Thank you so much for commenting on this game! It is really breathtaking to see how Karpov maneuvers to take advantage of weak white squares. It's just a poetry!

I feel like Karpov gets forgotten about when people talk of the Top 5 of all time. He was an exceptional talent and one of my favourites! Thanks for making this video :)

Thanks for all your comments. I'm really encouraged that I can post a highly strategic game, yet within a couple of days get upwards of 4000 views (without even promoting it on twitter/facebook). Look out for reports on the London Chess Classic starting on Friday 4th December.

My favourite Karpov game is Chandler vs Karpov from the 1983 TV tournament in Bath. Actually, that would be my Christmas wish for this year, Mr King :-)

YYEESS!!!! A Karpov win, and not just a lose with he and Kasparov. Keep up the good work for an underrated Karpov.

Thank you very much for the warm reception of the suggestion !! Definitely inspiring.
Also.. I have been watching your commentary on the games from the 1995 Intel chess. Needless to say you and Maurice do a great job of "commenting" on live chess. Very very entertaining and you manage to show us the variations of blitz chess which is a remarkable dedication to game itself. Thank you very much.

Appreciation for Karpov’s chess style took a long time coming - but now so satisfying. His tactical play reminds me of harrier pairs sorting things out to deadly effect on the moors.

16 minute video, uploaded 9 minutes earlier, viewed by 68 fans and upvoted 6 times already (without finishing the video). Internet is such a weird place! Yup, I am upvoting it too.

Thank you very much GM King!
Another great example of squeeze play by Karpov is in the game Karpov-Unzicker Nice 1974.

Great analysis! Funnily enough, this is very much how Carlsen plays. If one shows this game without telling me the name of the players, Magnus would definitely come to mind!

"Carlsen= Karpov + Fischer" Garry Kasparov.

The move I like the most in this game is 20.b3!. It is preventing the queen from going to a4, supporting c4 and removing the pawn from b2 so it is not hanging later. So many accomplishments by a small pawn move,:)

Thank you for this videos. As a suggestion, you could analysis the games of Anatoly Karpov's Best Games book, one game each week, you end up eventually covering the whole book. Tha would be beautiful, so valuable, and something I believe no other GM level commentarist is doing on RUclips. And of course it also aplies for Bobby's 60, Tal's best games, and basically any game collection of the greats.

it's amazing to see how by such simple means Karpov crushes his opponents : playing his bishop , queen and night back and forth , a few pawn moves and that's it!

Daniel, please append Karpov-Sax, Linares 1983 to your to-do-list, it shows the longest combination I've seen calculated by a human being.
