Hard to find unique videos like this on youtube. Everyone seems to be sponsored by brush companies like sigma and morphe. Thank you so much for this review! Love your videos! (And the fur antics in the background too lol)
I love my TFord brushes!! I'm also loving my new Chikuhodo blush brush (I want more in the near future) and believe it or not Wayne Goss brushes I have (18, 19, and 20) are really good. The rumor in the brush world is that WG brush #20 is a very close dupe for the hard to get Suqqu S brush. I have a few Hakuhodo that I love. I don't think a person needs to spend a ton to apply make-up but I prefer higher quality brushes for the way they feel on my face-as you can see they wash well and remain soft with no shedding.
Hey Crystal. Thanks for another great video. I'm a bit of a brushaholic & I have dozens from several companies. I started with MAC brushes, some of which are great, but they shed like crazy! I prefer synthetic brushes for foundation & powder & some of my absolute favorites are the Sephora Pro brushes with the silver handles. I also like Japonesque & Eco Tools, both of which I purchase at ULTA, and I have the Hourglass retractable brush that I use for my Mineralize Skinfinish. Several months ago I bought an absolutely GORGEOUS set of 13 vegan brushes from Vidalux. They're exquisitely soft (AND PURPLE), but I haven't used them yet. Perhaps it's time to play....
Thanks for the review..I don't think I will ever own any of those brushes as I am trying to stick to a certain price point..but if there is one brush I could see spending money on would be a brush for applying foundation
I was hoping you would do a high end brush review. I really want a few of the Marc Jacobs brushes, but have heard mixed reviews. Mainly that they warp and the hairs start to clump together. I really trust your opinion as it seems we kind of have the same taste. I never considered the Tom Ford brushes, but I will have to give those a look. Great video as always I always look forward to what you post.
My fav brushes are Chanel (eye brushes), Dior (face brushes), Nars (face and eye brushes), Real Techniques (face brushes), It Cosmetics brushes (face brushes) and Surratt (face brushes). I do not have any Tom Fords, but looking forward to buying those as well as a few Bobbi Brown brushes.
How do you concentrate with Max and Penelope??? Too funny!!! Very good review. I've always been curious about high end brushes, so thank you so much for the review!! Blessings, Robin
The Hourglass brushes review is really helpful for me.. I have been wanting some of them and your review came in a perfect time.. I have 2 TF brushes, the blush brush and blending brush.. And I sooo agree on your thoughts about the blending one, but me too I still love it :) The blush brush though I'm so disappointed, it's so stiff I heared after some washes it can be a little more fluffy ..but I just can't do this .. I prefer looking at it the way it is now.. I'm still keeping it inside its box and I like to use it in rare fancy occasions :) You're beautiful and that lipstick is PERFECT on you.. Thanks for your efforts I'm heading now to watch your Luxury foundation collection
I enjoyed watching your videos! You have a nice collection of high ended brushes. My price point on a brush is $40. It is nice to know that you did not need to have a high ended brush to look flawless. It was amazing to watch your pets play around while you critique your brush collection.
Great detailed video 👍 I would never repurchase chanel brushes. They are not soft and overpriced. Their foundation brush similar to yours didn't hold up well and started applying my foundation streaky. My recent splurge was the Wayne goss no 19 eye brush. It's a dream. They are super soft and apply eyeshadow beautifully. I would definitely purchase more from his line. I can't justify Tom ford brush prices tho. I have been eyeing the Marc J bronzer brush but the price kills me.
W/ u on a couple of the brushes that weren't all that... The TF angled flat eye brush(forget the number), and the hourglass face(smaller of the 2, forget the number), I did buy those... and returned, they were not worth the price for me. I felt the same way too about the hourglass brush, wished it had been a bit shorter/blunter as it had no body & was too floppy for my liking. The TF one wasn't anything I couldn't do w/ my Mac 239. I do have the TF 11 shader, and the 6 blush brush & love them... SO SOFT!! Great video! : D
I love Bare Minerals brushes. I've had the same set of brushes for years and they are in great shape. However, I do want to get a bigger fluffier brush for loose powder. The Chanel brushes look a little stiff. Great review.
hakuhodo is still my holy grail brushes!!! so soft . best shape and functionality. they are not that expensive if u buy the basic j series black with silver ferrules. the gold plated handles are the ones thats expensive. i heard hakuhodo make tom ford brushes too. all the $$ i wasted on mac and nars brushes...they are so scratchy.
I have a couple of TF brushes, they are soft, perform and wash well but I don't use them often, I'm rough with my brushes and I travel a lot and I find myself leave the TF behind. They are excellent but I don't consider them a must have. I actually use mac,elf and RT a lot more and they give the same results.
Really enjoyed the overview! The last brush I picked up was the Bare Minerals Smoothing Face brush. It's the perfect denseness for me. I'm eye balling that Hourglass brush, looks really nice! The one to use with the lighting powders.
The Max and Penny show, I tell ya LOL!! Thanks for this. The most expensive brush I have is Bobbi Brown's Bronzing brush. I do like it but I don't really use it all that often. Hey Tom Ford! But I think I'm good. I'm crushing on my Real Techniques brushes some kind of hard that I don't want to use anything else. Oh and also the elf Studio line brushes and Bare Minerals. I may check out some from IT Cosmetics since I do like the ones that I have from them and that's it. And I may pick up a MAC 239 for giggles. I'm very tempted to go through my brushes and getting rid of some. We'll see if that happens.
Jen J Before I started my brush buying frenzy I went through mine and passed on quite a few that I didn't use because they were scratchy or just bad brushes all around. I'm really happy with whats left and my Real Techniques are still my pride and joy! I really hope they keep adding to the regular line!
I do too. I so hope that make some that are only in sets available for into purchase **fingers crossed**. I did look at my brushes about a week or so ago. I did toss two that were just no good. The rest I do use for the most part. So yea lol. I need to reorganize them then maybe it won't be so bad. I need to check a good Dollar Tree for some baskets and such.
Loved this video! I was just lusting over TOM FORD's brushes... Can we get an updated makeup collection video? Do you you have a makeup room? or do you still store your makeup in the bathroom? I've been watching since your discovery of Muji for make-up. Thank you for keeping us in the know. :)
PaulaYoungTv I've had a makeup room since 2013 and used to film my videos in there. In 2014 it was remodeled and I did a video showing the changes to the room. I don't do makeup collection videos but the video showing the makeup room remodel went up last April. ruclips.net/video/DlA5PEk1IQQ/видео.html
I have started getting in to trying more brushes, i love sigma eye brushes but their face brushes are pricey, but i found a great brand called zoeva and i am loving their brushes right now, the face brushes are amazing and well worth checking out xx
***** Zoeva is on my list! I want to try the Rose Gold set! Since I got all of these and the Morphe Brushes from yesterdays video I'm going to wait a few months and then look into ordering from Zoeva!
Definitely worth a look i am loving them so far and since getting them they are all ive used pretty much, i got a morphe contour brush but not too impressed with it and so lightweight in comparison to other brushes, was a little disappointed. Great review as always and love the antics in the background xx
Great video! My first brush purchase was Elf they are good. My recent purchase was the Real Techniqes, wanted to try there powder brushes, was excited to have those. I also have some Sepora. Really want to try the famous Mac brush everyone loves, think it's called 217? Your baby's were having a ball. Max looked at you once as to say "oh Mom is going to be upset" they are cute!
Great video. Makeup Forever brushes are similarly priced to Chanel's. I have some of their face brushes (they're in the 40-55 $ range) and they are excellent.
Thank you! You just saved me ~$100! Did you try blending with the Hourglass No. ...er, the paddle/kabuki hybrid? It looks [too] dense but every piece of copy you can find about their brushes says soft soft soft. And I'm with you on RealTechniques. I have five of their blush brushes. They take some breaking in (even though their synthetic).. once they fluff out a bit - perfect.
You're very beautiful and I really enjoy your videos. Your precious pets are so cute and funny in the background too! Just one thing that I have to tell you because I'm so "type A" LOL. Your left couch cushion is upside down because it doesn't follow the pattern of the others on the side. Anyway, ever try the IT cosmetics brushes? Thanks for the videos!!
Kristensfashionlove Thanks. I hauled quite a few of the brushes in the Ulta Airbrush Essentials collection in November and I'll be reviewing them in my Feb Favorites video. Last month I went over the Real Techniques Bold Metals collection in Fav's so this month its--It's Essentials turn:)
Hi crystal I really look forward to seeing your videos and it was wonderful to see your fur babies playing, I just wanted to ask you if you could recommend an eye base, I'm 50 and you can see the crape, especially vertical, through the shadow, this is stopping me Wearing eyeshadow, any help would be very much appreciated.
MegaSHOOGS I am not positive about which eye primer will help but my favorites are Nars Pro Prime and Milani's eye primer at the drugstore. They are both good with oily lids so I wonder if they would be good for craping?
Thanks for the suggestion crystal and by the way I have 3 Marc Jacobs face brushes including the bronzer brush and they are all lovely...and very soft.
You should do a MAC Paint Pot/Maybelline Color Tattoo collection video! You know that Instagram post with the pic of your color tattoo and paint pot drawer? You could show (and swatch?) all the colors you have! That would be so much fun to watch!! For all the cream eyeshadow freaks out there, anyway =) xoxo
Perfect review!! :) thank you :) I don´t have any expensive brushes. I use ony Hakuro, Bdellium Tools, Zoeva and I must say Hakuro is my most favourite brand. :)
nothing beats japanese artisenal hand made brushes. wish i had known from the beginning before i bought all the other famous name brands but scratchy or mediocre quality brushess...great review thanks. totally curbed my hourglass temptation....hahaaa
I really liked this video! Even though I can't see myself spending that much money on brushes. Another helpful video would be this video but with budget friendly brushes!
Thanks for the review! BTW, do you know which BBB have makeup in the Baltimore area? I'm here visiting from Utah and wanted to visit a BBB with makeup. The ones in FL & UT don't have cosmetics.
suzan1mal I think using their Find A Store option on their website should be helpful. I go to the Annapolis store but I don't know about which other stores have the Harmons Beauty section. I haven't used their site in a while but they had a way for you to look for stores that had a makeup section last time I was on there.
Felicia Carrillo I still need seven more that are out of stock as I said when I hauled the 7 I got in the video before this one. Sorry I don't do quick turn around brush reviews. I got the brushes I reviewed in this video in December and early January. I personally don't think I can recommend a brush unless I've used it for several weeks/washed it several times/used it with several makeup products.

The Pet Party was the best! 😻🐕🐾🐾
Very informative. Your animals made my day, thanks for sharing your knowledge of brushes and for sharing your animals!

Me too! 🙌 🙌 🙌 And the Buffing and base shadow brushes.
*****+jen J I never use the Multi task brush. What do y'all love it for?
Those brushes are heavenly. Thanks for sharing love, your cat and dog play just like mine, too funny. Bunch of hams, lol! Lots of love and blessings

So glad you did this video, I hate wasting money on brushes that don't live up to the hype. I love the TF #13.
Will you be picking up any of the Spring 2015 Maybelline color tattoos? I picked up all 5 and the color Black Orchid is AMAZING!
Thanks, love all your reviews. I only go shopping after watching you. You're the best.
Debbie Woo Thank you so much!
Hi Crystal! Great review. Which brushes do you recommend that are not as expensive? Real techniques?

Great info here Crystal. Did you do a review of the HG Ambient lighting products? I can't decide what to get from that line.
kcashwell Yes but that was a long time ago I don't remember the video but I use Radiant & Luminous Light the most.
Thank you!
I have the Marc Jacobs The Bronzer. It cost me a pretty penny to get to me. It's a great brush but you're not missing anything...trust me.
Agree with you choice. Tom Ford and Real Techniques brushes 👍👍👍

Yay, finds great brushes are a pain . Thank you so much for this video. 😊👍💗
Amazing Crystal! Thank you.
Where is the morphe brush review I'm anxiously waiting for some reason can't find a good review on these brushes...
Felicia Carrillo I still need seven more that are out of stock as I said when I hauled the 7 I got in the video before this one.
Sorry I don't do quick turn around brush reviews. I got the brushes I reviewed in this video in December and early January. R u going to check out the new Nars blush duos? I hope so! Lol!
Cynthia Vickerson Yes I went a little crazy and reposted pics of them on Instagram. I know which ones I'm going to get!
OK can't wait!
Great review!
