Wow, this video really resonated with me, especially hearing you briefly talk about your experience in community mental health and being the only Black therapist because I am in the same situation right now. It felt validating to hear you talk about how it made you feel because I often feel like others get and understand what it feels like to be in a space where there is only one or a few of you. Thank you for sharing this and thank you for creating such amazing content.
I just graduated & I'll be applying to take the MFT exam soon. I like how you share the pros & cons about private practice and I can tell you are genuinely passionate about what you do. Love your videos!
This video is right on time. It’s definitely motivating while sitting here slaving at my agency but I’m trying to get these hours. I’m grateful for my part time pp because it gives me balance. Can’t wait to sit where you are. 🎉🎉
Thank you for always supporting my videos Ashley! The sacrifices you are making at the agency will pay off girl and is amazing that you already have your practice up and running-will make the transition even smoother 😊 Any idea of when you want to fully transition?
You’re welcome! I’ve already passed the NCE. I should be done with my direct contact hours by May 🤞🏽. I’d like to have a cushion before I leave so sometime in 2024 I guess 😢😢😢😂😂
i'm new to this, just graduate with my bachelors. Doing research on my options for a masters. I keep seeing people talk about private practice, so i'm curious if it is exploitative
It depends on what you negotiate with the practice. Shortly after graduation I worked for PP and the negotiated terms were 60/40, the practice that I’m currently working for pays a flat rate.
Hopeful future therapist here!! Just subscribed:)
Welcome!!! 🤗

What is the group coaching program you invested in?
I’m not sure if you mentioned. But will you be remaining tele-therapy as a group practice or will you be going into brick and mortar.
As of right now, I’ll be staying virtual
Do you think that private practice is a bit exploitative? Will you take majority of what they earn? or will you split it evenly?
