seems like this car sat for a long time and they clearly did not clean the leaves and debris from the exterior or interior crevices (like around the window seals). Likely, the buildup of debris caused the leaks around the battery..
There is a smallish drain hole in the bottom of the battery compartment. All it takes is a couple of leaves to block it. This is a design problem that could easily be fixed by putting in a drainage hole of a decent size with a leaf/debris filter. Or better still, Mercedes, not using the battery compartment as a drainage channel!
Yes, your spot on. By the time the heater problem is there it's too late. None of the owners open the hood/bonnet regularly enough to keep it clear anyway.
@@Automotive_Solutions It only takes a couple of leaves to block and who wouldn't be even think that it is necessary to regularly check a battery compartment for debris? It also takes ages to dry out the carpet in the passenger well!
Brilliant video. Made solving the problem easy. Saved me a fortune . Just needed cleaning out and unblocking the pipe.
Now there's no excuse to let it block up ☺️👍

I think your right. Classic neglect and expecting a modern car to be maintenance free.

Wow that was in super bad shape.
It's not a pretty sight. I was hoping to take it apart and clean brushes, lubricate etc.

If your in the UK try autodoc.co.uk or a Mercedes main dealer. I don't have an exact link I'm afraid.
