Very simple days and what a cool movie to watch.....Amolpalekars acting is awesome.
No wonder why 'Chhoti si baat' became such a memorable masterpiece 💞 it was considered as one of the best hindi romantic comedy film of the 1970s, a nostalgic favourite for its quirky take on pre-hypercongestion bombay. Arun's character can be related by many nice guy's even today that's the beauty of this movie it has simplicity & innocence with a real life story which connects directly to heart. Colonel singh mould him into a mature, confident young man through meticulously designed lesson plans, peppered with philosophy so he was very instrumental in making the love story of Arun & Prabha work 💕 otherwise Nagesh would have definitely won in the race.

"Chhoti si Baat" is my all time favourite movie of Basu da . He is such a creative genius. He showed simplicity , pure content on what he believes.
Although this film is a remake of the 1960 English film " School for Scoundrels", it has its own beauty. Asha Ji's voice in 'Janeman Janeman' & Lata Ji's Voice in 'Naa jaane kyun' song are just perfect.
Ashok Kumar & Ashrani are such tremendous actors. It is because of Nagesh's character & looser expression ( Ashrani) , Arun's Character ( Amol Palekar) has that charishma & heroism later . That No-Bindi look of Prava ( Vidya Sinha) added simplicity to the character . Also the Pallu of Saree draped over the shoulder makes a signature look for her .
Director is so specific about the characters , story , screenplay, length of Film , location , actors.
What a Film Basu Da ! A masterpiece of 1976 which is valid in 2024 also. "Old is Gold". A pure nostalgia of 70s Bombay . No Film has ever shown the simplicity of Bombay and it's asthetics like this film .

I was very low in confidence and this movie restored it fully now I know how to make things happen as I want them to . I am 18 years old and I love old bollywood movies and songs ( especially the one's from 60s to late 70s ) , people may call me old fashion but there is a different kind of vibe in old bollywood movies that is nowhere to be found in todays films.
Basu chattering memorable classic - cute Vidya Sinha and innocent Amol palekar romantic comedy beautifully guided by his guru Ashok Kumar, still is worth watching and fresh.... congrats

I saw vidya sinha last onscreen in salman khan starrer Bodyguard
This movie was a great message in the olden days how to be bold and to stand up against people who try to put you down or take undue advantage.
A Few fun facts to be noted
1) amol palekar is a litterbug throwing ground nut holder paper cone, pan of the peon, cigarettes and the plate of paan out of the window into the building compound
2) vidya sinha did not have a bindi during the entire movie until the end. That photo changed her entire getup.
3) lonavala in the last scene is super green. Gone is all the greenery at present. It is super commercialized and the sight seeing points are filthy now.
