and had to wear braces that he probably made and adjusted himself in order to get that award-winning smile of his.
Interesting fact about magnets: When a magnet is above a certain temperature it loses its magnetic properties. So, if one of the few characters with heat based powers keep the metals around Kidd hot (above 80ºC, which is less than what is need to turn water into vapour), he would not be able to control them.

If a magnet is kept at that temperature for some time it loses it's magnetic properties permanentely, even after cooling down, so assign would dissipate regardless of Kidds time limits. He would be able to use assign again and make her into a magnet again (even magnets that lost their properties due to heat can be remagnitized with the proper technique), but if she could re-heat herself they would be locked in that cycle. But 80ºC is way above the normal human body temp (around 36ºC) so she would end up burning herself up unless her body resists heat. She would still (at minimum) risk a severe heat stroke and dehydration
Fun fact, the bedrock of most of the worlds ocean is mafic in composition. Which means its feromagnetic (iron based magnetism) thats how ancient magnetic poles were discovered by science. Ships in world war 2 would drag magnetic instrumentation across the atlantic looking for german submarines, but ended up mapping the seafloor having reversing polarity magnetic signitures. So yes, kid could likely manipulate the seafloor and also akainu's lava once it becomes cool enough to not being glowing anymore. Because rock and metal looses its magnetic polarity when heated to a certain point.
When you think about it, Kidd has control over one of the 4 primal forces of the universe, and how weird is it to say that in a purely scientific manor? Come to think of it, since gravity as another of the 4 forces, him fighting Fujitora might rip a hole in the space time continuum.
If you want an example of some of what could be done with iron sand: A Certain Scientific Railgun. The main character has electric powers, and uses them for a bunch of creative things, including electromagnetism. The obvious use is, well, a railgun, as the title implies (using arcade tokens as ammo, but also sometimes... uh... bigger things), but she's also used iron sand to make iron sand tendrils and what is essentially a super-sharp chainsaw (in the form of a sword formed of rapidly vibrating tiny iron sand particles). Neat stuff.
Looking at Kids devil fruit, I almost thought it was Eneru's devil fruit. I could actually see Eneru's fruit resembling a thundercloud with lightning 🌩⚡.
That actually gave me the idea of devil fruit-twins. Wouldn’t you hate it when you search for a specific devil fruit and you found one that’s almost identical? Come to think of it, what about ALL the heat-related devil fruits? Those HAVE TO look alike!
@@Sciborg9 I could actually see the Goro Goro no mi resembling a Cloudberry fruit. The Cloudberry fruit is an edible berry found mostly in Scandinavia, and other places such as Russia, and even Sweden. The Fruit looks like a bright orange cloud shaped berry. Totally fits with Nami in fighting style, favorite color, and nationality.
I really like to think that Kid found it and bit into it to try to find out what kind of metal it was or the consistency of the metal so when he bit into it he bit through it and obtained the ability
For anyone who’s watched X-Men Apocalypse, the scene where Apocalypse amplified Magneto’s powers and he rips the metal out of the ground from all over the planet.. that’s exactly what I imagine Kid being able to do
4:25 Tekking my dude, knives are a thing that exists, he can just cut off a piece of it or cut away the skin where the needles are while holding the needle-free stem or really just freaking grab it (carefully), same principle as laying on a spike mat, pressure spread over many points rendering them effectively harmless. It's is not a mystery how someone would eat a cactus, there exists edible cactuses in our world
The strong and weak magnetic forces are some of the fundamental forces in the universe and if he has access to them he should be able to rip atoms apart and things like that
I find it funny that a magnetar is the most powerful magnetic object in the known universe can rip apart you molecules because it is so strong making kids fruit if as strong as the strongest magnet broken
Even in an island without metal objects or ore, Kid still has his metal arm and the metal on his outfit. He could still club people from range with those, maybe even accelerate them to bullet speed for a Mach Rocket Punch.
I'm actuall curious how Kid vs Enel would turn out as a matchup. In theory, Kid wouldn't even need assign for Enel to have a negative charge, which means he can do all kinds of nonsense to forcibly pull and repel his body.
Basically Kidd vs Zeus and Kidd put Zeus in a box that pure lightning couldn't escape from. In terms of just devil fruits I think Kidd could counter enels lightning and trap him
A cool thing kid could do if he could is make his boat act as a magnet to hold into weapons and various types of metal and if he ever needs it he can just take from off the ship Incase he does go to an area with out any iron to control
There is so much cool stuff that can be done with access to magnetism, and with his awakening even more But the the one He can make magnetic fields so he could guard against electricity and fire based attacks He can generate electricity via making moving magnetic field through conductive materials He can probably make and emp and disable electronics which would disable/destroy robots and cyborgs if he can oscillate his magnetic field he could generate electromagnetic radiation (radio waves, infrared waves, visible light, uv, X-rays and gamma rays) Also with magnetic oscillation he can generate heat via the same principle a microvaves do With his awakening being able to make other things magnetic he effectively gets access to electromotive force so he could spin things like an electric motor And with access to a second strong magnet and himself he could levitate things. Heck with magnets he could control water. If Kid had the screen time, Oda, dedicated to research on magnetism and a bit of anime logic kid could almost as op as law

I mean most of you can be difficult to understand it in the end it's science ,but yeah like I said Kidd's devil fruit power is omnipotent power and has no equal and opponent in manipulative and destructive power area. Hey tekking! I’ve been watching your videos since early high school and love your content! I recently graduated with a applied physics degree and am currently working on electronics that we send up on satellites! Broadly, electromagnetism is really complicated magic! More seriously though, if you are wondering how something like the copper wire wrapped around a cylinder works, it’s called a solenoid, and that’s probably part of the inspiration for the fruit. Electric and magnetic fields are one and the same, just one wave where one axis is the electric part and the perpendicular axis is the magnetic part. So an electric current will generate a magnetic field, and a magnetic field will generate an electric current. A solenoid works by running current through the wrapped wire, often copper, thus creating a magnetic field! In terms of magnetism itself, everything is actually magnetic; aka attracted and repelled by magnetic fields, what most people mean when they talk about magnetism is ferromagnetic materials! Basically magnets works bc electrons (or rather, the magnetic moment of electrons) want to be aligned a certain way, or lined up, but this is where it gets a bit more complicated so I think that’s just a good way to think of it

Easily one of the most underrated characters of the verse. No mythical zoan, not a super special crew, no ties with shanks, Rayleigh, and family heritage. No D clan specialty, Just a simple kid and his best friend traveling to chase the same dream as the mc with no mc plot armor. Everything kid has was 100% earned. I'm sick of the community bashing kid who had to work with what he has.
Absolutely love this fruit design, the design actually tell the story of how magnets 🧲 are made! The iron wrapped in copper, and then the small lighting bolt on top, you get iron wrapped in copper and basically super charge it with a jolt of electricity and bam magnet!
I thought Kidds awakening would have more to do with the brain or something ironically, just because neurons communicate with electromagnetic energy firing off between eachother. But I guess that's too farfetched for his character 🤣
Tekking I'm a physics teacher and if you want to I would love to teach you about magnets or anything physics you might need help with. if the iron cannonball itself is not magnetic then it can only ever be attracted by a magnet not repelled, and if the cannonball is a magnet then it would not work ether. Magnet only repel other magnet when the to face each other with the same polarity and attract when the poles are different, so a magnet cannonball fired against a super strong magnat where both has the same poles facing each other, it still would not work because the cannonball will just flip over as soon as it is fires and will be attracted instead of being repelled, basically the cannonball would always flip over before it would ever be bounced back. But depending on how Kids fruit powers actually works it could be possible.

So yeah, u can bounce an iron ball with a big (huuuuuge) enough magnet. 33:15 Yes, you can generate heat with magnets but is kida complicated and inefficient, so is not common... but you can! James Clerk Maxwell ask all those questions about electromagnetism back in the late 19th century, his findings develop what we know as "Maxwell's Equations" and those equations are the bases for another theory: The Quantum Theory; and to this day we (humanity) are still developing the quantum theory knowing is still an incomplete theory and not even our most brilliant minds have yet figure out the end of it... so yeah, electromagnetism can get as complicated as quantum phisics, no shame in not undertanding all of it very well.
Kids fruit is by far one of the absolute best fruits. Have you ever heard of a guy named Magneto, Kid would have all the same powers as him. The benefit of his fruit is that humans literally need metal too achieve everything they want too do. There’s no reason Kid shouldn’t be flying around the grand line in some kind of futuristic fighter jet, submarine, or attack boat completely made out of metal.

Fun fact about magnets. They offcourse have 2 poles, a North and a South (like Kid's awakening @25:44 to assign a pole to anything he chooses, and doing this opposites will attract while the same poles will repel), but it's rather interresting how we determine which is the North pole and which is the South pole of the magnet. Basicly we leave the magnet in free suspence (you said Dr. Stone earlier, so think about Chrome leaving a tiny piece of a magnet, on a leaf, on water), doing this the magnet will shift toward the Earth's Northern Magnetic pole on it's own. Edit: Talking about Dr.Stone, they did indeed make something like a Lodestone (I think they are called that) to make the magnet not lose any attraction, normally electromagnets only are as good as long they have a charge running through them.
6:35 This is actually pretty clever that he put the wire looking stem on the fruit. There's a magnetic expirement for when you wrap a wire coil around some iron rod or nail or whatever, if you heat it up or more specifically run an electric charge through it, the thing becomes a magnet and you can run it across stuff and pick things up like a normal magnet. OH! There's also another expirement that's super similar with an of contraption but I cant remember it's shap or specifics other than it needed a copper wire and has like an iron part to it as well, and I think the space inbetween it became some sort of magnetic field, somone could prababy clear that up better than I could. And the way Kid uses his fruit, or at least the effects you see with the fruit, I think his body acts like aa pice of iron and when he activates hios power it's as if he was wrapped with the iron coil and had the electric charge. Like Think about it, all the sparks that come off of him, I know it's not a lot, but still. And then he can essentially become an magnet with one polarity to pull in or the complete opposite polarity to repel objects. Imo, one of the most usefull fruits to use IRL, but you'd have to use it with your brain which some people don't really have
My pops works for a telephone company that works on powerlines. In a training video they show them how people can either get sucked towards the voltage transformer or rejected backwards going flying. Similair to how magnetism works.

Tekkings lack of knowledge really hurts his imagination on this topic. Kid has SOO many more powers. If he puts down tracks, he has super speed because he can make himself a rail train. He can probably affect reverse magnetic items. He can generate heat and electricity. He can absolutely fly. Working with the ice admiral he can make super conductors. He might be able to pick up and transmit waves.
In many of the basic ways kid can do very similar things to force users in star wars. Disarm oponents, repel projectiles, open doors, shield himself and others using chunks of metal, avoid falling debris, levitate himself and now with his awakening even push and pull oponents at will. Sure he doesn't have the mind hax or body enhancing stuff but still i think for a day to day basis it is pretty remarkable. how close his power is to the force.
I believe Kids "Repel" should be an awekening move. Correct me if i am wrong, but magnets normaly only attract metal objecets, who are not magneticly charged. So in order to "repel" the canon ball, Kid had to "assign" a charge to it and then he can block it whit the oppusite charge. P.S. big Fan from Germany

About the "Punk Corna Dio" ability, it is a reference to Ronnie James Dio. Dio was a metal singer for a couple bands, including Black Sabbath, who claimed to have invented the 🤘which is another reference to the bull in the attack. Edit: Corna also means "horn" in Italian.

Not sure if it’s been done with something like a cannon ball, but there is a video I saw of a base jump without a parachute. They built a magnetic suit and had massive electro magnets at the bottom. It actually worked and the guy made the jump safely. Worth a watch if you’re interested.

The ceiling for Kidd's fruit is why I think he's a hard counter for pure swordsmen like Zorro and Mihawk. He may not be stronger overall, but the utility and ability to shut down most of what a swordsman has to offer gives him an incredible advantage.

I think one of the biggest things that needs to be explained or elaborated on involving Kid’s Fruit is if it can be linked to his Haki and he utilizes Haki in his attacks.
80% of Kid’s skill set involves slamming a bunch of metal into people and I doubt that was the only factor in his fight with Big Mom.
I always assume that character that know haki are using it in every attack unless its stated that they arent, since oda doesnt always paints it black for whatever reason

I think his awakening just makes his magnetic force so much stronger he's able to do it. Unless stated I'm not going to assume he's using haki for his wrestling slams
He probably can, but things like the rail gun definitely are just generally strong. I don’t know how he’d put haki in that. I think haki is a tad overestimated, armament haki just makes your body akin to a very strong metal that slightly boosts your strength. Most of the crazy strength seen in the one piece world comes from either a choice application of devil fruit powers, a seemingly endless potential for human/living beings strength, or both. Kidd wouldn’t necessarily need to put haki on his metal fist outside of wanting to hit logia users. Kidd just slams into people with metal while also using his powers to “push” that metal for further damage (like, if all he did was slam a metal bull into big mom, it wouldn’t hurt and the loose metal would fall apart. He simultaneously increased the force by repelling the metal towards her while retaining it’s shape). I think of Kidd and especially the fight with big mom as a sign that, even though haki is necessary, many devil fruits can be mastered to the point you can reach the higher tiers.

So... Electricity and Magnetism are pretty much 2 sides of the same coin. Any electric current will generate a magnetic field and Any changing magnetic field will generate an electric current. So Kid technically could do electric stuff like Eneru, and Eneru could make electromagnets too. They both could heat up metals by forcing electric current through them and they could also generate electromagnetic waves which then gets into Kizaru's territory because light is an electromagnetic wave.
The Electromagnetic wave is not the same as Magnetism as Light, a part of the Electromagnetic spectrum, is not effected by magnetism. For him to create an electric current he would have to understand how a magnetic field effects electrons, create the correct current, possibly store it, and then be able to direct the unleashed energy which would be difficult since all currents want to complete a circuit so it would just hit the nearest object that reaches out with a positive charge just like a lightening strike...or it's anime and he used a railgun because who cares it's awesome :P

You don't even have to eat it. Oda confirmed that extracting and drinking the juice will work, too. Anything's fair game as long as a part of the fruit winds up in your stomach. For example: eating the skin.

The funny thing is Oda originally thought that Kid would be the one to stand out amongst the worst generation; he never expected Law to become so popular. You can tell Oda didn't really have Law thought out yet, even during marineford, portraying him as a quiet, brooding, mysterious type. Odd purposefully kept him quiet until punk hazard, where we fully see law's personality and quirks

I can see oda not expecting him to be as popular, but I doubt he would have given Law the abilities he did show off in Sabaody if he wasn't going to be important. Shambles was such an awesome move I doubt he ment for law to be a second fiddle.

I think folk are underestimating kid and his fruit. Besides awakening his fruit, having conquerors haki(that needs some trainig) really freaking strong even with one arm. The boy is kinda amazing. He'll he even had plot armor. Kid does need some work but of all honesty I can see kid being a much meaner whiteboard in the future.
Not only Kid ate THAT fruit, but since he's awakened his DF and apparently you have to have years of practice with it, he must have eaten it when he was, well, a kid.

He "ate" the Gura Gura no Mi is less than 5 minutes but was able to destroy Marineford using its awesome power. - Magnets ar made by having the outer ring of electrons mostly spin in the same direction (and not randomly) just like the electro magnets (coil magnet)
- You can't repal a cannon: it just attracts. Ferromagnetic materials can shift electrons inside so they are repaled from the side that is close to the magnet (if you're facing the negative part of the magnet) to the back, so the front of the cannon ball will always be attracted a little more than the far side repals (because the power depands on distance). Exception- if they fire positivly/negativly charged matter, or he can asign from a distance, or on the air around the cannonball.
-most coins are mostly zinc, but with a lot of small traces of other materisls
-depands on the ore, he might be able to use it, some can be magnetisize, some can't

I'm a HUGE Big Mom fan, and the fact she just puts souls into her broken bones and torn ligaments to give them life and not only heal but also strengthen! That is AMAZING! This was my second favorite fight of Wano behind Luffy and Kaido. I personally think Kid was awesome during this and I never really thought about him at all tbh, but his performance was incredible!

I studied physics in college so i know a little about it. A magnetic field is the same as an electric field except that the field is distorted by relativistic motion. Most of the time we treat it as a totally different thing for convenience however. In any atom the electrons are sort of moving (quantum makes it complicated) at a speed great enough to distort the electric field they produce. The motion of the electron is analogous to orbiting around the nucleus of the atom and can be in almost any direction. In non magnetic materials the electrons pair up to spin in opposite directions so just like if you have opposite charges in an electric field the opposite spinning electrons cancel out each others magnetic fields. In other materials the electrons can be in un paired states which allows the total effect of electrons in an atom to be a non zero field. In a material like that the atoms when put close to each other can cause each other to match in the direction of their fields sort of like how when you put magnets on a table they can spin around sometimes to get in the right position to stick to each other. In iron and other ferromagnetic materials this winds up being many clusters of atoms which are in the same direction as each other but different from the patch next to each other. A plain bar of iron may not have its own magnetic field but when you apply a magnet to it the patches of similar orientation can shift their orientation to match so they stick to the magnet but when you take the magnet away the little patches of iron drift apart again because they are not strong enough to hold the pattern on their own. Permanent magnets are strong enough to hold it on their own.

Iron magnet is just bunch of iron molecules that has positive and negative side cause it was under magnetic force when it was heated and then cooled down. Overtime it will return to normal iron ore which has all molecules pointing at different directions.
Electric magnet has conductor freely pass electrons over it's surface because molecules are not attached by anything else than it's own electric magnet force... Get one extra near there, other one moves to replace that on the earlier one.
Then there's Dielectric materials with both behaviours and some that doesn't have either cause they just cancel itself enough for them not to matter.
Molecule consists of electrons and protons, and perhaps some unknown smaller particles which don't really matter for electricity or magnetism in visible manner. Proton's stuck in the middle as they are heavier, electrons are at surface surrounding protons at different heights. The distance changes only slightly on matters density and atmosphere... Some mixed matters just break apart easily (alcohols etc).
Chemistry utilize the material to raise or lower electrons in molecule heights and some materials mix together when heated.
Heating or cooling material like Water (H2O), it mixes up with other molecules, freeing (OH-, Hydroxide) or capturing electrons (H3O+, Hydronium). Molecule hungry for electron tends to capture it from other molecules more easily and the other gives it more easily (Basics for battery).

So, on the topic of using a powerful enough magnet to repel cannonballs: The Mythbusters actually tested a similar myth, where James Bond used his magnetic wristwatch to repel bullets. Through copious amounts of testing, they determined that even one of those industrial electromagnets that are used in scrapyards can't repel a bullet enough to stop a bullet from killing you, though there was a little deflection. So yes, it is possible for a powerful enough electromagnet to deflect a cannonball, it would require more power than is reasonably doable. Maybe there's a powerful enough one out there in CERN or something, but it would have to be ridiculously powerful.

I googled it and it seems like Mythbusters just used regular bullets and the magnets caused them to tumble, and I read something where it was theorized that the magnets were able to have this effect bc of Eddy currents which I know nothing about. Electromagnetic induction. Is when you run electrical current usually through a metal with a low resistance (copper) tied around a usually iron pole since electricity and magnetism are the same force. It can make the iron magnetic. The reverse also works. This is just of it.
Kidd should be able to shoot off lightning like enel, since magnetism and electricity are intrinsically linked , and we see kid emit some sort of purple lightning when using his devil fruit. We also saw that enel could control magnetism from how he wrapped a giant golden ball around luffys arm.
Gold is not magnetic, he used the heat of the currents to melt it around Luffy's arm, couse gold is one of the best conducters

If Kid created a motor setup with his metal and spun said motor, sure, he could turn his power into an electric current.
Likewise Kidd could be immune to Enel's power because of his passive magnetism effectively leaving him in a consistent electrified state.
Technically those quarters are magnetic. Everything is at least a tiny bit magnetic. It's just that in the materials were used to called Ferromagnetic materials (iron, cobalt, and nickel) are just stronger magnets. In laymans terms magnetism is basically just the movement of an electrical charge hence the electromagnetic force which encompasses both electricity and magnetism. Both have a force carrier that communicates it's force through the photon. It can get more complicated than that but that's really all you need.
And also quarters are primarily made of copper and plated with a copper nickel mixture.

There is nothing stating that magnetic monopoles SHOULD exist - only that they are mathematically and theoretically possible. Everything we understand about electromagnetism is consistent with or without the existence of monopoles.

Not an engineer but i DID drop out going into my senior year of electrical engineering. The fruit is actually a magnet and i find it beyond cool!!! If you run a current through the copper wire loop it induces magnetic flux which will effect anything inside the wire loop… these effects include magnetizing the object if its able to be. So yeah 11/10 fruit design

...It is now my headcanon that Kidd messed up his teeth eating his Devil Fruit and had to wear braces that he probably made and adjusted himself in order to get that award-winning smile of his.
Interesting fact about magnets: When a magnet is above a certain temperature it loses its magnetic properties.
So, if one of the few characters with heat based powers keep the metals around Kidd hot (above 80ºC, which is less than what is need to turn water into vapour), he would not be able to control them.

@@visionaryvjae5641 Yep. If a magnet is kept at that temperature for some time it loses it's magnetic properties permanentely, even after cooling down, so assign would dissipate regardless of Kidds time limits.
He would be able to use assign again and make her into a magnet again (even magnets that lost their properties due to heat can be remagnitized with the proper technique), but if she could re-heat herself they would be locked in that cycle.
But 80ºC is way above the normal human body temp (around 36ºC) so she would end up burning herself up unless her body resists heat. She would still (at minimum) risk a severe heat stroke and dehydration

Fun fact, the bedrock of most of the worlds ocean is mafic in composition. Which means its feromagnetic (iron based magnetism) thats how ancient magnetic poles were discovered by science. Ships in world war 2 would drag magnetic instrumentation across the atlantic looking for german submarines, but ended up mapping the seafloor having reversing polarity magnetic signitures. So yes, kid could likely manipulate the seafloor and also akainu's lava once it becomes cool enough to not being glowing anymore. Because rock and metal looses its magnetic polarity when heated to a certain point.

If you want an example of some of what could be done with iron sand: A Certain Scientific Railgun.
The main character has electric powers, and uses them for a bunch of creative things, including electromagnetism. The obvious use is, well, a railgun, as the title implies (using arcade tokens as ammo, but also sometimes... uh... bigger things), but she's also used iron sand to make iron sand tendrils and what is essentially a super-sharp chainsaw (in the form of a sword formed of rapidly vibrating tiny iron sand particles). Neat stuff.
Looking at Kids devil fruit, I almost thought it was Eneru's devil fruit.
I could actually see Eneru's fruit resembling a thundercloud with lightning 🌩⚡.

The Cloudberry fruit is an edible berry found mostly in Scandinavia, and other places such as Russia, and even Sweden.
The Fruit looks like a bright orange cloud shaped berry.

I think the Jiki Jiki no mi resembles an elektromagnet. It has the Ironcore and copper coils around it. I love the design.
I really like to think that Kid found it and bit into it to try to find out what kind of metal it was or the consistency of the metal so when he bit into it he bit through it and obtained the ability

The strong and weak magnetic forces are some of the fundamental forces in the universe and if he has access to them he should be able to rip atoms apart and things like that

Even in an island without metal objects or ore, Kid still has his metal arm and the metal on his outfit. He could still club people from range with those, maybe even accelerate them to bullet speed for a Mach Rocket Punch.

In theory, Kid wouldn't even need assign for Enel to have a negative charge, which means he can do all kinds of nonsense to forcibly pull and repel his body.
Basically Kidd vs Zeus and Kidd put Zeus in a box that pure lightning couldn't escape from. In terms of just devil fruits I think Kidd could counter enels lightning and trap him

if he can oscillate his magnetic field he could generate electromagnetic radiation (radio waves, infrared waves, visible light, uv, X-rays and gamma rays)
Also with magnetic oscillation he can generate heat via the same principle a microvaves do
With his awakening being able to make other things magnetic he effectively gets access to electromotive force so he could spin things like an electric motor
And with access to a second strong magnet and himself he could levitate things.
Heck with magnets he could control water.

More seriously though, if you are wondering how something like the copper wire wrapped around a cylinder works, it’s called a solenoid, and that’s probably part of the inspiration for the fruit. Electric and magnetic fields are one and the same, just one wave where one axis is the electric part and the perpendicular axis is the magnetic part. So an electric current will generate a magnetic field, and a magnetic field will generate an electric current. A solenoid works by running current through the wrapped wire, often copper, thus creating a magnetic field!
In terms of magnetism itself, everything is actually magnetic; aka attracted and repelled by magnetic fields, what most people mean when they talk about magnetism is ferromagnetic materials! Basically magnets works bc electrons (or rather, the magnetic moment of electrons) want to be aligned a certain way, or lined up, but this is where it gets a bit more complicated so I think that’s just a good way to think of it

Absolutely love this fruit design, the design actually tell the story of how magnets 🧲 are made! The iron wrapped in copper, and then the small lighting bolt on top, you get iron wrapped in copper and basically super charge it with a jolt of electricity and bam magnet!

if the iron cannonball itself is not magnetic then it can only ever be attracted by a magnet not repelled, and if the cannonball is a magnet then it would not work ether. Magnet only repel other magnet when the to face each other with the same polarity and attract when the poles are different, so a magnet cannonball fired against a super strong magnat where both has the same poles facing each other, it still would not work because the cannonball will just flip over as soon as it is fires and will be attracted instead of being repelled, basically the cannonball would always flip over before it would ever be bounced back. But depending on how Kids fruit powers actually works it could be possible.

James Clerk Maxwell ask all those questions about electromagnetism back in the late 19th century, his findings develop what we know as "Maxwell's Equations" and those equations are the bases for another theory: The Quantum Theory; and to this day we (humanity) are still developing the quantum theory knowing is still an incomplete theory and not even our most brilliant minds have yet figure out the end of it... so yeah, electromagnetism can get as complicated as quantum phisics, no shame in not undertanding all of it very well.
Kids fruit is by far one of the absolute best fruits. Have you ever heard of a guy named Magneto, Kid would have all the same powers as him. The benefit of his fruit is that humans literally need metal too achieve everything they want too do. There’s no reason Kid shouldn’t be flying around the grand line in some kind of futuristic fighter jet, submarine, or attack boat completely made out of metal.

Fun fact about magnets. They offcourse have 2 poles, a North and a South (like Kid's awakening @25:44 to assign a pole to anything he chooses, and doing this opposites will attract while the same poles will repel), but it's rather interresting how we determine which is the North pole and which is the South pole of the magnet. Basicly we leave the magnet in free suspence (you said Dr. Stone earlier, so think about Chrome leaving a tiny piece of a magnet, on a leaf, on water), doing this the magnet will shift toward the Earth's Northern Magnetic pole on it's own.
Edit: Talking about Dr.Stone, they did indeed make something like a Lodestone (I think they are called that) to make the magnet not lose any attraction, normally electromagnets only are as good as long they have a charge running through them.
6:35 This is actually pretty clever that he put the wire looking stem on the fruit. There's a magnetic expirement for when you wrap a wire coil around some iron rod or nail or whatever, if you heat it up or more specifically run an electric charge through it, the thing becomes a magnet and you can run it across stuff and pick things up like a normal magnet.

There's also another expirement that's super similar with an of contraption but I cant remember it's shap or specifics other than it needed a copper wire and has like an iron part to it as well, and I think the space inbetween it became some sort of magnetic field, somone could prababy clear that up better than I could.
And the way Kid uses his fruit, or at least the effects you see with the fruit, I think his body acts like aa pice of iron and when he activates hios power it's as if he was wrapped with the iron coil and had the electric charge. Like Think about it, all the sparks that come off of him, I know it's not a lot, but still. And then he can essentially become an magnet with one polarity to pull in or the complete opposite polarity to repel objects. Imo, one of the most usefull fruits to use IRL, but you'd have to use it with your brain which some people don't really have

My pops works for a telephone company that works on powerlines. In a training video they show them how people can either get sucked towards the voltage transformer or rejected backwards going flying. Similair to how magnetism works.

Yes and the cage was constant until Kidd and Killer got blasted by Hera's lightning bolt on the roof. Kidd's concentration got broke for a moment and Law saw Zeus was free and thought he must have alot on his hands dealing with Big Mom. So yeah he was doing it over a distance

In many of the basic ways kid can do very similar things to force users in star wars. Disarm oponents, repel projectiles, open doors, shield himself and others using chunks of metal, avoid falling debris, levitate himself and now with his awakening even push and pull oponents at will. Sure he doesn't have the mind hax or body enhancing stuff but still i think for a day to day basis it is pretty remarkable. how close his power is to the force.
I believe Kids "Repel" should be an awekening move.
Correct me if i am wrong, but magnets normaly only attract metal objecets, who are not magneticly charged. So in order to "repel" the canon ball, Kid had to "assign" a charge to it and then he can block it whit the oppusite charge.

About the "Punk Corna Dio" ability, it is a reference to Ronnie James Dio. Dio was a metal singer for a couple bands, including Black Sabbath, who claimed to have invented the 🤘which is another reference to the bull in the attack. Edit: Corna also means "horn" in Italian.
Fun fact in Italy the gesture of making the "corna" has 2 meanings or uses,old people used it as a mean to stave off bad luck/evil eye these sort of things or as a response to somebody telling something foreboding, usually pointing the horns downward(I believe this version was the one Dio saw his gradma make and decided to incorporate in his performace,don't know if this could be just a urban myth ).The other use,the most common(drive in Italy and you'll see it)is the one associated with the horns pointing upward to signal to somebody that you believe that his/her partner is...let's say "intimate" with somebody else,used of course to offend people

When you rub a piece of iron along a magnet, the north-seeking poles of the atoms in the iron line up in the same direction. The force generated by the aligned atoms creates a magnetic
i saw a theory i forgot who made it but it said that the previous owner of Kid’s fruit (during the void century) was the one who assigned the magnetic forces to the grandline islands through an awakening.
Not sure if it’s been done with something like a cannon ball, but there is a video I saw of a base jump without a parachute. They built a magnetic suit and had massive electro magnets at the bottom. It actually worked and the guy made the jump safely. Worth a watch if you’re interested.
