    I've left this same comment on a few videos about the G-00 simply because I don't hear anyone giving useful first hand feedback. I've owned this guitar for about 10 months now so I've had plenty of time to get to know it. I use this guitar strictly for fingerstyle. I also play a Martin 00-18 which costs almost 3 times what the G-00 does, and a Custom Shop Breedlove Focus SE Concert that costs 4 times what the G-00 does and a Taylor K26 costing 6 times as much. I only mention these guitars to point out that the G-00 is getting played along side some serious competition.
    Feel/Playability: This is a hard one to explain. It doesn't have quite the same feel of quality as the Martin, Taylor and Breedlove, but not in a bad way. It is more of a vintage feel maybe. It is a very light guitar which can give the impression of lower quality, but I have to say that it is one of the best playing acoustics I have ever played. Maybe mine is just an exception but the setup on it is incredible. Very low action with zero fret buzz. It is a more effortless guitar to play than any of my other guitars which all cost a lot more. I don't know what it is about this guitar but it takes almost no finger pressure at all to fret a string.
    Tone: The tone of this guitar is very bright and very loud. As someone that is learning fingerstyle, the G-00 is my favorite guitar to play. The reason is two fold. The volume and high end cut that this guitar has allows me to hear myself well while finger picking. Beginners to finger picking generally don't play with much attack and it can be hard to hear yourself well. The guitar is also super transparent. It lets you hear every little change in dynamics which is great for a beginner since you can hear, and correct, mistakes much easier. Where my other guitars will sort of compress and limit the dynamics a bit, the Gibson lets all of that be heard for better or worse. Again, I think this is a great for someone learning fingerstyle. The tone of the the Martin, Taylor and Breedlove are certainly more refined, but there is something about the tone of the G-00 that I just really like. It is a very fundamental type of tone so not much overtone but a very cool vintage sort of tone. Maybe that's just what walnut sounds like, not sure as it's my first walnut guitar.
    Quality: I know some content creators have made negative comments that folks on RUclips just took as gospel, but any guitar in any price range can have an issue. I think Driftwood guitars found one glue smear and then made some comments about bracing that were incorrect but that's all it took for the RUclips collective to believe these guitars are of low quality. I can only speak for mine, but it is perfect in every aspect of QC, inside and out.
    I have been on a mission this year to find the best finger picking acoustics I can. I have played many great ones and have to say that this G-00 just has some little bit of mojo that I'm not finding yet anywhere else. I'm not sure how to explain it and maybe it is just my particular G-00, but after spending many thousands of dollars I still haven't found a guitar that I enjoy playing as much as the G-00, and in the end that's what really matters most.

      In the state that I have accumulated a lot of guitars, gibson is a guitar that may look less premium. Whether it is medium or high, the guitar has a detail that is not as neat as other brands. Most guitars are very light, but I think that‘s the advantage. It looks like a cheaper guitar. Other major and high-end brands, the guitar skin is thin and can easily scratch or sticky.
      But above all, gibson has a sound that is the real sound of a guitar that is difficult to find other guitar brands to copy. There is a way that is not love at first sight. (But the more you live together, the more love) It is unique, easy to access, very light weight. The internal neatness may be lower than the high-end brand, but the sound is very good. And difficult to copy
      *But the confusing version, the small version is sometimes worth it and may sound very good, no different from the big one. If you understand gibson, you will get a very good guitar that is difficult to copy other guitars

    Thank you for the videos. You have shown me a number of guitars I would not have had the opportunity to learn about. I don’t usually buy new, simply because of cost. I have tried some of the newer Gibsons, but the G series doesn’t do it for me. But after watching an earlier video you did comparing the L00 studio models I did find a rosewood model I purchased and really enjoy. I want to get up there next summer and hopefully walk out with a new gem.
    Thanks again.

    L00 all day for me. The tone would be great blues and Django-like jazz.

    I own both of these exact guitars (waited on the L00 Original for 6 months) and I like them both for different reasons. I’m keeping them both, too. This review is pretty accurate. If you can’t afford (or find) an L00, the G00 is a fine playing and sounding option. Clear and punchy. Very comfortable and downright fun to play.

      I found a L-00 Del and the sound that floats around in the eather of some imaginations, well it just floats...lol
      Note for note I'm taking the L-00 Del Standard or Studio. Some ppl hear opinion and some hear musical 🎵. But don't let me effect the demise of the hearing. Both sound good but only one (the L-00s) sounds exceptional. Maybe its just me or maybe it's just reality.
      L-00 Studio,Standard or Deluxe have a musically unwritten sound that you will find imprinted on your soul. The Gen or G-00 will leave an impression, it will not penetrate to the depths like any of the L-00s .
      Just my written opinion... Happy trails

    I purchased a G-00 about 10 months ago as a finger picker I felt comfortable just leaving out on the stand all the time. The shop did not have an L-00 for comparison but did have an LG2, which was about $2700 I think. Side by side the LG2 sounded better when strumming but I actually preferred the tone of the G-00 for finger picking, which is why I was buying a small body acoustic. This may have just been because the G-00 produces more high end which made it easier for me to hear my finger picking, not sure, but I did prefer it's tone for that purpose. I gave up on trying to judge the tone of any guitar with a RUclips video long ago. I don't buy any acoustic that I can't play in person so the sound of it on RUclips is really of no concern to me. I will say that my G-00 sounds nothing like this video, it sounds really good. Very loud for it's size and very "jangly" like someone else mentioned. As to the Player Port, I honestly find it amusing that this bothers so many people. Several very high end boutique builders use one and a McPherson has it's main sound hole placed very high on the body but no one is bothered by any of this. It's seem to only bother people when Gibson does something different, whether it be acoustic or electric. I could give two F's less about the player port, but it is really amusing to me how narrow-minded people can be. To each his own though. Ya'll keeping hating and I'll keep laughing at you.

    My first time playing one I wasn’t a fan, but I realized all of the acoustics at Guitar Center sounded terrible due to humidity issues. I played one at wildwood guitars and loved it 🥰. Purchased that day :) I keep it at 45% and it’s amazing 😻

    Everyone that bought a L-00 is so biased in the comments. Owning neither of these guitars I can say the G sounds far more resonant and has a nice jangly sound, though I can understand having a guitar that is too bright isn't necessarily the best if you're singing. The L is darker and more earthy sounding. Considering the difference in price it is likely set up far better. Both great guitars

  • @stormengine3261
    @stormengine3261 2 года назад +2

    The L is definitely classic and sound of a true Gibby but the Generation can be toned with more bassy strings. But personally I think if you slap on some Martin Bluegrass elevens on that baby it'll twang n pop on the deep ends! For a 1000 bucks I believe it's a decent guitar that sports the Gibson name

    There is a few things that need to be added. The first is a double 00 sized guitar such as both of these in the video are really meant for finger picking not strumming with a pick, this is why that these guitar were (and still are) favored by blues players. Another important factor, watch out for the price you pay for one of these. If you look around you can get one of the same body sized for LESS than $200.00 easy. Your not going to get that much difference in tonal range from one brand to another.

    Why not compare the L-00 Studio to the G-00, thatwould be a better take and more closer. The L=00 has as a better sound and warmth to the articulation.

    Yeah look I was really wanting to like the G-00… and I can see how it would fit into the market. But I don’t think I’ll be buying one… the L-00 is simply to classic, too sweet, and several classes above the G. Save your money and pull the trigger on the L, or keep on the lookout for a good used mahogany guitar. As always great video guys!

    At that price point for the G series, I’d probably go with a Eastman E10 “double 0”

    • @mattweiss5035
      @mattweiss5035 Год назад

      I almost did just that, and I think they’re very comparable, with the e1OO almost 1/2 the price, but instead I dug deeper into my pocket and bought the Eastman e10OO/v-the adi spruce and mahogany version with the antique varnish finish.
      I sat for hours and played the two Eastmans side by side, and the e10 just sounded better-I knew if I bought the e1, I’d hear the e10’s sound in my head every time I played it. But it’s pricey.
      It all started out with me trying that Gibson G-OO. I liked it, and it made me want a small guitar, but in the end it quickly fell out of contention as I considered one Eastman that was just as good and cheaper and another that was more expensive, though still not as costly as the L-OO, and better (it’s a personal opinion but it seemed really obvious to me) than the G-OO.
      I’d love to own a really great Gibson, but my pockets aren’t quite that deep. The bigger version of the one I bought is a slope shouldered dreadnought a lot like the J45-I’ve owned it for a couple years. It’s my favorite guitar.
      I think a lot of folks in the same spot are buying Eastman guitars.
